In my perfect world, rogues are OP at PVP (due mostly to increase survivability mechanisms in the sub tree), middle of the pack for PVE DPS, but at the same time, offer some sort of additional raid support/utility that is unique to them in the ways that hunters do.

I'd personally gladly sacrifice some raid DPS in this sense. You'd still be vital to bring along in raids, yet not completely irreplaceable, while at the same time you'd be what an assassin should be; lethal in all pvp situations.
