The Queue: Hey Sacco, can you do today's The Queue edition
Playing the role of Adam Zibbert tonight will be the Michael Sacco. There will be a brief intermission between acts.
Welcome back to The Queue, WoW Insider's daily Q&A column where the WoW.com team answers your questions about the World of Warcraft. Adam Zibbert will be your host today.
You know the drill! LET'S GET US SOME QUESTIONS ANSWERED.
Bearkub asked...
My main is a lvl 80 paladin (holy/prot), gold is not an issue, and I have everything I could want off the Wintergrasp PVP vendor/npc. My alt is a level 70 hunter (hilarity ensues). Is it worth it to spend 200 stonekeeper's shards to buy the +10% XP bonus shoulders? Or would those shards be better spent on something I can sell for gold (the non-bound pvp meta-gems, for example)? Is there something to spend the shards on that I'm unaware of? I imagine they're worth it on a lvl 58 DK alt, but I'm not sure what the "cost/benefit" cut-off is.
Heirloom items are pretty great, in my experience, especially the shoulders. With 3.1, they also grant 10% extra quest experience on top of mob XP, which is a lot -- especially given that most of your XP earned while going from 70-80 is going to be quest XP. It, essentially, takes a flat 10% off of your leveling time, sometimes more. And, when you're done with it, you can send it to another alt, even if they can't wear that specific armor type, because the item will automatically become the highest possible armor type for that specific character.
I'd say it's worth the purchase, but it's a personal choice. Just remember you can get gold back at any time, but leveling time isn't something you can recoup.
Aneng asked...
Why can't Horde grind rep for the Wintersabre Trainers? I'm not QQing about the one more mount for Alliance, but wondering if there is some lore involved, or Blizzard just hasn't been bothered to add a replacement for the raptor trainers in Un'Goro?
There were some quests on the 3.1 PTR that indicated that you'd be able to learn how to ride Venomhide Ravasaurs, but Zarhym said that there was no mount going in with 3.1. He did say, however, that they have plans to add an equivalent mount to the Wintersabers for Horde players.
Ayiano asked...
Is there any way to zoom in with the Dressing Room or otherwise manipulate it besides rotating? I'm on an RP server (Wyrmrest Accord) and occasionally peruse the Auction House for some RP gear. The built-in Dressing Room is kind of limiting for anything smaller than robes (such as bracelets, shoes, or tiaras). As it stands right now, I find myself alt-tabbing between WoW & Wowhead, using their 3D feature. While it's a pretty neat app, its still a little bit of a hassle to alt-tab each time. Plus, in-game I would be able to see how it looks on my character's model. Is there some hidden feature that allows me to zoom or freely rotate? If not, are there any addons that provide the same or similar functionality?
The addon CloseUp allows you to do just that! Any other suggestions for Ayiano, readers?
Misha asked...
Why the big push for Twitter?? Yes, I signed up & even added myself to WowInsider after listening to The Show, but haven't found anything worth following. Sure there's the lure of loot, but I don't have time to constantly monitor. At least WowInsider has articles & guides that give insight and/or help my game play--which I can read at my convenience. So what's the big deal about Twittering?
Twitter can be a very powerful social networking tool, as well as a way to grab breaking news and just keep connected with people you like. What it is for our readers is an optional tool to ask us questions, interact with us, participate in contests, or see Big News when it happens. If none of those interest you, of course, then you can just keep an eye on the main site. Twitter, though, is THE NEXT DIMENSION of WoW.com. THE FUTURE. THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN 1955 AND 1985.
That does it for today's edition of The Queue. Namaste!

Twitter is a disease that destroys rational thought.

I'm old enough to remember fighting on the side of good music during the disco wars. We knew we were close to victory when Pat Boone did a disco album. How does this apply to WoW & Twitter you ask? Easy my dragonslaying friends, my 77 year old state senator is typing out tweets now.
The end of twitter is nigh.

Question, we do one tower FL every week, what I was wondering was when it comes to loot, do you get only items on the hard table or 1 from normal and one from hard?
Tyranna May 23rd 2009 9:31AM
Neither, you only get the normal loot table with additional Runed Orbs. Hard mode items for the Leviathan encounter drop only with 4 towers up.

Nope it is "Returning".

With the change in Wintergrasp are the vendor item prices for medals and shards going to be lowered? I mainly PVP not in arena. With no dailies in WG most of these things have become unreachable unless I really really grinds for days for each char. I'm looking at 3-5 weeks now to buy one piece where i was buying a peice a week before the change.
Also why can't paladin exorcism hit a siege vehicle but a warlock can dot one up. Do all classes get gimped in some manner in PvP?
Your remember me button didn't remember me.

10% XP or selling items for gold?
Here's some maths: 10% of the levelling range 70-80 means you gain an extra level from wearing them, roughly. Your milage may vary depending on playstyle, but roughly 5 hours of playtime per level means that the shoulders will save you 5 hours of playtime.
Now go ahead to translate those 5 hours into gold. How much do you expect to make per hour normally? Again, depends on playstyle but with a gathering profession say 300g per hour. This means that the 5 hours saved would equate to 1500g of value.
Is there anything you can buy that would give you safely more than 1500g for the stone keeper shard? I don't know, personally I'd doubt there is. So, I'd go for the XP boosting shoulders :)

I love CloseUp, been using it for years. Also good for inspecting targets, by clicking them and then making them your dressing room target. A good way for inspecting opposite faction's gear outside Sanctuary.

So I have a question: Will the new WoW.com have a mobile site like i.wowinsider.com? I loved checking the site on my iPod and now it's much more difficult for everything to load... :(
cowfodder May 22nd 2009 10:49PM
Browsing from i dot wow dot com on my iPhone right now.
Joey2250 May 22nd 2009 11:31PM
I hope wow.com will not rely heavily on Twitter. It would be sad if the fail whale had to hit here as well.

When you do the repeatable Frenzyheart/Oracle quest in Sholazar, does it have any effect on the current rep you have with either one?
For example, if I get revered with the Oracle's and then do that quest but pick Oracle's again, is that just free gold? Or does it set your rep back to honored?
artifex May 23rd 2009 5:13AM
If you switch, yes, you will lose rep with the opposite faction. If you're going for the exalted/exalted achievement, though, don't worry. It's a serial achievement, so just get all the way to exalted on one before redoing the fight that changes your faction, and don't worry about the loss after.

Ugh, Twitter™ hype makes me sick. The only reasonable use for it involves mobiles. Other than that it is pure high school movie cliche popularism.
"Look guys I am using Twitter™ on my iPhone™, I am telling people how comfortable my new black turtleneck sweater is"
The good thing is that like all social networking fads it will be dead in a year or two.

Here's a question for ya, The Queue-
The site www.wowprogress.com used to do a really great job at tracking detailed guild info such as when a player left/joined, when epic loot was won, and when bosses were downed, but it seems like since 3.1 it has lost a lot of its ability to do so. Is there any other website that tracks guilds' changes and progress with that much detail?
Banndit May 23rd 2009 2:33AM
I use Dresser ( http://www.wowinterface.com/downloads/info9381-Dresser.html ) as my Dressing Room addon.
Gothia May 23rd 2009 2:48AM
A lot of misinformation here so I will try to help out. If you have an alt that is a hunter and you buy him mail shoulders, they will be leather until he is high enough to wear mail. If you have an alt that is a paladin and you buy him plate shoulders, they will be mail until he is high enough to wear plate. Once each toon hits 40 and learns their respective armor skill the item will automatically change to mail or plate respectively. Buy your clothie and leather wearers their armor type since they will "always" wear this type of armor. A plate or mail item will show as unusable as is normally the case.
