Breakfast Topic: What do you think of region-specific pets?

European gamers are not happy bunnies. Blizzard implemented rolling restarts to remove whatever bug had allowed gamers to get themselves a Battle Bot pet. Yes, they stood before European WoW players and said: 'No you shall not have a Bot' leaving them feeling unloved and bereft. It does kind of make sense though given Mountain Dew is almost unheard of in Europe.
This is that first time that I can recall when Blizzard have made a non-combat pet region-exclusive. However with the promise of a Jade Green Panda (most likely a gift to compensate all the millions of Chinese players who have been without WoW for weeks during the transition from The9 to NetEase) I don't think it will be the last.
So, dear readers, what do you feel about region-specific pets? Do you think they're a great idea to reward gamers in a specific region? Not got a Battle Bot and a feeling a little neglected? Do you think Blizzard should just give every players the ability to get a pet rather than make it region/account specific?

If you're able to sell them via a Neutral AH, then it's fine.

Oh, we had Mountain Dew in the UK once. Wonderful days. Every trip to the fish and chip shop resulted in a bag of ultra-salty chips, some free prawn crackers and a can of Mountain Dew. Wonderful days.
Then they took away the Dew. Life's not been the same since. :'(

I did love Mountain Dew, i don't know why they took it away it was selling very well around here.
Now we fight to keep Monster on our shelves too!

I don't know about other countries, but in Poland MD can be easily found in various shops.

Chin up mate, I hear it's pretty difficult to find a fish and chip shop at all in the US, so perhaps we're not that hard done to after all :P

Then this pet would've been easy and costless advertising*, costless because they already paid Blizz to implement the pet on both US and EU clients (they even localized the item http://de.wowhead.com/?item=46767 and spell!)
But no, dumb chief of promotions decides to be dumb.
* imagine this:
A: hey, where'd you get that pet? (I get that a lot when sporting rare pets)
B: Oh, they gave that out during the Mtn Dew promotion.
A: Mtn Dew? Oh, I heard about that, new drink, eh? Maybe I'll try it.

I couldn't care less about the battle-bot, but I can see why pet collectors would be anrgy about it.

Never once in my 18 years of living in Devon have I ever seen mountain dew... must be a SOUTH kinda thing >.>
But no, whilst I'm not bothered about this special promotion, because that is what it is, it seems strange to make other region-specific pets. We all play the same game, and whilst it is probably not a big issue to many gamers, I'm sure some must feel disheartened about a European getting a pet they would adore, or the other way around of course
