Breakfast Topic: Cross-character consistency
Most of us probably have alts at this point. On my main server, I have a character of each class (and besides the shaman and the mage, they're all at least level 40). And all of them that have leveled past Feralas have a Sprite Darter Hatchling to love and call their own. I like keeping at least something constant across all the different classes.
I've met people who use consistent naming schemes, which is helpful because it makes it easier to tell which alts go with which mains. I've met people that get the same color shirt on all their alts, although it's hard to see under all that armor. Some people like to take the same leveling path every time (like me), some people like to shake it up.
I even know someone who's leveled the same class to 80 several times - Warrior no less. But Rossi is widely considered to be crazy.
If you have alts, is there anything you always do the same way across all of them?

Before I quit, I had 3 paladins at level 80, one for each spec.
2 had a variation of the name of the original.
Of course I had them before Dual Spec came out, don't think I would've made them had that been out a lot sooner :P

I try to keep the same keybindings so i don't have to redesign my UI every time i make a new character, and seeing as most of my characters have the frost wyrm pet, i try to keep that out at all times because he's cute, but apart from that, not much.
Distaris Jun 6th 2009 8:14AM
All of my alts of the same class have the same name. For example, all of my Rogues are Emiline and all my Death Knights are Calebella. My main is the only Distaris, she's the boss so I will never name another alt (even if they are a Mage) named Distaris. And all of my Alliance characters are female.
I only have two Hordies, a Forsaken female warrior and a Tauren male warrior so the naming thing doesn't really apply to them. Yet. If I roll more Horde side I will probably keep with the same naming rule as the Alliance characters.

All my characters have names that start with a vowel. it's usually A, but sometimes I vary that a bit.

i really only have 1 decent alt, a 63 druid, and i've been knocking quests out the same way, but nothing else similar i can think of.

I have a shaman as my main and my priest as my alt. When I rolled my priest, I tried to keep any of the same or similar spells on the same key bindings. My lesser healing wave/flash heal is the same mouse button, dispel is on the same key, as are the "pets" (feral spirit wolves and shadowfiend), and my "oh-shit" buttons on the same keys :)
I also have the same two first letters the same on my characters: Raphealite and Raevenn

Actually, I try to keep my characters as DIFFERENT as possible. No two of them have the same race/class combo and none use the same talent tree.
To keep them straight, I've been following an alphabetic naming scheme: Al, Bob, Charlie, Dennis, etc.

yeah actually that's pretty much what i did. my main is a warrior who can obviously tank/melee dps, so i made a druid who is duel spec'd to be a healer and a boomkin.

I always take my alts to ZF so I can get Carrot on a Stick :)
Ceradene Jun 6th 2009 8:40AM
I really can't think of anything too obvious that I do with my alts. Only, perhaps, that most of my character's names end with -ri. But I suppose that's just because I like how the names sound.
The only exception is my priest Ceradene (obviously my nickname) who was named after an old friend of mine. :)

Sigh, havent there already been an article like this one before but on WoWInsider?

I always make sure to do the tedious Linken questchain starting in Un'Goro on my alts. So far I've done it 8 times.
Karilyn Jun 6th 2009 8:56AM

Cooking. And easy-to-obtain pets.
Just yesterday I wiped my 62 hunter through DM East solo (about half of the deaths were caused by accidentally hopping down into the middle tree zone, when I just wanted to get on the ledge to avoid patrols) to get the Runn Tum recipe, easier way to level Cooking 275-300 than the Silithus Worm recipe, which only starts at 285 anyway, forcing you to skill further with bear flanks.
Anyway, my 4 70+ characters all have Cooking at least near to 400, of course 2 of them had the Chef Hat before my main (because he spent his tokens on recipes)
And I always do the Crocolisk daily on all of them for the pets, used the fish gained there to skill Cooking on my bank chars, can bring you to 180 (with a lot of fish though, from 160 on the catfish is green)
My two Blood Elfs had the Mana Wyrmling pet from shortly after creation.

Since many people mentioned naming schemata, I can say that besides the primary herb bank char whose name translates to "herb hoard", and my shaman, which I initially created to reserve a nickname of my main's name, all my characters on my main server have unique, thought-up names, though I re-used some of those names for characters on other servers.
Fremastr Jun 6th 2009 10:11AM
first character was
fremastr on alliance switched to horde named him
retsamerf and the alts following
fremastr

Ragnarocket Jun 6th 2009 9:24AM
For the most part I try to keep my characters with an R and random theme.
The main is Ragnarocket and I have alts that follow that theme such as my druid Raeio!
