Chest heirlooms with 10% XP bonus coming in Patch 3.2
Yay for new heirlooms! Earlier this afternoon, Blizz bestowed upon us the information that in patch 3.2, there would be some heirlooms available for purchase by those who had gained their Crusader titles. There was some hoping in the comments section for an XP boosting belt and/or chest, and your prayers have been answered.
Yes, Zarhym has revealed that you will be able to get chest piece heirlooms in patch 3.2, and that they will give a 10% XP boost that does stack with the boost from the shoulders. So that means, recruit a friend trickery aside, the well-appointed alt can get 10% from shoulders, 10% from chest, and another 100% from rest (at times), and they all stack.
This brings the list of heirloom-able slots to: main/off/two-handed weapons, shields, ranged weapon, trinkets, shoulders, and chest. And there might be more to come in patch 3.2 that we haven't heard about yet. My alts are excited already.
Patch 3.2 will bring about a new 5, 10, and 25 man instance to WoW, and usher in a new 40-man battleground called the Isle of Conquest. WoW.com will have you covered every step of the way, from extensive PTR coverage through the official live release. Check out WoW.com's Guide to Patch 3.2 for all the latest!

very cool, new heirloom chest, plus the mount changes is making me hold off on lvling my priest until this comes out, damn you blizz! :D

I'm thinking about leveling up another hunter and using these heirlooms, but I'm hesitant to really do anything about it until 3.2 comes out - I guess the other changes suggest that crusader is worth getting - my pally is close to it, and the pally only mount sounds sweet!
Agerath Jun 16th 2009 11:10PM
What? Pally only mount?
Do tell.
Richard Jun 16th 2009 10:12PM
What are they going to cost though? Please, please make it Champions Seals. I'm sick of collecting SKS and EoH.

So weird they decide to make it easier on alts of those that mainly focus on playing one character and out of reach for most altoholics that would benifit from it the most. What altoholic would be doing the exact same boring quests day in day out when they can play an alt?
I am all for giving nice or even awesome rewards to those that work for it in endgame, but why make heirlooms part of that? Heirlooms are the holy grail for altoholics, epic gear with great stats would be much more fitting for those that grind at max lvl, or anything not related to leveling for that matter.
Ah well, perhaps I am just annoyed because I dislike the tournament junk they added and decided shortly after the introduction that it wasn't for me.
This heirloom chest I was hoping they would add is now out of my reach because I play with one important rule in mind: if it ain't fun, I ain't doing it, it's a game after all.

That's a good point; I was much less likely to be doing dailies than leveling alts.
BTW, if they had intended the AT to be fun, they would not have it take place on vehicles.
Lasher Jun 17th 2009 2:04AM
They HAD to add something for the people that went through all of the tournament. Although I usually feel satisfied with small stuff ( like the title ), I don't like it if they made everything in the game so optional, that it would almost be pointless to do.
And please don't start with the vehicle hate >.>

Actually I think there's a degree of sense to this. The XP-enhancing Heirlooms aren't really for Altaholics - they're for people who want to play at endgame, and who want to get what alts they *do* have to 80 as fast as possible.
Anybody who would rather play an alt than grind for Emblems/Rep/Gold in endgame, almost by definition, does not need tools to get their alts to endgame faster. If they wanted to be playing at 80, they'd be playing their 80.
Plus since the XP-enhancing items are all armour, you need multiple sets for all your different alts anyway (unless you're an altaholic whose characters only wear one armour type, which seems unlikely). It's a way to get endgame players to level alts, far more than a way of getting altaholics to endgame.

I'd also like to see permanent Rested Bonus for lower levels if you have a level 80 (or maybe any higher level) character on the same account (or same realm?). I can zip through two or three levels in a couple of hours now, and then I'm out of it again and I feel like I'm wasting kills. Its utility is frequently insufficient.
Croe Jun 16th 2009 11:25PM
I think rested bonus is good for what it is designed to do. It rewards the player for actually not playing the game. I don't feel it's a good move to make it permanent.
G Jun 17th 2009 1:38AM
I'll grant you that, but it was with the intent that it boost the leveling speed of those who weren't able to play as much. On the flip side, it penalizes those who would like to. If we are talking about accelerating level gain, why would we also have a mechanism to slow it?
Suzaku Jun 17th 2009 4:15AM
Giving someone a perk for doing something isn't the same as penalizing someone for not doing it. Penalizing would be if they introduced a tired state that reduced EXP gains by 50% for playing too much.
G Jun 17th 2009 4:23AM
Technically, sure. But six of one is a half dozen of the other. It has the same result.
Sean Jun 16th 2009 11:03PM
One other bonus for Heirlooms....pick up a couple for your 80 and keep them in the bank. When the next Expansion comes out, a quick 20% XP boost as you level to 90!
Telanis Jun 16th 2009 11:14PM
Thus far, the heirloom items are 1-80 only. I doubt that they will change that next expansion.
SINisterWyvern Jun 17th 2009 7:44AM
Why do you doubt they would change that? They're only 1-80 now because that's all that exists. The point of them is for alts so why would they not figure you wanted to level alts to 90?
Sopt Jun 17th 2009 8:33AM
They wont be avaible to 90. Why would they? New expansion comes out they dont want you to "rush thro content" aka want you to play as long as possible. Its only good business and you know it.
And for SINisterWyvern: Good thinking but..no. Obviously you will get new heirlooms that are 1-90 or 80-90 that you can only get using 90 level currency.
Retropally Jun 17th 2009 4:09AM
Honestly, why not just pay £10 get a recruit a friend account...level at 3 times the speed on quests/mobs and be done with it :P
You'll save yourself the time, plus you can grant extra levels to a character...so that lv30 alt you left behind too can get upto 60 straight away.
DanH Jun 17th 2009 6:05AM
Only if you multibox.
You only get the XP bonuses for playing together.

Quite a lot of people can't use RAF due to country restrictions.
