IP addresses aren't the full story, however, they get you close. wow.com uses at least 4 browser cookies: userid, votes, RememberAuthorEmail, and reports. If they were able to correlate unique cookies across those IP addresses in that subnet (or by unique cookie alone which would be excellent too), then you could be pretty certain that they were the same person/using the same machine. Kudos to the staff for parsing their logs and bringing cold hard facts to the discussion. another fine reason why i enjoy this blog!
