The Spreading Taint plans pride parade on Proudmoore

As we talked about in our 15 Minutes interview with them, these folks are very social and a lot of fun -- while their roots are in the GLBT community, they're interested in including people from all backgrounds, and obviously this event is open to everyone who wants to have a good time in-game (though they are strictly disallowing PvP -- if you want to fight, go elsewhere). The event kicks off next Saturday, June 20th, at noon server time over on Proudmoore. The parade itself starts at Camp Taurajo in the Barrens, but we're sure no matter where you are on the server, you'll probably hear about them -- just follow the wackiness.

@ Yeah. You clearly haven't noticed this, but ALL parades are straight parades (except the gay pride ones, of course).
Wyred Jun 12th 2009 1:28PM
Read the article, this is the GLBT guild. Sigh, trolls just don't make the effort anymore.
Cort Jun 12th 2009 4:06PM
@Ahrla - You're intolerant of yourself then? How do you LIVE with yourself? ;)
Solex Jun 12th 2009 11:04AM
This is pretty rad, but correct me if I'm wrong wasn't their a GLBT guild a few years back that Blizzard deleted because of some weird thing about them being inclusive or something? I don't know but I hope they don't decide to wreck these guys parade.... LITERALLY HAHA!
snowleopard233 Jun 12th 2009 11:16AM
Yeah it was in the EU back in 2005 or something. Some moderators said the GLBT guild needed to break up because the guild’s existence was making other players uncomfortable even though they weren’t even bothering anyone. The GLBT guild challenged it and Blizz eventually apologized saying the moderators were out of line.

I'm most impressed by one thing. Unlike the Funeral on Illidan, and Gay Wedding on Destromath, or the PETA protest on Whisperwind, these guys were smart enough to stage their event on a PvE server and in uncontested territory. There's actually a good chance that this will go off without a whole lot of rogues teabagging 100 corpses by the end.

Thanks for the publicity fellas :)
Stephen Jun 12th 2009 2:46PM
I'm very happy something political like this is finally happening on some else's server and not Whisperwind again.
impurezero Jun 12th 2009 11:05AM
Sweet. If more guilds created their own in-game events, then the world of Azeroth would be a much cooler place. Why wait for world events when you can just make you own?
impurezero Jun 12th 2009 11:06AM
Don't worry...I'm pretty sure the double entendre is intended there. I've personally always wanted to see a horde guild called "Taint of the Scourge."
Everytime an NPC talks about taint, I can't help but giggle.

This was directed at Mep, by the way. The reply button is wonky today.
Cort Jun 12th 2009 11:14AM
define hateful. Is it OK to post a disagreement or commentary, or will that be labeled hateful?
Cort Jun 12th 2009 11:18AM
(i'm not planning on posting any kind of disagreement, freedom of expression is awesome... just curious how far we're going to curtail dissenter's freedom of expression.)
Zie Jun 12th 2009 11:19AM
If one has to ask that question, its probably best not to post that particular thought.
impurezero Jun 12th 2009 11:19AM
If your disagreement is over the content of the event itself, I'm sure you'll be fine. If your disagreement hinges strictly on the people throwing the event, then it's almost certainly hateful.

Anything that we feel is done in poor taste and is outsides the bounds of what a normal person would consider normal and respectful discourse on the given subject.
Mister EDgAr Jun 12th 2009 1:05PM
@Adam Holisky
Please define "normal" person? and no, I'm not really looking forward to your answer, your reply kinda made me feel sad!

@Jon Do
As a Christian, I certainly hope you didn't eat meat today.
As a Christian, I certainly hope you've sold your daughter into slavery by now. (Exodus 21:7)
As a Christian, I certainly hope you've never eaten shellfish. (Lev. 11:10)
etc. etc. etc.
The books in the Bible that condemn Homosexuality are the same books that say those things above.
Point: If you're going to live by the "Word of God" - don't pick and
choose what words you follow.
God Bless You.

@ Jon Do (Not really directed at you personally, just a random rant I've had stored up over this)
I'm Christian myself, but any of "us" ripping LBGT's aren't right at all. IIRC The price of Sin is death, it does not specify one from another.
Unless, somehow, all of my fellow Christians suddenly became perfect, I'm pretty sure that they shouldn't be harping on them and instead worry about their own sins.
“Do not judge so that you will not be judged. “For in the way you judge, you will be judged; and by your standard of measure, it will be measured to you. “Why do you look at the speck that is in your brother’s eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye? “Or how can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ and behold, the log is in your own eye? “You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother’s eye.
I come across "Christians" all the time who try to denounce things like the LGBT and act like its worse than any other sin (which we all do, all the time). We're also saved in exactly the same way. So I don't see why everyone makes a big deal or anyone (Christian or not) discriminates against LGBT. At least the LGBT promotes love (it's stated in the Bible "God is Love"), most of the time protesters do nothing but preach hate.
