Brewfest mount probably easier this year
Bornakk has just announced that "there is quite a possibility that a change is in the works" for how the mount is acquired, and that "it will most likely be easier to get." A return to a token-based system, perhaps? Just a higher drop rate? A reward for the meta-achievement? I don't know, but we'll be sure to report as soon as we find out.
The token based system might be unlikely, actually, since earlier in the thread he said "I doubt we will make them purchasable with tokens, if we want to make changes to this we will likely go a different route" (comma splice!). How do you think they're going to make the mount easier?

Sure hope so.
I never did actually get the one from the last Brewfest, so making it easier allows us lazier players to get it.
Although maybe they should keep it the way it is, so not everyone will have it.

who knows? They may make like the Bat that drop for wotlk event. Like if the mount drops everyone in the group can loot it.

That'd be a good one. And if players complained about a loss of rarity, there are plenty of other hard-to-get mounts they can try to ascertain.

I wanted that on my mage last year, I ran direbrew 5x a day and saw it drop 2x the entire festival. I lost both rolls on it.
And it's not that I want the mount, I just want to complete the meta achievement for the Brewmaster title, so I'd be fine if they just removed it as a requirement.

This is what I'm hoping, also that they increase the droprate some. Because towards the end of brewfest anything that missed the first week (happened to me last time, was on vacation) has a harder time finding groups because many of the people that want the mount have either given up or already gotten it after the first week.

its stupid in the first place to make a mount drop a requirement for the meta achievement. its ridiculous! remove the requirement and keep the drop the same. problem solved.

I think I agree with this the most, not just because I dread needing to get the mount based on RNG x2 (drop + roll), but also because I think it should remain rare like the HH mount.
I don't want to complain too much about the meta, because I was right up there with the biggest QQers about School of Hard Knocks and ended up getting it by 11am the first day of Children's Week, so I don't want to overestimate the difficulty on this.

But the SOHK battleground requirement was fundamentally flawed and worthy of QQ, that being said I got the achievement after about 3hrs of persistence, and I was lvl 74 at the time.

Am I missing something? When was this part of the meta achievement?
Federicko Jun 9th 2009 8:11PM
Thank goodness! But I don't understand how they're going to change it if it isn't upped the drop rate or making it token based... Hide them in randomly spawning beer steins that appearing around the festival? I hope not.
Pyornthe Jun 9th 2009 8:13PM
Yeah, but instead of running fast, you'll stumble around really, really slowly. :P

The token system was great, I have no idea why they removed it. It allowed everyone who really, really wanted the mount to be able to get it with enough work.
SamLowry Jun 10th 2009 1:07AM
Agreed. I wrote lots of posts on the WoW boards complaining about how they had shifted the mount from "anyone can get one" to "elites only".
At this point I'm just fed up with level-capped players who think the whole game should revolve around them, and Blizzard, which frequently agrees with them.

I got mine 2 years ago when I was about to ding lvl60. It was my first seasonal event since I started playing and I liked the idea of riding a ram instead of a fat kodo again so I buckled down and farmed the dailies, just because I liked the mount. Turned out the mount became quite rare, even though it was right there for anyone to take, because nobody cared enough to put some effort into it. Now it's an achievement and everyone is QQing about it. Achievements are weird stuff I tell you, they turn this game upside down sometimes. For most players now, in stead of being rewarded with an achievement after completing their goal, their goal is to complete an achievement.
Icepuck Jun 9th 2009 8:12PM
No tokens, it will mean they increase the drop rate, or associate the mount with some other quest/activity/achievement.
Maybe they give it to the person that collects the most tears from people QQing drunks at brewfest.
Every holiday achievement that has a remote chance of rarity or chance they have nerfed to the ground.
They already nerfed Brew of the Year, Hallowed Helm, Pumpkin Pet, Peddlefeet etc... they nerfed the requirements of the Meta-Holiday-Achievement so much I am personally concerned that they will turn around and nerf the Violet Proto-Drake to 280% cause "We did not intend to give such fast mounts to so many people"

I don't recall any changes being made to the Sinister Calling achievement which requires the Sinister Squashling. Where did you read that?
Icepuck Jun 9th 2009 9:43PM
Sinister Calling... due to QQing mid event, they didnt restrict the drop to the boss kill. They made the pet/helm have a good chance to drop from the trick or treat bags that you get each hour. Hell, my L1 bank alt has the achievement.
Amaxe Jun 9th 2009 10:21PM
Actually, the Squashling is the only thing I *don't* have for the Hallowed achievement, and I ran the HH every day until the event ended.
The only thing they changed was the one about having all the flimsy masks, which they removed.
Super Guest Man 9000 Jun 9th 2009 11:38PM
Same boat Axeman, same boat. 3 of my alts got the pet, and all I needed for the overall achievement was the pet for my main. No such luck. My drakes gonna be waiting on Halloween.

It wasn't every hour, but the once a day - you got the chance from the daily of saving the village from the HH.
