Zarhym talks about the Isle of Conquest battleground
So one of the things we have coming our way in patch 3.2 will be the new Isle of Conquest battleground. Unfortunately, we don't know much more about it than the name, but that has not stopped everyone from speculating on what it could bring, whether it be a combination of some of the old mechanics from previous battlegrounds (Much like Eye of the Storm was a combination of Arathi Basin and Warsong Gulch) or completely new ideas. There's been hints it's more like Alterac Valley than other old battlegrounds, but for now, we're waiting impatiently for the PTR in the hopes of getting a real look.Zarhym chimed in on one of these threads a couple days ago, and while he mostly told people they'd have to wait and see, one reply he did give suggests a sneak peek into what the battleground could be: "If "conquest" means the ability to catapult or parachute players behind enemy lines, then yes."
Ok, so it's not much, but it's there. There will be Catapults, and we will be flinging players in them! I know one of my favorite things to do in Alterac Valley back when it lasted hours was to sneak behind enemy lines to capture objectives or gather Frostwolf Hides and the like. Of course, I could do this because I played a stealthing Druid. Non-stealthers generally did not have the ability to sneak past all the PCs and NPCs blocking their way. But the idea of sending paratrooping special forces in to complete small objectives or even just flank the enemy is just plain sort of cool, if it ends up working out like that.
Beyond that, Zarhym also hinted that the Battleground revamp is coming along, but of course, once again, he had no information to offer. Will we see it in Patch 3.2? Hopefully, the PTR will come up soon and we'll know more for sure.

I'm fine with catapults, only if we do not have to destroy them, destroy buildings or see flying people everywhere.
I just want a Sword to Sword - Magic to Magic fight, not with these dumb sieges.
Ravasha Jun 7th 2009 12:21PM
In my opinion, sieges have to remain special, maybe a new siege fight next expansion is fine.
But not too much.
I think 'SotA' and WinterGrasp are enough.
I rather have a Battleground where you have to be the first one to kill 500/1000 kills to win, more of a DeathMatch, these sieges remove the 'PvP' feeling from it.
yokumgang Jun 7th 2009 12:30PM
I say have NPC's control the sieges. Not us. We're not just some grunts - we are the heroes of the arena, the saviors of the Warsong, the Defenders of the Stormpike.
Ravasha Jun 7th 2009 12:34PM
Oh, and I am also hoping they're not making more Titan-style buildings.
(They really should add an edit button.)
Bubsa Jun 7th 2009 12:17PM
So, you're saying that me and my fellow knights will attempt to get inside enemy lines/castles by using a catapult?
It's not a cow catapult by any chance, is it?

cowtapult
an elegant weapon for a more civilized age.

I really hope they will provide a way, in this new battleground, to get reputation with old battlegrounds "managers" (The Defilers, Warsong Riders, Frostwolf Clan.) Otherwise, it may be just as boring as Strand of Ancients.
Also... Did they fix the problem that Horde ALWAYS start defending Strand?
Ravasha Jun 7th 2009 12:23PM
They were going to make a 'Dice' in it, so it would be random who would start defending.
Taladan Jun 7th 2009 12:33PM
@Ravasha: Yup, it's that "dice" I'm talking about. They mentioned it a few weeks after Strand appeared and said that "there was a small glitch in the code and that's why Horde always start first" (or something around those lines.) And that's why I'm asking: They are talking about a completely new battleground and still can fix a "small glitch" in one of their current battlegrounds...

DWARF-A-PULT!
Spazmoose Jun 8th 2009 1:59PM
Gimli: Oh come on, we can take 'em.
Aragorn: It's a long way.
Gimli: Toss me.
Aragorn: What?
Gimli: I cannot jump the distance, you'll have to toss me.
[pauses, looks up at Aragorn]
Gimli: Don't tell the elf.
Aragorn: Not a word.

You must be so proud. Your children's children will remember this momentous achievement and celebrate in your honor.

I'm still waiting for a battleground with no objectives besides massacring the opposing force. Last man standing type. Two large forces colliding. Like in the movies!
In this setup everyone will be forced to fulfill their role as tank, healer or cannon fodder to achieve victory.
Taladan Jun 7th 2009 7:51PM
Yeah. A "King of the Hill" style BG would be awesome, with everybody running to the same place.

Horde AV base? Run straight to aid
Burori Jun 7th 2009 6:54PM
He is talking about Pre BC where the objective of AV was kill those Hord/AF foos. Where a game would last anywhere from 6hrs to multiple days. Back when av was... you know... fun... and not a base race...
I miss those days >.> The current av is just stupid.
HumbleOpinion Jun 7th 2009 7:21PM
Oh to the hours spent in AV, pre-cross realms! Couldn't wait to get home from work, get some good dinner, then to battle! Those were some good times. Being a rogue (special OPs) was the best. And the battle with Korak the Bloodrager!
ToyChristopher Jun 7th 2009 4:35PM
I wish it was something different. I so want an invade the castle type thing where the battleground is smaller and indoors with less people.
I also think there should be a battleground that is a deathmatch. That seems to be what most players actually want.
molster Jun 7th 2009 4:39PM
Hey, WoW.com had an article about this awhile ago, its going to be fixed in 3.2 and is actully NOT at all an easy fix, it has something to do about starting on the moveing platforms that makes it hard in their code, do a search and you should be able to find the artcile (sorry i cant remeber the name of it)
fearinlight Jun 7th 2009 4:41PM
This thing didnt "reply" right
