Have a safe and fun Memorial Day from WoW.com
It's Memorial Day in the United States, a time when we celebrate the memories of our fallen soldiers by visiting memorials, breaking out the BBQ grill, and jumping into all of the swimming pools opening for the summer around the country. There's a lot of interesting things that have happened the past few days here at WoW.com. Our new site is in full swing, and you can read about all the changes we've done.
One of the major additions to the site is the WoW.com profiles, which bring the famed social networking features right into WoW via our custom add-on. Check out what some of our users are already doing: Yamara34 just started up a brand new guild over on Proudmoore, and Mogri got lucky on the fishing daily.
A few major details about patch 3.2 were released on Friday, along with some clarification points by the blues. There is no indication when patch 3.2 will hit the PTR, but we're on the lookout for it. With a new 5-man dungeon, and a new 10/25-man raid, it will be sure to make a splash.
In addition to the new dungeons, patch 3.2 will nerf Jewelcrafting a bit. This is an unwelcome change for many players, and it has all the JCers up in arms.
We hope that everyone has a great time celebrating Memorial Day, and make sure you do it safely. For those of you not in the US, have a great Monday anyway!

Towel day. Much more important. Don't celebrate war, celebrate peace!

Exactly what I wanted to say, thanks.

If you think Memorial Day is a celebration of war, then you've missed the point entirely.

If you think soldiers fighting 'for peace' is not war, then you've missed the point entirely.

Lios you sound like either a young kid or maybe some college kid that is to damn smart for his own good. Or maybe you don't live here in the United States. I am a US Army Soldier and Veteran of the Iraqi War. I have done two tours of Duty over in that country. Even though I may not have agreed with my Former Commander in Chief going to Iraq I still performed my duty as a Soldier with Honor.
Memorial Day is a day to remember fallen Service Members that have fought in Every war throughout the History of the United States. To honor them for their ultimate sacrifice in giving their lives so people here can live in peace and freedom. War is a ugly affair and shouldn't be but this is a imperfect world and wars have been fought for hundreds of years. Every US citizen can either give their respect or not to those who have died in honor and service to the United States.

Stupid post. We don't celebrate war, we celebrate the people who have kept us safe over the years. Learn some respect.

Remebering fallen Men and Women in war is not celebrating war. aside from that celebrate peace by playing a game real or not that is called World of Warcraft, funny

Why do you say "have great time celebrating Memorial Day, and make sure you do it safely" ??
Is it a dangerous festivity or something? you remark twice about "safety".
I'm European, that's why I'm puzzle.

Memorial Day weekend traditionally marks the beginning of summer outdoor activities, and with that come the associated hazards from people mixing fun with stupidity and/or alcohol. It's nothing specific to this weekend only.
Tinious May 25th 2009 9:40AM
Many people have BBQs w/ alcohol -- the safety comments are to remind people not to drink and drive, drink and boat, drink and throw lawn darts, etc....
Gabriele Nichols May 25th 2009 9:43AM
Its more general consideration than anything. Most warm weather holidays in the US include activities on lakes, drinking in many cases, and other activities that aren't necessarily hazardous, but could be dangerous if people act stupidly. Not to mention all the driving to see family, with driving somewhere being about 99% more dangerous than anything you'll do once you arrive.
Now, if its 4th of July, that's when "be safe" becomes a more critical warning. Bloody loonies with your out of state fireworks...

Here in the US, we have greater problems with alcohol-caused accidents than in Europe, partly resulting from the different way alcohol is treated here, and how it's generally withheld from kids until they are much older than European norms.

Hug a Vet!
We appreciate it!

Thank you Boydboyd!

"Fun" and "Memorial Day" do not go together. Nor does "Happy". I can understand the mistake of using a stock phrase, but it is a day of remembrance of for those of us that have lost loved ones. Please be more respectful of what the holiday is *for*.
Shadeprince...Moon Guard May 25th 2009 10:45AM
You are right Piper.
