Recount lags a bit and its bit different how it records it as far as I know.
You might have 1.2k dps middle of fight doing average damage but then suddenly at end you pop trinkets, cooldowns etc at the end when you burst and recount gets your dps to 1.9k (or otherway that you go oom at the end and dps drops) then the fight ends and it records the last dps seconds of the fight and shows it on the list.
Thats the impression i've got. Therefore dps readings are worse than damage done.
