WoW Insider Show episode 91: The video show
We had our long-awaited video version of the podcast last weekend, and it was a hoot: Turpster and I dressed up and drank champagne together, Robin Torres showed how to inflate your Frostmourne, Lesley Smith came to us live from England, Duncor showed off his famous gigantic cowboy hat, and Patrick Beja showed that he can out-spiffy us any day. Unfortunately, because of the way we did things, we didn't end up getting a good recording of the whole thing -- you can see a few clips of the beginning over on Ustream, but they only have my camera (and the audio is rough -- I didn't realize it sounded that bad at the time). Dotorion also Frapsed a bit of the beginning, which should give you a little taste of the multi-camera mayhem. But in the end, it was pretty much a one-time thing you had to be there for live. Lightning in a bottle, if you will. The good news is that even if you didn't see the show, we've still got a treat for you: Turpster premiered a brand new video (put together by our good friend Ninthbatter) that we played at the end of the show, and that you can watch online right now. Turpster has also recently updated his own site, where you can find all the songs he's ever made, including our WoW Insider Song, and "Just Can't Wait," which is a song that he, I, and BigBearButt recorded a while ago before Wrath's release. So even though you don't have a new podcast to listen to today, you can tune in there.
We'll be back next week as normal, going audio-only. We'll talk more about WoW.com and the changeover (yes, the show is staying the WoW Insider Show for now), and we're planning to have on our special guest host direct from the Child's Play auction a few weeks ago to talk about the latest WoW news, as well as whatever else he wants to discuss. Should be great -- sorry for not having the show today, but we'll see you next week.

And too bad there isn't a audio version, ustream doesn't work great on iPhones and there were plenty of off-air moments.
Good show though, but please, just never do it again. =P

I tried to watch and enjoy it, I really tried. It was horrible. Stream was failing all the time. Abandoned it in the middle of the show
Bleuchz May 25th 2009 4:08PM
C'mon did you really think things were gonna go smooth? I think T put it the best. The reason the podcast does so well is because its like driving by a car accident, u just have to look and see. All in all though, I enjoyed it, its too bad you couldn't stick it out with the rest of us.

It would have been really nice if we had been warned ahead of time that if we didn't tune in on Saturday we would not get a chance to ever see it. I would have made time to watch if I had known that there would be no download of it...

Sorry. I thought we would at least have audio, and I do have audio, but it sounds terrible -- there was some echo on my voice in the stream that I wasn't hearing. Even the video that Ustream did record doesn't sound very good, unfortunately. It sounded fine on my end -- I didn't realize the recording was messed up until I listened to it on Sunday.
I do apologize. The good news is that while I really don't plan to do another video show (though what the heck, we might try going on Stickam at some point), it looks like we'll have Turpster and the WI folks at BlizzCon, so I'll bring my HD camera and get some video of us then for you to watch. That'll be much easier than trying to stream three people in live from around the world with a budget of $0.

Same. I've missed the past two shows because you guys haven't been posting the reminders x_x I wish I'd have known.
Tarroc May 25th 2009 3:48PM
There's no way do see the show?
:(((((((((((((((((((((((((((( missed it too :(((((((
Hopefully someone frapsed it somehow
Tumnus May 25th 2009 4:05PM
Love the pic you chose there Mike. :')
Rin May 25th 2009 4:36PM
I really think if you guys had made a special post saying that it wasn't going to be recorded by you (I know you mentioned it, but in not much more than a passing comment; I'm talking about a full post) and asked someone to fraps it, the whole damn thing would be on YouTube by now.
Really torn up that I missed it and I do truly think you dropped the ball on that one; this was completely unfair to those who wanted very much to see it, but honestly could not make the time, like myself and I'm sure plenty of other people.

Bigger than The Instance?
LOL god Schramm you make me laugh with your overblown sense of self importance.
ScytheNoire May 25th 2009 5:32PM
No recording, audio or video?
Why even do a podcast then?
What a failure in production. Schramm fails.

Could not agree with you more.
Though I do think Mike may have tried his best. If you (Mike) thought at all that this might have been the end result, I agree, why bother doing the show. You could have taken the day off.
Mr42 May 25th 2009 5:57PM
to all the /fail posters: there wouldn't really be much to fraps and see. as some posters said, it was more of "watching a car accident" than usual WI Show: streams kept crashing, mike kept getting robot voice, viewers kept getting dissonnected, messy cameras, just loads of technical issues with ustream.
on the plus side, the team has anticipated things to go downhill and the show was ... relaxed? [lack of words] ... information-wise.
overall: it was fun event to attend, but not much to record

Welcome to the life of a Retpally Mike :D
I mean, like people say, there isnt any point in doing a video/audio version as it was so messed up. Still, thanks for trying and i'm sure pictures will tell us everything we need to know.
Are there any plans of getting a small photo gallery of the show on? I'd love to see the slow demise of Mike while drinking the champagne :D
Ariisa May 25th 2009 7:22PM
Although the show had many rough spots, it was hilarious and well worth the problems
