The Queue: All your fault

Welcome back to The Queue, WoW.com's daily Q&A column where the WoW Insider team answers your questions about the World of Warcraft. Alex Ziebart will be your host today.
You know, I was getting bored of that whole musical intro thing, but having it around certainly made these preambles easier to write. What do you write here every day about a daily Q&A column? Guess what, guys! We're A'ing more Qs! Shock! Awe!
So you've broken me. Congratulations. I am now a hollow husk of a man that can do nothing but uphold the status quo. I hope you're proud of yourselves. Here it goes again.

WootZoot asked...
"Any word on if Blizzard is working on a new novel or RPG book?"
No word on any RPG books. I kind of have my doubts that we'll see one during WoW's lifetime, but I have nothing to back that up. It's just a feeling.
Novels? The next big one is going to be a book focused on Malfurion (probably titled Stormrage), likely timed for the next expansion like Arthas was for Wrath of the Lich King. It's being written by Richard Knaak, and if you've been reading this blog for a long time, you probably already know my thoughts on that.
If you're into comics and manga, they're also working on the Thassarian manga. Beyond those, I don't think we've heard of anything else that's on the horizon.
Robert M asked...
"What is the easiest way to contact a WoW.com blogger? Sometimes the post has some interesting information and sometimes it needs to be expounded upon, but when you try and use the contact interface, you only get the general WoW.com and not the option of choosing a writer. Is there a way to pose a Shaman question to Rossi or a Druid question to Robert outside of comments? The Queue has been one of my favorite sections of WoW.com, and it would be awesome if at the end of a class piece, the bloggers could try and answer or direct a player on where to find the answer for a question that is more reader directed."
Some of our writers are more willing to throw their email addresses out there than others, so the best way to contact who you're looking for is to use that contact form. Every single one of us reads those letters, so if you're aiming something at Rossi or Robert, just state clearly that you're directing your message at them.
Of course, we probably won't respond to someone being a troll or a person asking something like, "how u mine 4 titan grip." If you have a good question, though? You'll probably get a response.
Radioted asked...
"The reason we're told we have to go stop Algalon the Observer is because he's going to send a signal off to the Titans that Azeroth needs to be re-formatted- essentially disintegrated and rebuilt on the atomic level. If this was a power the Titans possessed, why didn't they do that after they first defeated the Old Gods? The only reason I can think of is that such a maneuver wouldn't actually destroy the Old Gods, but then again, if it didn't, what would be the point?"
The Titans don't consider Azeroth a lost cause quite yet. Yeah, it has some baddies under the surface, but they've locked them up and if those things stay locked up, Azeroth will be fine and dandy like wine and candy. That's assuming those things actually do stay locked up, though. Algalon is there to send word home if something to the contrary happens. The Titans' security measures have been compromised, one of the Keepers has been killed. Now it's Algalon's job to say, "Hey, things aren't going as well as we hoped. It's time for a purge."
Eri asked...
"About the flying mounts speed increase from 60%, are they planning on doing the same with flying carpets?"
The carpets are flying mounts, so... yes.
Shadowdasher asked...
"I was doing Argent Tournament dailies the other day and whilst jousting I got an emote that said "Eranikus emerges from the nightmare, tranquility sets over Moonglade". I've seen this emote happen multiple times and all of them have been at random moments. Whats up? Is this Blizz teasing us about the Emerald Dream? A special Druid only random emote? Has the ice stone melted again?!"
This is a realm-wide emote that's a part of a very old quest chain. Many people still run it just for the sake of seeing it, because it's a pretty incredible chain. Back at level 60, it took not only guild effort to complete, but server effort. Blizzard just doesn't make 'em like that anymore. Go check out the Scepter of the Shifting Sands quest chain and be awed.

I'm sure we've all noticed by now that the Hyjal zone in Kalimdor is offlimits. Is there any indication that Blizz is planning on making this a playable zone at some point? Maybe for a futre expansion?

I recently started a Hunter on a new server because I can't stand the guilds on my level 80's server and the commmunity knida sucks. I saw that Survivial is now the most popular Hunter spec, so I have 2 questions:
1. Is Survival huge DPS? I'm looking for a levelling spec and a raiding spec. The levelling needs to keep me alive and the raid spec needs the highest DPS possible. Suggestions?
2. I've never levelled a Hunter to the point where I need to watch stats. Which stats are good for a Hunter trying to get the highest DPs possible? I assume Attack is one, but I have no other ideas.
Kylenne Jun 16th 2009 9:51PM
BM is still by far the best leveling spec for a hunter. Get yourself a tenacity pet for best results, all tenacity pets can spec into Thunderstomp now so Gorillas are no longer the must have they used to be. As far as your stats go, Agi > AP. Agi will give you both AP and crit. Don't completely overlook stam either, as your pet's stats will scale with yours, thus if you have more stam so does your pet, which means more survivability and less downtime. If your heart is still set on leveling MM or Survival, I would wait until Northrend to respec, as that's about the point where your pet's ability to hold aggro vs. your shots starts getting wonky.
But honestly, a monkey on crack could level a hunter, don't worry too much about it. (Being GOOD is another story...)

Midsummer Fire Festival starts this Sunday. Is there any word on it being updated for Wrath of the Lich King and level 80, or will we all just have an easy time killing level 70 Ahune?
There's an achievement for juggling fire in Dalaran, but that seems like the only new things. Not even so much as Northrend Fire Elders.

They need to return epic quests to the game. WoW is getting deadly dull.

Here's a bit of Azeroth that has always driven me berzerk and maybe the Lore Nerd could expound on it for me.
Why are the Goblins neutral?
It makes sense that with an unending war underway the Goblins, consummate merchants that they are, would seek to play the middle and turn a profit. But if I was Varian Wrynn, and I knew there were Gnomish engineers (my allies) and Goblin engineers (who are logically selling goodies to the Horde), I'd either forcibly bring them into the Alliance or neutralize them to gain a technological advantage over Thrall. Is there a reason lore wise that neither faction has forced the Goblins to pick a side? Not exactly like the Kirin Tor and their touch-me-not bubble over Dalaran, not like they have anything resembling an army, either, and the Steamwheedle Cartel isn't particularly powerful, it's just making a handsome profit off Azeroth always having a war or two going. Is there any real reason neither Thrall nor Wrynn seems to give a crap that they're intentionally helping both sides and dragging everything out?
Docrev Jun 16th 2009 6:55PM
Goblins were allied with the Horde at one point. The Horde's repeated use of Goblin Sappers (goblins with explosives strapped to them) may have helped turn the Goblins against the Horde, and the Alliance may still hold that against the Goblins.
Balius Jun 17th 2009 11:12AM
Nah, Goblins seem pretty at-ease with exploding due to their own machinations. The official lore reason that they're not part of the Horde is that they realized there was more profit to be made from straddling the fence.
If I had to guess why one side or the other didn't push them off the fence, I imagine it's the risk that the other side would gain a powerful ally and that the side doing the pushing would lose a source of munitions/transportation/strategic stronghold in the world.
Fenrix Jun 16th 2009 7:39PM
Do we know yet where they're putting Ahune the Frost Lord? Is he still going to be in Slave Pens or are they relocating him to Northrend?

Why is there a troll warlock on the "Under Development" page? I just now noticed this...could troll warlocks be "under development"? :P

My question is why is wow.com so horribly laggy compared to the MUCH BETTER wow insider? Ever since you made the switch I can't easily scroll from top to bottom, it's just jerk, jerk jerk. If fact it's like Dalaran has invaded your blog and dropped my fps down to 3.
Extremitus Jun 17th 2009 3:38AM
Do you have the page zoomed in? I found that that happened to me when I crtl-scrolled it to be larger.
Hiwa Jun 17th 2009 1:33PM
nope, same settings as always. But after reading your comment I tried the page zoomed in and zoomed out,and it continues to be laggy.

Are they planning on taking the title out of the game anytime soon? I just started playing and I want to be sure that I have ample time to hit the level cap and acquire such an awesome title.
Alexran Jun 16th 2009 9:03PM
the Crusader title, I mean.

AQ event was epic, the naxx release event was weak and had been done before... I miss the days when faction vs faction ment something now we all work together live together(shat dalaran) its really silly we can't talk to each other since we pvp our own faction in arena as much as the damn dirty horde.
revan Jun 17th 2009 7:13AM
Is there a relation between the Old Gods and the Burning legion?
J. sykes Jun 17th 2009 1:41PM
I'm totally new to WoW...I'm trying to figure out where exactly I should be going after a certain level. I'm not quite sure how the flow of the game leads me to different locales. Should I just be exploring on my own?
Also, how can I make some money? Is mining still a good profession?
Drahliana Jun 25th 2009 3:21PM
I believe the official answer is that the Goblins are not united under one leader had but instead have several competing trade princes. i.e. one runs the Venture Company operations, another the Steamwheedle confederaton and so on. One trading prince is the one who provided services for the Horde in the last wars and still does so now providing Zeppelin travel and other sundries.
The prince of the Steamwheedle Cartel decided to one up him by selling his services to BOTH and any factions believing by doing so created twice the opportunity for profit.
The Venture Company prince on the other hand decided to simply seize his own wealth no matter what faction he annoys in the process.
