The Queue: Clap hands

I clapped hands with Kil'jaeden pre-Wrath. He wasn't very happy about it.
Maybe if he heard today's reading music he'd think differently.
DoIt asked...
"I've taken an extended break from WoW and am planning to come back and level some alts when Patch 3.2 drops, anyone have an ETA on it?"
The PTR should be dropping soon. This week or next week. Patch 3.2 will move to the live servers a month or two after that. There is no specific date though.
Nottajoke asked...
"Is Blizzard planning that when you hit 80 that you can roll an alt at 58 or basically anything that would be above level one?"
I would be very surprised if they did this. Blizzard will continue (most likely) to make leveling easier, but I doubt they'll ever just say "Here, skip the majority of the game because you've done it once."
Erogroth asked...
"When patch 3.2 comes out, will the current Argent Tournament dailies still be available? Will we still be able to champion all the factions and do everything there is to do now (except maybe gathering stone and wood) or do we need to finish all the faction and questing before 3.2 drops?"
No dailies will be removed. All current dailies will be available in Patch 3.2. Additional dailies will be added, however.
You will still be able to do everything you can do now.
037 asked...
"I currently play an Enhancement Shaman. I have a decent sent of Resto gear and my guild needs me to become a full time healer. Is it crappy of me to ask them to front me the gold to dual-spec?"
Never hurts to ask! Just be sure to be very polite and very easy going. Don't argue if the answer is no, you don't want to burn bridges with officers.
I know that I've okayed large expenditures from the guild bank before, but I've only done it if the person asking says please and thank you, etc...

"No dailies will be removed."
Uhh, didn't they say that the two goblin quests will go away since, you know, the colosseum will be built?
Zalvi Jun 17th 2009 6:11PM
he was talking about the dailies that involve progressing to champion factions
Tom Jun 17th 2009 8:48PM
IMO I think they will turn those into something about the Colosseum needing constant repairs because the scourge is always attacking it. That's the way I'd do it anyway.

Don't forget, when Sunwell came around all of those little building up quests stayed around. They were just renamed to something involving keeping it up, instead of pushing it forward. I wouldn't be surprised if the goblin quests stick around and are changed to gathering materials for repairs, instead of gathering materials for building.

Has Blizzard ever hinted whether they might consider bringing back faction specific classes? Vanilla had Paladins and Shamans, but were those too big of an balancing issue (and a qq issue) to ever go back to that (not to mention that they'd have to introduce two new classes instead of one).
Firestride Jun 17th 2009 6:47PM
Didn't you just answer your own question?
Eamara Jun 17th 2009 6:53PM
Pretty much impossible. It was a headache to balance, not to mention the community outcry at the time. "Alliance have it easier on this boss because of fear ward!" "Shamans trivialise this boss because of blahblah" etc. It's just a headache and completely unnecessary.
In short, no, don't expect faction-specific classes again, ever.
Sorro Jun 17th 2009 7:22PM
Yeah, can you imagine the Ally QQ if only Horde had Bloodlust because of Shaman being horde-only?
Nizari Jun 17th 2009 11:00PM
@sorro: I think that's the entire reason they removed faction-specific classes. They wanted to give shamans bloodlust (their defining spell in WC3), and there was just no way they could do it without severely imbalancing the game towards Horde.

Good Queue Music today! I like it.
Is there a question for the Queue so thought-provoking that one of our hosts couldn't answer on his own and had to seek the other host for an answer?
impurezero Jun 19th 2009 3:00PM
That's a bit like asking if God could make a rock so heavy that even he couldn't lift it...
shockologist Jun 17th 2009 6:25PM
Meh the goblins pay 27 gold between the two of them but I would rather just have one that gives a writ or something...
Mourneblade Jun 17th 2009 6:25PM
"I currently play an Enhancement Shaman. I have a decent sent of Resto gear and my guild needs me to become a full time healer. Is it crappy of me to ask them to front me the gold to dual-spec?"
I'd say 1/2 and 1/2. 500g can be gathered in a few days of dailies.
Turlagh Jun 17th 2009 8:28PM
Yeah. I'm a casual (non-raiding) player and I can make 1000 Gold in a week barely trying.
agnoster Jun 18th 2009 5:24AM
"Yeah. I'm a casual (non-raiding) player and I can make 1000 Gold in a week barely trying."
Yeah, well I'm a casual raiding player, so the gold I get from raids barely covers the repair bill, and I honestly don't have the desire to run dailies. I know it's the MMO MO to make us grind grind grind, but I like to play the game to have *fun*, which means doing things that are hard because they present a modicum of challenge, not hard because they're so tedious my eyeballs fall out (dailies).

I can see both sides to the story here.
On one hand, your guild is asking for the change - so naturally they should fund it (or at least part fund it).
On the other hand, there's no excuse for being that dirt poor. The only time I've gone below 15k this expansion pack (carried about 10k into wrath itself) was when I power levelled JCing a couple of months ago. Set me back 4k in total which I made back in less than 2 weeks of casually selling gems etc. Gold is thrown at you so much that there comes a time where I can't even be bothered catching it anymore.
Ask your guild nicely I'm sure they'll at least part fund it.

"I doubt they'll ever just say 'Here, skip the majority of the game because you've done it once.'"
....Unless you roll a death knight.
MusedMoose Jun 17th 2009 7:32PM
That's completely different. The DK is a hero class, designed to be played from 55. Also, with the lore behind the class, it would make no sense for a DK to start off at level 1 - why would Arthas create an army of powerful knights who could get their frozen asses handed to them by low-level-zone innkeepers? *grin*
atrahasis Jun 17th 2009 8:12PM
I disagree - I think they could have easily made players start at lvl 1 for their deathknight. It could be explained from a lore perspective because the deathknights were imbued with unholy power by the Lich King himself, and when they split from him that source of power was removed.
If you played Warcraft 3, you should remember that Arthas gradually became more powerful as you played through the campaign, and when he clunked down his paladin hammer and picked up Frostmourne he underwent a transformation. As a deathknight he started at level 1, why shouldn't players?
That being said, I completely understand why Blizzard chose to give 55 levels to death knights. They wanted people to actually play the class, or be able to try out the class without committing to completely rerolling. Forcing players to start at level 1 means that only a very small fraction of those players would make it to 60 (and start coasting through outland), and even fewer that make it to end-game.
Introducing a whole new class is a very tricky thing, and I think Blizzard handled it well. For a long time, I had wondered how they were going to handle talent points for brand new deathknights, and granting them through quest rewards handled that very nicely in my opinion.
Sean Jun 17th 2009 10:36PM
They also tuned a number of Boss encounters for Death Knight tanks (Sarth comes to mind) so they needed people to have DKs at high levels quickly.
I'm not usually given to a lot of QQ....but I am really sick of Death Knights. I wish they had never been introduced to the game.
