New details on the Argent Tournament update in Patch 3.2
Patch 3.2 is currently in development, and not yet on the PTRs. We've been told that it will focus on expanding the Argent Tournament that was introduced in patch 3.1, and we've also learned that it will feature new Druid form art and a new battleground, Isle of Conquest.
Today Blizzard posted a preview of some of the Argent Tournament updates, and it looks pretty cool. There are going to be two new Tourney-related quest hubs in Icecrown: a Cult of the Damned camp overlooking the Tourney, and a Vrykul outpost on an island to the north. The Black Knight will also be returning; I guess it was only a flesh wound after all.
There are also going to be new dailies and new rewards for players exalted with the Silver Covenant/Sunreavers, as appropriate. Silver Covenant and Sunreaver tabards, their ground and flying mounts, and a Shimmering Wyrmling pet are all mentioned.
Furthermore, those who have earned the Crusader title will get some more dailies, and some exciting rewards, including new heirlooms (!), a banner, a tabard that ports you to the tourney, a squire with a mount, and a Paladin-only charger mount.
New heirlooms, you say? Nice, but I wish they weren't at the end of five tedious rep grinds. Oh well, time to get to work, I suppose.
Update: Blizz have edited the page to say the new squire will cost 150 Champion Seals to upgrade, will be summonable for 3 minutes every 8 hours, and will perform one of thee services: mail, bank, or vendor.
Patch 3.2 will bring about a new 5, 10, and 25 man instance to WoW, and usher in a new 40-man battleground called the Isle of Conquest. WoW.com will have you covered every step of the way, from extensive PTR coverage through the official live release. Sounds like a lot of fun. :) I can't wait.

A mobile bank?! Kickass!
Amaxe Jun 17th 2009 1:54AM
Mobile bank? This feels like making engineers even less feasible. Maybe not, but I don't like this.

I'm glad they ARE at the end of the rep grinds. Having got my Crusader title I kind of feel like I deserve more rewards for it.
Sayis Jun 16th 2009 3:44PM
Sounds cool to me. I'll have Crusader long before this patch hits, so all the new content sounds pretty tight.

Wait....the badass, Silver Covenant Hippogryph is alliance only?
*headdesk*
Mattimus Jun 16th 2009 2:43PM
Well, it was called the Silver Covenant Hippogryph. As far as badass, though, I don't think that's exactly a qualifying description.
Heilig Jun 16th 2009 4:19PM
LOL who cares about the Hippogryph? The reward for one of the most pain in the ass achievements (Mountain o' Mounts) is going to be for sale from the Sunreavers. That makes all that work people have put in so worthwhile, huh?
Kylenne Jun 16th 2009 9:30PM
Because Sunreavers would totally be flying Silver Covenant hippogryphs?
Elry Jun 17th 2009 10:45AM
@Heilig
We can only hope they upgrade the 100 mounts achievement dragonhawk to be an armored one or something.
Or maybe a Bonehawk! Similar to the bone dragons/frostwyrms! :D

The first rep grind isn't bad, methinks. It's that the next four rep grinds are...the...exact...same...thing. That's the problem.
I hope they continue to bolster Argent Tourney solo content - I don't really need another cookie-cutter five-man.

Pretty sad that the Alliance get such a sick mount in the Silver Covenant Hippogryph, and the Horde just has a lame Dragonhawk.
jfofla Jun 16th 2009 2:48PM
As a Horde, I feel "soiled" when I fly on my Hippo. It feels too "Alliance".
As a BE, a Dragonhawk is our natural mount.
Vegatork Jun 16th 2009 2:38PM
My only complaint is that the Horde gets to work hard for its 100 mount unique dragonhawk....only to see one given as an Argent reward...sigh. I'm at 95/100 mounts now, but getting that 100th won't be as special if there's an Argent dragonhawk flying around also.
Looking forward to that tabard that ports you...at least some good news.
Abbadon Jun 16th 2009 4:00PM
I agree... I'm at 96 and was preparing to buy the 8k Hodir mount and have a mechano-hog made, but if everyone can get a dragonhawk via the tournament, that's a big slap in the face and cuts down on the desire to have one quite a bit. It's bad enough that the 100 mount reward is only 280% speed to begin with... Regardless, I'll be replacing whatever flyer I have with the Violet Proto Drake in October! I can't wait to be back at 310%. (I miss my riding crop from lv 70.)
RogueJedi86 Jun 16th 2009 6:28PM
Well anyone can get a hippogryph from the Cenarion Expedition, so how do you think that makes us Alliance feel? Horde isn't the only ones who have a unique mount that the other side can get a similar version of via other means.
Caelin Jun 16th 2009 2:38PM
PALADIN ONLY CHARGER MOUNT!!! YESYESYESYESYES!!!
Darias.Perenolde Jun 16th 2009 2:50PM
^^ This.
Please tell me this is my long-awaited war-pegasus for Paladins! WOOT!
Mattimus Jun 16th 2009 2:58PM
This is likely the Argent Charger that we see all the Argent Crusaders riding around on.
Robert M Jun 16th 2009 5:08PM
Though this news makes my dorf pally one happy little fat girl, I feel somewhat cheated that the locks have yet to call forth a demonic mount to take to the skies.
