You're right-clearing the raids isn't as important as clearing it 5 minutes faster because of gear, and because of playing in a spec that I loathe.
Not everyone is as lifeless and joyless as yourself. During BC we worked our way up to BT (pre patch 3 nerfs) without your silly minmaxing. So long as we were making progress, great. I had a hunter who set foot in SSC as his first raid, and it didn't matter to anyone because we got the job done (and I conveniently scored some loot to help out more next time) and enjoyed ourselves.
You remind me of UT tournaments where I'd notice people with all of their graphics settings put down to the very bottom for those extra 2 or 3 fps and hated how it looked-but oh they had to prove "something" (I can't imagine what you think you're proving by obsessing over video game scoreboards).
