Around Azeroth: The great race
You know you've been waiting too long for new content when you start organizing events like this one. "It's been a long-standing tradition of my guild to run level 1 naked gnome/dwarf races, or as we call them, "nakkid" races," writes Baddad of <Survivors of the Storm> on Madoran. "The goal is to run from Dun Morogh into Ironforge, through the Deeprun Tram (players can take the tram and it's often VERY funny to watch someone just barely miss the tram and fall into the pit) and then through the gates of Stormwind." That's Baddad refereeing in the middle with his impartial Felguard advisor. He adds that in this particular race, first place went to Nenet, with Tiberiusll as runner-up and Sycosimp taking the bronze.
Do you have any unusual, beautiful or interesting World of Warcraft images that are just collecting dust in your screenshots folder? We'd love to see them on Around Azeroth! Sharing your screenshot is as simple as e-mailing aroundazeroth@gmail.com with a copy of your shot and a brief explanation of the scene. You could be featured here next!
Remember to include your player name, server and/or guild if you want it mentioned. Please include the word "Azeroth" in your post so it does not get swept into the spam bin. We strongly prefer full screen shots without the UI showing -- use alt-Z to remove it. Please, no more battleground scoreboards, gold seller ads, or pictures of the Ninja Turtles in Dalaran.

Ah, ye oldé gnome races!
We had one once, it was a bit longer though, Dun Morogh - SW the hard way - Tram back, so a few just have up.
Anyway, here are some pics:

Maybe I should submit a picture to Around Azeroth some day, it's a pretty fun post. :)

When I as in Aggromasters on Madoran we did that all the way to Booty Bay. I came in second to my ex husband, which sucked but it was funny as hell. Even funnier is to get the gnomes drunk and run it.

BRK's Gnaked Gnome Races were better. All the way to Booty Bay! Plus they had hundreds of people not just a handful of people.

Fun is fun, no matter how many people there are.

No matter how much I scrub my eyes, they will never be clean.
Gnome races are fun though.

Just to Stormwind's Gates? Laaaame.
Real Nekkid Noam races make you run through harsh environments (like back in... November 2006 I think it was? (wow I've played this game too long) we did a nekkid noam race to Menethil Harbor and got murdered by the Orcs and Crocs on our way there x_x ).

I Just posted on the Kael'Thas froums a proposition for a truly EPIC scale race. Lvl 1 BE's from the BE Start zone...to BB. the LONG way. Plus I feel these kind of events work out better on PvE realms...no massive gankage traps by the opposing faction.

We used to do this as a guild about once every two or three weeks (we called them "bunny runs") - back in vanilla, the reward was 20g, which seemed like a fortune. When we got to BC, we upped it to 100g - winner take all in both cases. Everyone started with a human, nekkid, and ran in a circle from SW gates through lakeshire, duskwood, westfall, and back to the inn in goldshire. It was fantastic - sometimes it would take an hour for everyone to finish with all the dying.
We did a couple of uber-long runs late in BC - starting in Dun Morogh and running to Undercity - 1000g prize. I came in second in the first run, and I distinctly remember that my time was close to an hour and a half.
Good times....

Heh, I recall a guild run that was utterly insane. We all started out as flagged lvl 1 forsaken, popped into UC for the FP before running all the way through WPL/EPL to Light's Hope, everything killing us on the way. From there we took a windrider back, and jumped on the zeppelin to TB. From there we had to run all the way to Ratchet, getting ganked repeatedly by raptors and the alliance patrol, take the boat to Booty Bay, and finally trek all the way up into the Wetlands to Grim Batol, which being a combination of higher level areas and Alliance controlled zones, meant yet even more repeated deaths.

Why such a short race?
Hallow's End 2006: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j8695_UEEc8
Spring 2007: http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-849486496298159929
We have some other vids out there too, but the demons of YouTube have devoured them with all their creepy copyright infringement babble. I'm currently working on getting with all of our past videographers from the guild to get us the originals so we can host them on SC's site. We really had some epic vids.
Oh, and for other nutjobs (like me) out there who enjoy running these races, download this little gem of an addon that I maintain called "Rat Race Tracker". If you do races of almost any reasonable length, this thing will be your best friend:

This reminds me of "The Running of the Gnomes". A guild on the Durotan server set it up 3 years ago.
Step 1: Create a level 1 gnome.
Step 2: Get to the gates of Orgrimmar without going above level 2.
Step 3: Be the first to die on Thrall's throne.
I believe it was 100G for the winner + 20G for the most creative name. It took a good 45 minutes for someone to actually make it. I've never seen a more glorious slaughter.
