Blizzard launches Ulduar Bosstiary
Although this comes a little late for a few players, not everybody is raiding Ulduar yet, and those that are haven't necessarily cleared it. To help appease your curiosity about what creatures lurk within the latest raid, or if you simply want to know a bit about the background of the guys that have been handing you purples recently, check out Blizzard's latest web feature, the Bosstiary.
It's an interactive map of Ulduar (same graphics as the in-game map), and if you click on any of the boss icons, it pops up a little paragraph about the boss. For instance, did you know that Auriaya is Ulduar's archivist? Makes sense - librarians love cats. Also, apparently Kologarn was created by Ignis. I guess Iggy must have been a big Monty Python fan.
I think this is a neat way to learn a little more about the story behind the bosses. I hope they continue doing this for raids to come.

I feel embarassed for never realizing Veranus was Razorscale. :(
I mean, how did Veranus give birth to mini-rusted babies?!
Grock Jun 5th 2009 11:13AM
And suspicions are confirmed; Razorscale is indeed Veranus. Interesting tidbits.

Cthulhu fhtagn! What a wonderful Phrase!
Cthulhu fhtagn! Means the end of daaaays!
You're gonna be eaten, in non-Euclidean waaaays!
It's our sanity free, Eschatology,
Cthulhu f'taghn!!
DoctorOnline Jun 5th 2009 11:35AM
Well with all that noise he's not going to be fhtagn' much longer. :D

So, which fantasy mythos will we see melded into Warcraft next?
Yogg-Sauron... HP Lovecraft meets Tolkien (in the library, with the candlestick).
And northrend is rife with bastardized Norse mythology.
I wonder if we will see Polynesian or caribbean mythology morphed next?
DoctorOnline Jun 5th 2009 11:41AM
Well, we've already seen two Lovecraft final bosses [C'thun=K'thun, Yogg-Saron=Yog-Sothoth], so I'm willing to bet good money that if the Maelstrom is indeed the next expansion, Blizzard's got a Cthulhu-esque baddie up their sleeves.

Oh, wow. Awesome! As a huge lore geek I love stuff like this. I know they probably won't do it for all the past raids, but I hope they keep it up for the future!

Might be nice to have something similar that is like a chart of all the old world raids and as you moush over it gives some info on each one.

I saw it this morning and to be honest I was a little dissapointed.
I feel like if blizzard is going to do this they should make a little bit more information available when you role over a boss icon. Anybody with decent flash skills could make this.
I am not trying to QQ I just feel like a company like blizzard can make something a little deeper then a role-over tooltip.

"I am not trying to QQ".
???
Isn't that exactly what you did?
