Going out on an in-game date
I thought this was a really cute idea: an in-game date, sharing some of the best locations and activities around Azeroth with someone you love (or just happen to be courting). There are lots of great ideas in that thread -- I agree that the Twin Colossals is one of the more scenic (and out of the way) vistas to visit, but there are plenty more to go to: The Grim Guzzler, a floating island in Nagrand, the Darkmoon Faire, inside the bio-domes in Netherstorm. Personally, I think the best date would be a picnic on the deck of the ship in Deadmines -- sure, you'd have to fight off ninjas every once in a while, but what is a date without a little ninja fighting, right? If you do head out on a date, make sure you bring some roses and a bottle of wine (depending on how well you expect the date to go). If you've really thought ahead, you can bring a Romantic Picnic Basket, or you can shell out for a regular Picnic Basket, but otherwise, it's probably just best to have a snack of Delicious Chocolate Cake (it's guaranteed to make your date Very Happy).
Like I said, cute. Spending the time together with friends is what the game is all about anyway, and there's nothing wrong with taking some time to experience the world and hang out with each other. And if that's a little too boring for your tastes, maybe you can have your date tag along with you to some 2v2 Arena matches afterwards. Nothing gets the romance going like a little bloodshed.

Mmmm, typos. Yay for typing fast and not bothering to proofread. That *should* have said:

The inn in Astanaar is really nice, nice private lake in back to boot.
Only problem is the persistent ganking of hoardies during non school hours.

GET IT GUISE? ALL HORDE CAHARCTERS R IN MIDLE SHCOOL
Alliance was the punchline of that joke first. If I may, "super-creative punchline reversal, bro".
Which age group, then, is it that voluntarily creates Gnomes and Night Elves, and then LOOKS at then for HOURS, right in the middle of their screen?
p.s. only twilite fans thnk varien iz c00l XD XD XD XD XD XD XD XD !!!!!!!!111!1 X XD XD OWN3D

Just a thought here, but...is it at all possible that his intended joke WAS directed at the Alliance? That this wasn't a reversal at all? In fact, referring to the ganking of Horde characters as a "problem" seems to support this theory. In otherwords, I believe the point he was trying to get across was: "When school is out, the little kids in the Alliance start ganking, because they are no longer at school."
Nice over-reaction, though.
(Personal aside: I'm Alliance but don't really think either faction has less idiots in it.)

This is what gives people who play mmo's a bad name.
Dating is indeed something that can't be replicated in game.
Even if it could why would you?
MusedMoose Jun 10th 2009 10:32PM
Why would you? Hmm, let me think...
Maybe you want to try something different. Maybe you need a date idea that you haven't done half a dozen times before. Maybe your significant other is too far away for you two to actually go on a date. Maybe you want a little something different from your WoW experience. Maybe you want an excuse to wear something that's not armor.
I'm just sayin'... if you can't think of reasons to do this, you haven't tried. *grin*
Also: in-game dating giving people who play MMOs a bad name? Riiiight. That's why you always see news features about people who play MMOs causing so much trouble in their lives because of in-game dating, and not because of them playing the games so much they neglect everything else in their lives. Oh, wait...

Ehh, i can see it'd be a little fun. I mean, if you're doing it as a substitute for the real thing for no real reason, it'd be weird. But if you're really dating, and just want to do something silly, or if you're temporarily unable to actually be together for whatever reason, it could be something fun to do.

My (now) husband and I actually met online through a site, but we could only see each other on weekends due to living several hours apart. I had just started playing Warcraft and asked him to join me. Neither of us are big phone talkers, so we spent most of our courtship running around Azeroth together. We used to sit and watch the sunset in Booty Bay after we were done leveling for the day. :) We eventually moved in together, but still play WoW to this day and will be celebrating our third anniversary this year.

Gratz!
Mullen Jun 10th 2009 7:45PM
If you watch the sunset, bring a picnic basket, a gift and a bottle of wine, how do you make your move to "second base"?
Sihylm Jun 10th 2009 7:47PM
clever positioning.
Ithiliel Jun 10th 2009 7:55PM
