That statement is completely wrong. JC's will still be able to put the gems anywhere they want just like people without JC can put any color gem in any color socket. The difference is with the nerf, you wont get the socket bonus if the JC gem doesn't match the socket color.

Exactly. This whole article is written as if the author is unaware that you can put whatever gem you want into any slot and that gem color only matters for the socket bonus. It's definitely a nerf to jewelcrafting, but not in the way the writer seems to think.
