Welcome back to The Queue, Wow.com's daily Q&A column where the WoW.com team answers your questions about the World of Warcraft. Adam Holisky will be your host today.
Many thanks to Sacco for covering The Queue last Friday. For some odd reason he decided to start drawing this weekend, and you can see one of his drawings above. For the other image you'll have to check out our Twitter page (it wasn't done when today's edition of The Queue was written). If you're wondering about the title, we're not going to talk about the mistake Adam made over the weekend when he was setting up WoW on his fresh dual-boot linux install. It's just really not worth going over how he managed to delete his WoW directory that has lasted him since pre-BC. Not at all.
Remember that The Queue is here to answer your questions, and you can either leave them in a comment in this article or contact us with them. So without further ado...
Swampsquach asked...
"When you do the repeatable Frenzyheart/Oracle quest in Sholazar Basin, does it have any effect on the current rep you have with either one? For example, if I get revered with the Oracle's and then do that quest but pick Oracle's again, is that just free gold? Or does it set your rep back to honored?"
The quest to select which faction you're aligning yourself with will set your faction standing at friendly to whatever faction you select, and make the other faction hate you. Does this mean that if you're at Oracle exalted and select Oracle, that you'll now be down to friendly with the Oracles? I don't know, but why would you want to try that?
My advice: only use this quest when you're wanting to switch between Frenzyheart and Oracles.
Airleagen asked...
"If the new instance has a 5, 10, and 25 man version, how do we enter the heroic/non-heroic version if there are three choices?"
The new 5-man dungeon (heroic and non-heroic) will be a separate dungeon from the 10/25-man one. Think of it as a Hellfire Citadel, a 5-man and a raid each having a different entrance portal. I should note that we haven't actually seen the new place yet, but unless Blizzard changes some major game mechanics, this is how it'll work. You can also read the blue statements on the new dungeon.
Jason asked...
"So I have a question: Will the new WoW.com have a mobile site like i.wowinsider.com?"
i.wow.com now works. There were some initial technical difficulties, but those are all taken care.
Many of you asked...
"Why do I still have to confirm my comments even after creating an account on WoW.com? Doesn't that kinda defeat the purpose of creating an account?"
WoW.com profile and comment integration is coming soon. And not the Blizzard soon.
Many of you asked...
"When is wow.com going to fix the broke WoW Head links in the 'read more' version of stories?"
Soon.
MechChef asked...
"Hey Sacco, who are you?"
Sacco joined us back in December. He used to work for Blizzard under the forum name Belfaire. Based on real life images, I can confirm he is indeed a Talbuk with a penchant for Hawaiian pizza. Or is that Alex? I get those two confused.

Okay well, I have a bunch of friends and apparently they think City of Heroes is 10x better than WoW. How can I get them to change their minds over to WoW? The main reason I want them to play is because I plan to make a reroll Hardcore Raiding Guild, in June, and it's always good to have a small group of players to start with. The problem is though that one of them tried out WoW and is actually influencing the others, telling them that WoW is "too repetitive, too serious, and full of rage." He is the one telling the others to play CoH.

Tell them that you have cookies.
Rhodri May 25th 2009 11:27AM
Tell your friend to kindly STFU and let your friends try out WoW for themselves, I know a few players who liked CoH who also enjoy WoW
Zeplar May 25th 2009 12:08PM
Since City of Heroes is horribly boring, give them a couple months to figure out that the game has no depth and they're switch over.
Honestly, how someone can call WoW repetitive and City of Heroes not... o_O
randomly generated quests wtf?

I think you just have to wait it out. I and some friends were avid Guild Wars players for a long time. We actually tried WoW and found it was poorly designed, had a horrid and buggy user-interface, lousy graphics, and was just generally inferior to GW is every possible way. Alas, we're playing WoW now, simply because it has more content. Same will happen with CoH -- you eventually just exhaust the comparatively limited content in these games compared to the massive amount of content in WoW. They play out much more quickly. You're unlikely to convince them to switch beforehand, given that these games are unquestionably superior while they're still fresh, but wait a bit and you'll get them over.

...How about let them play whatever they want with their money, because they're your friends and you'll respect that decision?

I still go back to GW for my of my WoW-ish PvP. GW also has a graphical flare I far prefer, doing it as WoW does on runs-on-anything hardware. That game uses forced perspectives and parallaxing in absolutely brilliant ways...
...which is where the comparisons start breaking down. GW can do perspective and skyboxing tricks WoW can't because there's far more freedom of movement these days--in vanilla though, GW just clobbered Blizzard on the tricks. They're not comparable games. GW is a trivial amount of (sometimes quality) PvE content feeding into a purely pre-twinked PvP game. It's not even really an MMO. WoW is an MMO with massive amounts of often high quality PvE content with PvP Frankenstein bolted onto it.
Sorry, responder rambles without enough sleep! Wait it out is definitely the answer though. For people who want PvE content, they'll all end up in WoW eventually. That or hop through all the other games on the market each for a month or two then wait for the next announcement.

If Guild Wars if so superior, why can't you jump?

New EVE online recruit here. I love it. It isn't for everyone though, but it's amazingly complex and deep. If you hate having to hear young kids in vent, give EVE a try, barely any kids.

So I am trying to complete the Northern Exposure achievement and remembered an awesome map you guys posted showing all the locations in Northrend. However since the big wow.com switch it doesn't come up when you click the link in the article. Any chance I could get a link to where it is on the internet (I can't find it on google) or maybe you guys could repost it. Thanks.

Oh me too! Was very disappointed my link to it failed and like you was unable to find it via googling.
RogueJedi86 May 25th 2009 12:48PM
Any chance of it in a bigger size for more detail?
Cbeefman May 25th 2009 1:28PM
there is also a fantastic addon you can get called SilverDragon
it is on Curse and it will alert you when you are near a rare spawn mob, the alert can be customized to include on screen flashes and even sounds

Here's something that I've been wondering for a while: who exactly is General Vezax? A lot of the other bosses in Ulduar have at least a little backstory, but Vezax just seems to be this weird looking guy who you have to fight to get to Yogg. Does anybody know who he is and where he comes from?
epsilon343 May 25th 2009 1:04PM
If I'm remembering correctly, the Faceless Ones are Yogg's own personal minions that he's created. General Vezak, I think, is one as well so it seems like he is kinda like Yogg's right hand man.
Too bad he's a total pushover, two shotted him last night, lol.

To add to the answer the Oracles / Frenzyheart question :
if you kill Artruis the Heartless to change faction, you go instantly to 0/12000 Honored with the faction of the muppet you rescued, and 0/36000 Hated with the faction of the muppet you killed after you complete the quest the rescued muppet gives you.
If you rescue the same muppet as the faction you chose before, nothing happens because you don't get a "reset"-Q from the rescued muppet then.
Also, if you were, say, exalted with Oracles, and you are swapping to Frenzyheart, you actualy lose 1 Exalted reputation in your total counting towards the "# Exalted Reputations" achievement, which imo kinda sucks after all the work you put into reaching exalted :(
Hope that helped !

onekilovolt May 25th 2009 11:40AM
So you lose 1 exalted count but gain towards the "Mercenary of Sholazar", that's a bit backwards imo.
AruKusanagi May 25th 2009 12:14PM
I was going to say the same thing. I was at 24 exalted factions and literally 1 day away from making the Silver Covenant my 25th when I chose to switch to the Frenzyheart. Was a bit of a downer when I hit exalted with the SC then noticed I didn't have credit for 25 factions.
