Solo Hunters can also get phat lootz
I have to confess something. I'm a sucker for hearing stories about someone playing their Hunter in offbeat ways. What do I mean? Well, take for example that fabled Hunter Tank Gweryc.
Last week I got a great tip from Darth Solo over at WoW Alone about another offbeat Hunter idea. Seems Darth is a fan of solo play. At first I thought as you that this probably isn't completely original. We Hunters tend to just run with our pets anyways. But something kept nagging me to go check out WoW Alone and see just what Darth was doing.
Turns out he's put a lot of thought into how to get the most out of your World of Warcraft experience without having to worry about the drama associated with PUGs or even some guilds.
Of course I would be the first to admit that this kind of play style isn't for me. But if you want to find ways of enjoying your Hunter, getting loot all the while avoiding the drama associated with PUGs. Go check out his Hunter Solo Guides for gear, glyphs, and suggested specs for the Solo Hunter.

It might
be a good
site but
everything
is in a
tight
column
and is
distracting
to read.

It's just as wide as WoWInsider for me. Perhaps you have some scriptblocker or something that's misbehaving? I know the effect you're speaking of, and I definitely am not experiencing it on this guys blog.
kia Jun 16th 2009 3:06AM
Agreed Janaa, it looks normal to me too.
elfennau Jun 16th 2009 11:00AM
Looks normal to me. I'd say it's not the site, but something on your end.

Darth Solo from wowalone here...
First of all, thanks guys at wow.com for highlighting my articles. I hope they prove helpful to other WoW "hermits".
@Jack Spicer unfortunately that's the default Blogspot layout. I do realize it's annoying and I've been meaning to change it but somehow never got around to it. Thanks for the heads up and I'll try to get down to making it more accessible as soon as I can.

I've been really looking for something exactly like that for my lone hunter. I spend a lot of time in groups on my healer and my tank, but I am unwilling to take part in the inevitable dps meter race. Thank you for your great articles, and thanks to Eddie for drawing my attention to them.
P.S.: I'd put that last point into Improved Aspect of the Hawk. 3% haste is nice to have.

Well thank you for this information. It'll be useful for me because while I love raiding, I also spend a whole lot of time alone, as much of my play time is in the mornings when my guildmates are at work or sleeping.(different work hours..)

For those who are interested, I wrote an article in February of this year describing soloing instances.
http://doctorsofphilosophy.blogspot.com/2009/02/guide-to-soloing-instances-with-hunter.html
With the gear/glyph guide, this should get you well on your way.
In my bad gear i was doing mid 60s instances. I imagine now I could do something like Nexus or Steamvents (non heroic). I'd be interested to see just how far we can push.
Rugus Jun 16th 2009 3:36AM
You should update it in some aspects, for example Gorilla is not the best pet anymore for grinding old instances... go with a bear instead :)

Its a good site and I will be taking some of the ideas and using it on my hunter....
However I'm kinda uncomfortable with the adds all over the site for a company that you pay $1,ooo's too so that they can log onto your 80 and run Ulduar for you to get epic loot for you. That is against Blizzards ToS. And a power leveling add down the bottom of the page as well. I know you want adds so that you can try to get some revenue for the time you put into your blog, but it makes your blogg look like trash when you advertise trash.
Maxilimus Jun 15th 2009 11:06PM
Dont be so harsh on the ads, even blizzard had gold farming ads on their site a while back
Kendall213 Jun 15th 2009 11:11PM
But those adds were put there by accident and were quickly removed.
Kendall213 Jun 15th 2009 11:13PM
Sorry Ads* I'm kinda tired.
Balthezor Jun 16th 2009 5:45AM
Thought you were talking about Ulduar,
ZING!
Athralsatar Jun 16th 2009 10:03AM
Most small blogs don't sell ad space, they use things like google to generate ads. Kick google and tell them to stop selling adspace to gold sellers.
...Let me know how that goes?
Gaurisk Jun 15th 2009 11:28PM
In lieu of a regular WoW.com column on the topic, this site looks like a gold mine.
Bookmarked! And thanks for the heads up.

Darth Solo from wowalone here... again... (for some reason I can't edit my profile to change my display name)
About the ads, believe me I don't like gold buying/selling either. If you read the blog you'll understand why - I can make enough gold just by enjoying the game. Those ads are generated by Google Adsense and you can imagine there are a lot of "wow" and "gold" keywords in my articles. I try to blacklist those sites regularly as I see them but others keep popping up.
Oh and I've just done a quick edit to the layout and it's wider now.

Try Engadget or Joystiq.com (AOL blogs)
I too have the same problem, for some reason WOW.com won't let me enter in my log in info. So i have to drop a quick post on the aforementioned sites, click my name and then edit profile.
Kendall213 Jun 16th 2009 10:05AM
No problem man, I was just saying that they make your site look a little sketchy with ads like that all over the place. It is a good blog and I'll certainly be stopping by from time to time.
Agerath Jun 15th 2009 11:43PM
I enjoy reading Darth Solo's exploits, but this post just makes it look like you're trying to bury the Furry article in the archives.
