The Daily Quest: No seriously, that glyph is horrible

- The second edition of the Hearthstone Tavern podcast has gone live, this week featuring many new lore and RP segments.
- Alterac Volley is feeling the hurt of Blizzard discouraging players from going to Wintergrasp. Do you still go to Wintergrasp, even after the change to the daily quests?
- Again, we're a few days late, but all of our RPers out there should answer Anna's Friday Five!
- So... the Glyph of Disease is kind of terrible, says Runeforge Gossip.

Glyph of Disease... It really isn't THAT horrible. As a frost Tank, I use pestilence to keep my Blade Barrier Active and Obliterate hitting like a truck on whichever mob I'm hitting

our WG participation is waay down…i only do it once a week or twice a week now, where i used to do it a couple times a day.
…but i don’t think its just the fact that they changed the quests from daily to weekly.
1) the only WG mark gear that i don’t have is the 40mark chest piece (i have the boots, belt, 2xtrinkets, and helm). i have the shard mount and shoulders for my alt. there’s really not much motivation any more for me to get marks or shards so why keep grinding? most everyone who did WG on a daily basis has all the gear....many of them have been honor-capped for awhile so honor isn't even a motivator.
2) pugging vault is now just a stupid idea. no pug i've been in gets past emalaon and they all want to do emalon before archie…so you can sit in there for an hour and not do crap till the pug falls apart. there is no longer any motivation to go into vault. where it used to be a great, quick raid (with a chance for a mount even)...now its just a headbang gear-repair with 0 bosses down.
3) also…its very discouraging now that the horde are consistently using the glitch to get all their vehicles up-front. defending lasts less than 5 minutes now so no one wants to even bother with it.

I've actually gotta disagree pretty strongly about the glyph of disease for a blood spec, and would point out that the article's writer completely neglects the existence of Death Rune Mastery.
For every rotation, without the glyph you run this:
PS-IT-HS-HS-DS-Dump // HS-HS-HS-HS-DS-Dump
With it, for each rotation after the first you run this (keeping in mind you'll always have two death runes up from the trailing DS):
Pest-HS-HS-HS-DS-Dump // HS-HS-HS-HS-DS-Dump
If one HS does more damage for you than the strike portions of a PS + IT (it does, by a wide margin), you're coming out significantly ahead on every rotation. If it bugs (which, I should note, is not nearly as prevalent now) you're just on the hook to run a normal rotation once before you're back on track- not the end of the world.
Also, for AoE? Replace all of the heart strikes above with blood boils for fun and profit.

I can't stand the QQ about Wintergrasp and Dailies becoming Weekly's. Yes, I also miss the 40 - 70 shards that can be made in a day, but really playing Wintergrasp is the reward itself. The only thing I don't like about it is the lag and anything Blizzard can do to get rid of it is welcomed, even if it gets rid of non-dedicated PvP'ers.
You play PvP because you enjoy it and want to get better at it. The bonus is steady honor points, marks and shards and thus gear.

I think the issue here is not whether death strike is better than IT/PS, or whether HS does more than Pest. The problem here, is whether blood should go disease-less or not.
If you go disease-less, the only thing changed is that the HS's do a small bit less per hit. Your rotation is still going to be HS-HS-DS-DS -> HS-HS-HS-HS-HS-HS (ignoring dumps, since it doesn't apply here). if you are a disease spec, you are definately going to be using the glyph, since a blood rune for pestilence is way better to keep up diseases than doing IT/PS instead of a death strike (which, btw the way, also has the added benefit of generating death runes).
Thus, ignoring bugs, accidental drop-off of diseases, dumps, inital fight start rotation, etc, your ideal rotations are:
Disease: Pest-HS*-DS-DS -> HS*-HS*-HS*-HS*-HS*-HS*
Disease-less: HS-HS-DS-DS -> HS-HS-HS-HS-HS-HS
* = bonus damage for diseases being up.
Notice the difference? Overall, the only difference is that in one, you do pest instead of a HS, but when you DO do HS, it does more damage than in the other rotation.
Thus, you need to figure out if the BONUS DAMAGE on 7 HS' do more than one bonus-less HS in the other rotation.
I believe the answer is yes, you do more damage with disease rotation (and the glyph), but every time your diseases fall off, the initial setup rotation is going to be weaker than disease-less', and you lose ground. If that happens enough, then it's not worth it using the glyph, let alone diseases at all.

@WisakedJak
Glyph of Disease can potentially be a DPS increase for Blood, the inherent problem is that it is markedly inferior to Dark Death, DRW and Death Strike even in ideal conditions.
First, realize that the big change in your rotation isn't substituting IT->PS for DS, but IT->PS for Pes->HS. HS does do more damage than the direct damage of IT->PS, but not by all that much. Typical gaps range from 500-1000 damage. As such, your DPS gain over a 20 second cycle is 25-50 DPS.
However, to support Glyph of Disease in this fashion *requires* 2/2 Epidemic. Normally the second point is avoided because the disease tick at 21 seconds will never happen when you refresh diseases every 20 seconds. For Glyph of Disease the second point is necessary, or else you can't refresh your disease without huge disruptions in your rotation.
The talent point has to come from another DPS talent, meaning the 20-50 DPS above is gross, not net. A single point from Necrosis, for example, could easily create a net loss. Obviously there are better choices, but all of them decrease the DPS gain noticeably.
Finally, for all that effort the aforementioned three DPS glyph options are at *least* twice as good, before you factor in DPS lost from swapping talent points or from the bugs causing diseases to drop early.
@Nick
You're forgetting one point, a diseased rotation without Glyph of Disease will cast IT->PS. Together their direct damage and diseases will do more damage than either two HS or one DS. Factor in that HS damage will be increased by the diseases and it should be clear why Diseaseless rotations died with 3.1.
