Vince sent us this tip from Just my Two Copper:
a quick Cobalt circuit in case you're a high level miner and want to spend a few minutes making some ingame money. Truth is, everyone has this various routes that they take in game, whether they be your recent run of dailies, a gathering run (I used to know the Swamp of Sorrows by heart when I was leveling up Herbalism, and even now I've got my own places to go in Sholazar to pick up as much leather as possible), or even a run around to see if you can find some of the rare spawns (
the Time-Lost Proto Drake or maybe the
spirit beast).
What are some of your favorite, most ingrained (in your mind), or most profitable runs in game? They aren't really a trade secret -- AHs tend to change from server to server, and even if a certain ore or item comes into demand, it's usually because no one wants to farm it, not because it's not out there to find. But we do get set in our patterns -- what are some of yours?

I do the leather/chilled meat run in Scholozar too... basically, I hit the gray gorilla mobs with my gorilladin (ironic, I s'pose) all along the mid-eastern part of the zone... this way I hover over a loque spot as well, you know, just in case he happens to show up while I'm doing this. If I'm doing the rhino meat run, I actually head to the Tundra and get the mobs just near the amber ledge, again with the gorilladin.... makes short work of farming all that good stuff.

Thorium ore by just running around Burning Steppes (just stick to the outsides), did that one alot, even when everyone else was already running around in outland ... it leveled mining just fine.
I'm a bit surprised you're not putting this one in the Gold making section :-)
Slaytanic May 29th 2009 12:12PM
Same. Love the Thorium route. Nice & quiet nowadays. And Thorium actually sells for more on my server than Saronite (probably because we don't have the extreme ease of a flying mount.)
Unfortunately, all of my Gatherer data was lost when 3.1 came out. All my beautiful sites.....all my Titanium and Everfrost Chip coordinates.....lost.
I mean, sure I can get a mod like GatherMate that automatically tells me every single site....but where is the fun in that? The thrill of the hunt is finding a previously undiscovered node.

In the Storm Peaks, there's an area where Iron Dwarves are unearthing a Colossus or a Titan or something, I don't really know. But, if you make a circuit killing only one or two at a time, you can have a constant and steady flow of mobs that will drop Relics of Ulduar, along with greens and greys that sell for a considerable amount. I've found that this is a ridiculously popular and not-well-used area to farm for straight profit.
shuffleboardsniper May 29th 2009 8:22AM
EDIT: I meant ridiculously profitable, not popular.

"and not-well-used area"
Until people read it here ofc :P

I run into the middle of a large group of Rhinos at the Engine of the Makers, hit the AoE Thunder to cause flying rhinos :D
Magma totem and CL and 6 dead rhinos later, result
Also funny to do when laying bombs for Argent Crusade quest "A chip off the old block" as the Rhinos get an earful of rubble too :D
mageofthesands May 29th 2009 8:54AM
Yeah, until dragons come down and kill steals your rhinos. Jerks.

My loop is a fishing loop. Dragonfin Angelfish sell for a good amount on my server, so I start at the lake right at the top of Dragonblight (on the eastern edge, right by the border to Grizzly Hills) and fish up and down that river. If no one else is pool fishing that loop, the pool respawn rate is pretty fast, there are almost no mobs to kill, and I can get several stacks an hour.

Last night I found this amazing guide/route to 25 dailies
(yes, it includes AT ofc)

5 vids, all free, 25 dailies in 1h20 ish.

Simply doing 25 dailies on 2 toons, which takes about 2 to 2.5 hours in total...and gives me 700g a day. Not including all of the trash that I get along the way, which must add about 10-20g on top of that a day.

When I was leveling rep with the Sons of Hodir, the Ebon Blade and the Oracles at the same time I had a pretty solid daily routine. You could have probably tracked my location by how long I'd been logged on.
5mins: Thunderfall, blowing Hodir's Horn.
10mins: Trying to slay a Frost Wyrm.
25 mins: Jotunheim, Shooting down protodrakes.
etc.
It was pretty much the same while working towards my Crusader Title.

My farming routes I pretty much going to be the ones that were not detroyed by this post. :-)~
Though, I will share one tip while mining ore. I will call out Titanium node at a point I just visited, this way, if there are any other miners in the zone, they will all flock towards the coordinates while I clean up on the fresh areas.
Slaytanic May 29th 2009 12:17PM
That's fucked up.
......can't wait to try it.

The ghost run from the graveyard at what is now Thorium Point to Blackrock Mountain following a wipe in any of the instances or raids there. Once you've fallen in the Slag Pit you vow to never let it happen again, but it inevitably will. I still remember every obstacle, slope, and turn on the way there... 3-4 years on.

Starting out in Dal I grab the fishing and cooking quests. Sometimes the cooking quest can be completed without leaving Dal; if so, I do this. Then it's off to the Argent Tourney, where I grab all of the champion and valiant quests.
Start questing at the Argent Tourney with the jousting until there's room for me in a Chillmaw group. Hit up Chillmaw, then head south of for Citadel quests; then it's over the border for possibly to gather Winter Hyacinths; if not that quests then definitely Jack Me Some Lumber.
Generally after that I head either to get Winter's Edge or the blade, depending on the quest. Then I'll hearth the Dal and head immediately to Storm Peaks for "Chip" quest (while spamming /target Time-lost). After completion I head to Brunn. Village to do their single daily; then to Dun Niff to do the 6 Hodir dailies (for cash, rep is maxed). After Hodir dailies I fly back to Argent Tourney to finish any remaining quests there and finally wrap up with the fishing quest if I haven't knocked it off already. Hearth to Dal with roughly 250 more gold in my bag, at least 100g worth of auctionable items, and about 20 dailies complete.
This generally takes me no more than 1 hour.

The addon ROUTES is THE best mod in the game (well, after QuestHelper Maybe). Taking dater from Gatherer, it creates an optimised route on your map and/or on your minimap to follow. So much better than just flying around aimlessly.
Vandal May 29th 2009 9:08AM
lol I meant data* :P
paperbull May 29th 2009 9:54AM
I use ROUTES all the time for my gathering professions. Love it
tresser May 29th 2009 10:00AM
Not just Gatherer, but also the data dump from GatherMate, and stuff from Cartographer as well. Perfect for maping out where Netherwing Eggs or Everfrost chips spawn.
