Actually, I think this is intentional. In the cinematic for World of Warcraft (pre-TBC), the Nelf's hands are very thin with elongated fingers, yet we're talking CGI that is (at that time) nearly true-to-life.

Of course, the ham-handed human models in-game...um...yyyyeah.
