Patch 3.2 PTR soon?
The patch 3.2 news is coming pretty heavy, leading me to wonder when we're going to get the chance to try this stuff out for ourselves on the PTR. Here's an indication that it might be relatively soon: the European PTR forum was wiped clean last night, and the default stickies reinstated.
The character copy links and the PTR client download links don't work yet, of course; if they did, we'd have a much bigger story for you. And this doesn't necessarily mean the PTR is going up today (although it could), but it does mean it's getting nearer. On the other hand, we still haven't heard a peep about the new 5/10/25-man content; I expect to see something about that before the PTR opens.
Still, I'm going to go out on a limb and guess that we'll get the patch 3.2 PTR on Friday. What's your prediction?
Patch 3.2 will bring about a new 5, 10, and 25 man instance to WoW, and usher in a new 40-man battleground called the Isle of Conquest. WoW.com will have you covered every step of the way, from extensive PTR coverage through the official live release. Check out WoW.com's Guide to Patch 3.2 for all the latest!

It would be nice to see if they're also implementing the new ret Paladin combat system, I'm gonna wager that it's going to be up within a week, two weeks at the very most.

I may have missed something somewhere, but what new ret pally combat system are you speaking of? I thought I was keeping up on most things but this is a doozy if I missed this O_O

When Blizzard removed Exorcism from PvP, they mentioned that they would re-enable it once they changed the way Paladins did damage while reducing burst. They said it would happen in the next major content patch, but 3.2 might be considered minor, even with all the changes.

You would need to visit the PTR page on worldofwarcraft website to get your character set up. There's no system requirements (I've done PTR on my old computer). Basically after you download the necessary files for PTR, your wow launcher will have an option to log onto it. It's actually easier to get onto PTR than most think, but PTR kinda sucks because the people on there have no idea how to use their characters. OS10 took us 2 hours to complete.

It's a free for all. You just need to have the most up to date live patch installed, and then you download the ptr client when it becomes available.
If pre-mades are not available you will need to copy your character from live over to the test realm, and that is really the determining factor of who gets in. Queues are often very long (sometimes up to a day) especially with major content patches like this one is going to be. However I have never had to wait as long as the queue says it's going to take, maybe I'm just lucky, or maybe people just drop from queue along the way bumping me up../shrug

Anyone that has an active account as of whatever date they use for this patch can.

This time I'll stick to wow-related sites/blogs to get updated about PTR news. I spent countless hours on 3.0 PTR and I really hate that Auction House, trainers, talent-resets and so on cost like live servers (not to mention the absurd prices of AH... people sometimes amaze me). Every single item/option you can buy on PTR should be free and available to test stuff. Plus, every time a PTRE patch goes live... something that used to work just breaks and makes your class useless. This is how "test" realms work of course but I wont pay my monthly fee to be a fake-blizzard tester anymore.
elfennau Jun 17th 2009 12:38PM
You pay your monthly fee to be able to use the servers. PTR is voluntary and has nothing to do with paying to use the live servers.
Don't test to help iron out bugs. No one really cares. :)

@ elfennau
I know, I just said that paying to spend some time on the LIVE game is more than enough, so I wont spend my free time anymore on PTR's :)

I wonder when it will be released on live realms. It feels like its coming so quick. Most guilds have not cleared Ulduar yet and we are just getting some world firsts on AtO. I hope it is at least another month before 3.2 is live.
sephirah Jun 17th 2009 11:29AM
IMO, if the new raid isn't something you can consider real progression (like Naxx/OS) 3.2 can go live even at end of July. Otherwise, end of August/first of September to allow the largest number of guilds to have Ulduar on farm (or at least cleared it once).

My theory for the timing of this content patch is based off of the fact that it will bring season 7 of Arena into play.
Arena Seasons :
Season 1 - 20 Weeks
Season 2 - 23 Weeks
Season 3 - 29 Weeks (Good grief!)
Season 4 - 17 Weeks
Season 5 - 17 Weeks
Season 6 - (current)
So if they are actually sticking with the 17 week period, we'd see this in like... end of August. So it should hit the PTR say.. beginning to mid July to give them about a month and half of testing time.

Get to work on those hard modes i guess lol
Tahas Jun 17th 2009 11:17AM
The US PTR Forum is down...
Auto Jun 17th 2009 11:24AM
Yep. US PTR forum appears to be wiped. Look for the PTR's to go up soon!
Kendall213 Jun 17th 2009 12:42PM
US forum has been like that since the last patch.
ReyesOfHope Jun 17th 2009 12:44PM
They have been down because there is no active PTR to discuss.
Sanguinefrozenboy Jun 17th 2009 11:27AM
I would bet more so on it coming out sometime after all the Q & A's are done.
Aeltyra Jun 17th 2009 11:30AM
I'd guess it's too early and they don't have enough stuff they want players to test yet.
