Methinks you missed this little bit:

"Given that the availability of epic gems raises the value of the Blacksmithing perk (extra sockets), other professions are having their perks buffed. Details after the cut."

As mentioned in the post, with Epic gems Blacksmiths will be able to put better gems in all their BS only sockets.

the fact that you have extra sockets for the epic gems to slot into is the reason the other proffesions are being buffed. learn to read please
