Breakfast Topic: What do you think of the new Druid cat forms?
Hot the heels of the new druid bear forms revealed last week, it was time for the cats out there to get a make over and Blizzard revealed the new Tauren look on Tuesday with Night Elves following on Thursday. Personally I think both sets look awesome and as an Alliance druid, I actually like my cat form as is. However I know an awful lot of Tauren druids have been unhappy with their pseudo-lion's lackluster looks and there are probably some Night Elf Druids out there who are little bored as well. I'm still waiting, in hope that the equally boring travel form might see a revamp too but that's for another day.So come on Druids, are you pleased with how your cat forms turned out? What about you non-Druids out there? Are you now tempted to reroll just to try out the new form? Don't like the look? Are the Tauren cat forms now realistic enough? Do you think your Night Elf kitty now feels more fuzzball (like my Ceridwen here) than ferocious killer? Do you think Blizzard could have done better or be a little more imaginative with the designs? Go on, speak up, and tell us what you think.

I am completely in love with the Tauren designs. Finally I can kick back in raids, and look at the bears and kitties without feeling that burning feeling in my eyes. The nelf ones were not all that bad, but seeing as the Tauren ones were the worst ones, it's natural that the change looks bigger on that side.
Personally I'm not a druid, but I've been playing with the thought of leveling up an alt just for the looks. Because, well. Shapeshifted Taurens now look amazing.

personally, i think the forms look great. but that's not really the point is it? that's not what druids have been asking for - for four years.
we wanted our placeholder travel and tauren aquatic forms replaced with whatever blizz originally had in mind for those. we wanted distinguishment between level 10/20 and max level, and distinguishment between crap gear and full tier. what we wanted was to not look the same all day every day no matter what.
what we got was new models with color variations. some people like them and some people don't, but what is most upsetting is that with this announcement by blizzard is the message that they haven't heard anything we've been saying and now that people are saying 'hold on there a second,' blizz is telling us to shut up and like it.
the difference between flight form and swift flight form is noticeable at a glance, the latter being more brightly colored and adorned with with some trinkets and armor. blizz told us that what we would get would be comparable, but i feel they either completely missed the point or just don't care.

Droods will be the hottest thing since Blood Elf females!
Can’t wait to see the dances!!
Gonna go level me one!!!
...
Seriously, is there no other topic to blog on that re-hashing 'new druid form' posts again and again and again?
I mean, yeah, thanks for the drood love Blizz, and when I get around to it I’ll level my Tauren druid from 70 to 80, but in the meantime, will WoW.com bloggers please give it a rest already?!

Some are cool some are weird to me.

I know I will work more on my druid because of the new forms. The idea of having his own personal bear/cat form is too exciting to pass up. I don't care if the night elf cat form looks a little girly with the shiny baubles; I like sparkly things. >.>
I'm also very tempted to roll a Tauren druid, because those forms are just gorgeous. I love the rich, natural colours, and am severely jealous of them.

FAIL.

Short and to the point! I like. And I agree - I wasn't sure how I felt about the new forms at first, but they're definitely growing on me. Of course, I play moonkin/resto, but I think I'll still dust off my cat/bear buttons and spend some time wandering around Dalaran!

Well, I'm a fan of a change, but the change has made them look more canine than feline- at least in the face.
If I could make one simple change, it would be to allow for different facial textures, so that not every single one had the long-scrunch face look.
Landorf Jun 8th 2009 8:34AM
...you do know that felines are the ones with scrunch faces and canines are the one with long faces (think tiger face versus wolf face) so I have no idea what you're asking for here
Kaylek Jun 8th 2009 9:54AM
As a zoologist, I can say there's nothing canine about these designs.
In general, I think if anyone has a major problem with these, that person would never be happy. Night elves aren't ferocious to begin with, and Taurens look great (they're a fuckin' lion!).
Fox Jun 8th 2009 10:52AM
@ Kaylek
According to Warcraft III, Night Elves are supposed to be very ferocious! When they first awoke defending their forests, the orcs were pretty freaked out by these tall, ferocious women.
Sadly, WOW has softened them up a LOT... I blame the [gameplay > story] principle, when they were put with the Alliance. :/

@fox
Also, blame the ERPers in Goldshire.
cyndigirl47 Jun 8th 2009 6:39PM
@Fox
As far as the game play>story part goes, I'm pretty sure the Night Elves are still pretty angry about the Orc's continued incursion and slaughter of their forest.

I have a lvl 62 druid and I'll probably pick him back up for a bit to play, but I've never been a huge druid fan, so I don't think it'll be enough to get me to focus on him too much. That being said, the new forms look awesome. It's nice to see a tauren cat form that doesn't look like the lion from Wizard of Oz after he had his head beat in with a brick for half an hour, lol.
Robert M Jun 8th 2009 10:54AM
Hmm, that's a pretty interesting comment. I have always wondered why certain people don't like to play a specific class. I have an alt for every class but a warrior. I usually get to about level 15 or so and then abandon them. I don't like playing a warrior and can't really put my finger on why.
pmcdaniel84 Jun 8th 2009 8:18AM
I like em, I play both a horde and alliance druid. That being said I think the tauren got the better models overall, though that could be due to the fact that I hate that my alliance druid somehow became my main. I think they need to provide another "masculine" model color scheme ect for the NE's but overall I think its ok and am really grateful for the changes.
trikrib Jun 8th 2009 8:19AM
I don't like the new face of the tauren cat forms. Some of them looks too much like a gnu.
But its good that they finaly update the looks of them though :p
Still waiting for a revamp on the classic race models though. Been the same for 4 years now :(
