"Because I don't play" isn't an option on Blizzard's quit page
Which is what he eventually typed in. Like so many things with Blizzard, it would be fascinating to see the stats behind the information they're getting here -- do they see a little bump in quitters every time new patch notes come out? Is customer support really the biggest issue people have, or is harassment a major reason for people leaving as well? Just boredom with the game seems like it would be a huge reason to me, but there's not really a clear option for that either.
Unfortunately, we'll probably never know the real stats behind this -- Blizzard isn't going to be revealing why people are leaving their game anytime soon. But it does seem strange that some of the biggest reasons you'd expect aren't on their list of possibles at all.

Not to be a troll here, but isn't the 6th reason listed in the drop down menu in the pic attached to the article "I don't have enough time to play anymore?"

Wow...there are a lot of people who can't seem to spot a photoshop when they see one

If I may be so bold as to attempt to clarify the disconnect here once and for all...
Yes, 'I don't have enough time to play any more' is an option and has been for ages.
The blogger being linked to is amused by a lack of 'I just don't play any more' option, however, in this article relaying that, the Schrammster mistakenly reiterated the wrong 'this is why I quit' explanation being lacking.

I just cancelled my account a week ago and that option was there. I dont see the point of this post anymore. That would fall under "I like the game but don't have time to play".
As for me i cancelled under the option "The content is boring" or something like that. I got tired of the reputation grinds, heroic/raid farms for gear that never drops or i lose to other players, all the changes to the classes and the changes to pvp that make no longer fun and i got tired of doing all that stuff over and over and over and then do it all over again on an alt. Two years of that shit is enough. So in the description i said all that and thanks for runining a game that was once fun.

I've been looking for a reason to stop reading WoW Insider for awhile now. This may be it.
Becky May 29th 2009 1:14PM
Yea that is what I was gonna post. Seems they would have noticed that before posting this article , but oh well.
Alavan May 29th 2009 1:39PM
This is one of the only times I have to say "WoWInsider Fail."

I hate to be one of those dicks who point out flaws in this site, but I feel this is a pretty major one. 'Not having time to play anymore' is actually one of the reasons, and it's right there in the screenshot you're using.
The blog you're referring to is referring to something different, I believe. It's pretty ambiguous. But you should probably change the wording of your post: saying that 'not having time to play' isn't one of the reasons when your own screenshot contradicts you... Yeah. Should probably get fixed.

The quoted blog post is just as bad. "I just don't play anymore" isn't a reason why you don't play anymore. If you're quiting the game it's obvious that you don't play any more and just repeating that idea bypasses the whole reason for having the feedback option: to change the game in order to increase player retention.
The funniest part of the original article is that the author clearly stated why he was quiting: he was only playing for the purpose of testing Windows 7 and how well WoW runs on it. That's a fairly esoteric reason it falls safely in the "other" category.

They even tried to blur the line a bit in comparison to the others. O_o

Your right.It is
Absintheur May 29th 2009 9:17AM
Actually, not having time IS an option. I know this because I just used it when I canceled my subscription a week ago. (Yes I still read your site, but with a new baby, time is at a premium) Its just not one of the main reasons. You select "Other" from the first list and a whole new list appears, its in there.
Naix May 29th 2009 9:39AM
I know plenty of raiders who have multiple children that still play.
DeathPaladin May 29th 2009 12:01PM
That's fine, Naix. There are plenty of others who don't.
Alexander Graf May 29th 2009 9:15AM
This has always been there... Nonsense article, really. "Bored" is pretty much the only reason that's missing in the dropdown.
GoldenWyvern May 29th 2009 12:22PM
Hmm. For me, "Bored" falls under "Left for another game". Or, "Play too much." With the unspoken, "And ran out of things to do".
Actually, I suppose "Military Deployment" could be "Bored" as well. "Geez, Warcraft just doesn't have the appeal for me anymore. I know, I'll join the Army!" :)
