Phat Loot Phriday: Nurturing Touch

Name: Nurturing Touch (Wowhead, Thottbot, Armory)
Type: Epic Wand
Damage/Speed: 378-702 / 1.80 (300 DPS)
Attributes:
- +29 Stamina, +26 Intellect, and +24 Spirit
- Improves crit strike rating by 20, and spell power by 39
- Pretty straightforward wand -- nothing too special about it. But it is a nice one, and it's likely an upgrade from anything you've gotten in Naxx or the earlier raid instances.
- In fact, the most interesting thing about it is simply cosmetic -- that front part of it rotates in a very Ulduar-esque way, and when you use it to cast, a holy burst shoots out of it. As mana has become more and more prevalent, wands are more and more useless, but if you're raiding at this level and can use this one on your way to hard Ulduar, it's not a bad upgrade to take.
Getting Rid of It: Sells back to vendors for 16g 4s 17c, and disenchants into an Abyss Crystal. But you might want to keep it -- it almost seems so distinctive it should go with a Hallow's End costume of some kind, but I can't think of what.

Disenchants into a Void Crystal? I don't think so.

Abyss, void, all the same, right?

"obviously Priests and caster healers"
Priests are the only healers that can use wands.

OK so, I am new to playing casters, just recently got my mage to lvl 30, so maybe there is something I don't understand:
What would make this a healer wand?
Aside from the fact that my character is too low, this looks like it would be good for mages:
+29 Stamina Really good for a cloth wearer
+26 Intellect Big mana and spell crit boost
+24 Spirit Who cant use faster health regen and/or mana regen
Is there something I don't understand?

It may be the fact that there are other wands availible with +hit on them, and those would be better suited for mages or warlocks.
That's not to say they both can't use this wand too.

Prior to 3.1, spirit was pretty useless to mages. Even after 3.1, it isn't that useful. There's much better mage wands out there than this one. Gemmed Wand of the Nerubians from Naxx was best in slot until Ulduar, now I have a few more upgrades on my radar.
Gemmed Wand of the Nerubians:
18 Hit
22 Haste
37 Spellpower
In the end though, I ignore spirit on items and go by the green stats. In this case, crit and spellpower are quite nice, but 20 crit and 2 spellpower doesn't make up for 18 hit and 22 haste.

This is an AMAZING wand for mages.
I've got gemmed wand of the nerubians now, but I'm WAY over hit cap, even with no hit talents (fire/TTW spec).
I'd definitely spend dkp on this wand. RAWR has it as a signficant upgrade from GWotN for me.
Of course, priests (and other mages and warlocks with good gear) will be gunning for this too.

Hit capped Affliction warlocks like Spirit too :). We get 30% of our Spirit as spell damage.
And it does look really cool!
But obviously, anyone in the group that could use it more would get dibs.

Holy damage too. Makes me want it even more for my Priest.

I didn't even know there WERE any Holy wands... all I ever see is fire, frost, arcane, sometimes shadow and the occasional nature, never holy.

I lost this wand yesterday because some tard looted Auriaya while I was DCed. >:[ (was present for the full fight except the last ~20 seconds and they knew I was offline.....)
Grr.
Anyway, do want.

This is the 6th Holy Damage wand in the entire game. The rest you can find linked on the comments here: http://www2.wowhead.com/?item=38206#comments
all but two having been added in with Wrath
It's nice to use if you're a caster soloing Scholomance that can't cast Holy spells as the majority of the skellys in one of the rooms are immune to other schools of magic. (is a good thing they don't hit hard anymore :D ) Plus, there's aren't many resistances to Holy damage in the game, with the exception to things that give resistance to all forms of magic. Well, that and the graphics look cool too.
