The Queue: All your fault

Welcome back to The Queue, WoW.com's daily Q&A column where the WoW Insider team answers your questions about the World of Warcraft. Alex Ziebart will be your host today.
You know, I was getting bored of that whole musical intro thing, but having it around certainly made these preambles easier to write. What do you write here every day about a daily Q&A column? Guess what, guys! We're A'ing more Qs! Shock! Awe!
So you've broken me. Congratulations. I am now a hollow husk of a man that can do nothing but uphold the status quo. I hope you're proud of yourselves. Here it goes again.

WootZoot asked...
"Any word on if Blizzard is working on a new novel or RPG book?"
No word on any RPG books. I kind of have my doubts that we'll see one during WoW's lifetime, but I have nothing to back that up. It's just a feeling.
Novels? The next big one is going to be a book focused on Malfurion (probably titled Stormrage), likely timed for the next expansion like Arthas was for Wrath of the Lich King. It's being written by Richard Knaak, and if you've been reading this blog for a long time, you probably already know my thoughts on that.
If you're into comics and manga, they're also working on the Thassarian manga. Beyond those, I don't think we've heard of anything else that's on the horizon.
Robert M asked...
"What is the easiest way to contact a WoW.com blogger? Sometimes the post has some interesting information and sometimes it needs to be expounded upon, but when you try and use the contact interface, you only get the general WoW.com and not the option of choosing a writer. Is there a way to pose a Shaman question to Rossi or a Druid question to Robert outside of comments? The Queue has been one of my favorite sections of WoW.com, and it would be awesome if at the end of a class piece, the bloggers could try and answer or direct a player on where to find the answer for a question that is more reader directed."
Some of our writers are more willing to throw their email addresses out there than others, so the best way to contact who you're looking for is to use that contact form. Every single one of us reads those letters, so if you're aiming something at Rossi or Robert, just state clearly that you're directing your message at them.
Of course, we probably won't respond to someone being a troll or a person asking something like, "how u mine 4 titan grip." If you have a good question, though? You'll probably get a response.
Radioted asked...
"The reason we're told we have to go stop Algalon the Observer is because he's going to send a signal off to the Titans that Azeroth needs to be re-formatted- essentially disintegrated and rebuilt on the atomic level. If this was a power the Titans possessed, why didn't they do that after they first defeated the Old Gods? The only reason I can think of is that such a maneuver wouldn't actually destroy the Old Gods, but then again, if it didn't, what would be the point?"
The Titans don't consider Azeroth a lost cause quite yet. Yeah, it has some baddies under the surface, but they've locked them up and if those things stay locked up, Azeroth will be fine and dandy like wine and candy. That's assuming those things actually do stay locked up, though. Algalon is there to send word home if something to the contrary happens. The Titans' security measures have been compromised, one of the Keepers has been killed. Now it's Algalon's job to say, "Hey, things aren't going as well as we hoped. It's time for a purge."
Eri asked...
"About the flying mounts speed increase from 60%, are they planning on doing the same with flying carpets?"
The carpets are flying mounts, so... yes.
Shadowdasher asked...
"I was doing Argent Tournament dailies the other day and whilst jousting I got an emote that said "Eranikus emerges from the nightmare, tranquility sets over Moonglade". I've seen this emote happen multiple times and all of them have been at random moments. Whats up? Is this Blizz teasing us about the Emerald Dream? A special Druid only random emote? Has the ice stone melted again?!"
This is a realm-wide emote that's a part of a very old quest chain. Many people still run it just for the sake of seeing it, because it's a pretty incredible chain. Back at level 60, it took not only guild effort to complete, but server effort. Blizzard just doesn't make 'em like that anymore. Go check out the Scepter of the Shifting Sands quest chain and be awed.

i've taken an extended break from wow and am planning to come back and level some alts when 3.2 drops, anyone have an ETA on it??
Cuetip Jun 16th 2009 1:18PM
from what i've heard it seems 3.2 will drop mid-summer, it would be a pretty nice time because the initial excitement of summer break will be over and a lot of people will be back home to play some WoW, and then we can probably see Icecrown Citadel by the end of the year
doit Jun 16th 2009 1:21PM
beautiful thanks cuetip sounds good
Athinah Jun 16th 2009 1:38PM
I hope its mid summer, I'm going to explod if i don't get my new druid skins soon >
Naix Jun 16th 2009 2:55PM
Here is a tip.
If you have a warlock re-roll.
if you have a paladin keep on truckin
If you have a shaman well look out because the are the OP class this time around.
Glaras Jun 16th 2009 3:33PM
Shaman are the OP class for 3.2? Hello? What are you smoking?? Whatever it is, pass it around!
GC and the rest of the Shaman Q&A posted withing the last week don't support your comment, tho as a shaman, I wish it did. I'd love to know that I was getting back *some* of the old glory, instead of being reduced as we have been to nothing more than a supporting role, no matter what spec we roll.
vazhkatsi Jun 16th 2009 4:12PM
please do reroll if you're a lock. i get tired of seeing so many new warlocks rolling aroing in a 41/30 build, and sucking at it. i swear, every new lock does it now.
let those of us who actually played our locks show you how its done, instead of jumping back on the bandwagon the minute a reasonable spam spec reappears.

Reading that stuff about algalon makes me really wish I raided... oh well.
richard.ashton Jun 16th 2009 1:11PM
lol at the flying carpet question
Aryn Jun 16th 2009 1:11PM
Here's a random thought.. I wonder if they're going to actually put forth something of a continuation lore/story wise to the effect of people doing something to stop the whole reorigination 'n all.. I mean, really. The way this is presented, it casts doubt (I think) to how worse of a threat the ol' Lich King is.
Just random thoughts.
Outlier Jun 16th 2009 1:23PM
The way I see it is Algalon is a observer, not a fighter. We have trouble beating him but eventually can because he was never meant to fight minus some security protocols. Come to think of it, none of Ulduar is really meant as a army, its more of a museum/sanctuary/prison that all goes horribly wrong due to Yogg-Saron. The true threat the Lich King presents is that he wants to either make you a Lich member of his armies OR Lich-slap you to death for resisting. If all this isn't as clear as I've meant, here is a breakdown that is as simple as possible;
Ulduar= Battle due to Yogg-Saron, no definitive intent in it's existence to world domintaion. (Algalon is just a alt+F4 for the world)
Icecrown Citadel= Defeating a army and leader who is constantly expanding their influence and borders with an attempt to dominate the planet.

The Fire Festival starts soon. Any word on if there will be changes this year? Is Ahune changing to level 80?
Eric Jun 16th 2009 1:37PM
I'll bet money if he wasn't already made 80 he will be by the time we can summon him to find out, I just hope he isn't as hard as in BC, or I'm not as bad, or some mix of the 2. Especially with the new achievement system they don't want people being able to solo all of the world events.
Angus Jun 16th 2009 1:49PM
Remember the global emote where the ice shard melted?
Yea, guess which event that is. ;)
There is a change, it should be interesting.
Balius Jun 17th 2009 11:05AM
Yeah, I never was able to kill Ahune. I could never find a tank/healer who could manage it without dying.
On my druid I was able to swap to bear form to tank a little while longer, but without a healer it's pretty much a lost cause.

Actually there was an RPG produced by the ArtHaus Sword and Sorcery division by White Wolf. The first edition came out as WarCraft RPG just before WOW"s release and was upgraded to the World of Warcraft RPG just before Burning Crusade came out.
It's out of print now but available in game shops that still have stocks and through sources such as DriveThruRPG. Although some of the material has been retconned or changed by Blizzard, there's more than enough to keep a Lore Junkie busy for weeks. Even most of Northrend was predicted quite accurately in the Lands of Mystery supplement.
The game used the D20 SRD rules and featured the whole works prestige classes, (of which Death Knight was one of them) runemasters etc.
For dedicated searchers the print books can still be found, I know Compleat Strategist in NYC is one place where you can still get a complete set of 2nd edition.

The battle with Eranikus and the shades in Moonglade is pretty epic, everyone should do that quest line at some point. Well maybe not the grinding 10 billion Silithid Carapace Fragments bit.
Wolftech Jun 16th 2009 1:13PM
What do you mean there are no WoW RPG books?
http://www.warcraftrpg.com/
There has been a d20 Warcraft/WoW rpg for several years now...
Wolftech Jun 16th 2009 1:15PM
I did forget to mention that it is no longer in print, but it exists and you can still get it (and it is available in PDF from from White Wolf)
PeeWee Jun 16th 2009 1:38PM
I thought WW dropped all PDF-distribution to counter the illegal sharing of them?
