Around Azeroth: And it stoned me
Do any of you old-school Final Fantasy types remember the spell Break? It was supposed to inflict the status "Petrify" on your enemies, turning them to stone. But just like Blind, Confuse, Doom and Toad, it never seemed to work quite as well on opponents as it worked on your character. Bonaduce of <Swords for Hire> on Quel'dorei has discovered the root of the problem. It seems that status-effect-inducing spells tend to jump through space and time to land in other games entirely. This particular petrification spell is hitting a dwarf in an Ironforge basement here in 2009, but it was really cast at a Veil Dancer in Zozo back in 1995. By me.
Do you have any unusual, beautiful or interesting World of Warcraft images that are just collecting dust in your screenshots folder? We'd love to see them on Around Azeroth! Sharing your screenshot is as simple as e-mailing aroundazeroth@gmail.com with a copy of your shot and a brief explanation of the scene. You could be featured here next!
Remember to include your player name, server and/or guild if you want it mentioned. Please include the word "Azeroth" in your post so it does not get swept into the spam bin. We strongly prefer full screen shots without the UI showing -- use alt-Z to remove it. Please, no more battleground scoreboards, gold seller ads, or pictures of the Ninja Turtles in Dalaran.

Phillip Howell Jun 9th 2009 10:44AM
It really is an amazing reference. I would never have expected a Van Morrison lyric in a WI post title.
Bigface Jun 9th 2009 12:11PM
Yes, easily the best RPG ever.
Jehanne Jun 9th 2009 12:22PM
I love that game so much, but he's right about break and confuse. XD Now I know why they never worked!
Sargenus Jun 10th 2009 5:29AM

I know, but I couldn't help but have Dylan start up in my mind, so I thought I'd share a little hippy-ism :-)

Im not sure where to put this comment.. so here it is
On your "Up Coming Events" on the right hand side, you have Darkmoon Faire in Terrokar 06/8 - 06/15..
However on the official WoW site it says its in Elwynn Forest during that time.
Just something I noted.. (I have a nobles deck to turn in so I was paying attention)

FF6: The best RPG ever made by far.
Oh, the water
Oh, the water
Oh, the water
Hope it don't rain all day
... And it stoned me to my soul

I'm really quite curious where this was taken. "An Ironforge basement" isn't really a helpful indication. Coords or directions please?
javier_villafane Jun 9th 2009 2:32PM
Wow... I'm impressed by the fact that actually someone remembers how awesome was FF3 (US SNES). It was and still is my favorite RPG. In Zozo everyone lies, that's the truth... BTW what time is it?
If you remember that... let sing "Ohhh my hero...." (back to the Opera house)
Cadychan Jun 9th 2009 3:06PM
YES. Yes yes yes THANK YOU! That really brightened up my morning. XD There's a reason I hardly ever used status spells (Bio had it's moments, so did Demi, but meh). Also, thanks for reminding me of Zozo...ha ha. XD I both loved and hated that place. :>
MusedMoose Jun 9th 2009 8:05PM
Just adding to the FF6 love. Seriously. Best Final Fantasy EVER. Kefka's the kind of villain you can be proud to fight and beat, rather than some pretty-boy with a sword that should be named "The Compensator."
*grin*

Jeanluc, I took this picture in the basement of the building next door to the Ironforge Visitor's Center =)
