WoW Moviewatch: Maw Trailer
This is the trailer for Grubthar's upcoming feature-length movie, Maw. The premise of the movie centers around a small group of orcs who are chased out of Khaz Modan by the Alliance. With nowhere to go, the war party sets sail to the west. A similar group of Alliance soldiers gives chase to the horde. When both arrive on a distant shore, events take place which will "test their honor and seal their fates."
The basic kernel of Maw's story sounds decent, but something about the trailer didn't really click for me. I think I felt like the trailer was focused on the dragons more than the orcs. And while I would love a dragon movie, and am reminded of the White Drake because of it, I don't think that's what Maw's going to be about. On the other hand, I could be overthinking this.
Ultimately, though, I'm a fan of story-based machinima, and I look forward to seeing what Grubthar delivers. Click here to check out the trailer.

I would call that more of a teaser then a trailer. I didn't think it was too bad. I had a little trouble making out what he was saying in the beginning. Maybe some subtitles would help with that but overall I thought it was interesting. The shot of the Orc on the cliff with the drakes flying overhead was pretty cool.

looks pretty meh tbh. Im sure a lot of hard work went into it, but the trailer gave nothing about what it could be about, i see orcs and dragons, and heard him talk about humans hunting him down like animals. So maybe its a movie about orcs getting revenge, but to make it wore original they use dragons as weapons? Idk. Oh and 50% of the trailer was a black screen, very bad imo.

So, is this how these Orcs became the DragonMaw?

Not bad...I agree with Gizmoduck's comment about too much black screen. But what I want to know is what kind of dragon was that first one?

I have little hope that this "feature length" machinima will ever see the light of day. I've seen A LOT of trailers on WoW Moviewatch promising a feature length machinima, but I've never seen such a machinima materialize.
It's a shame too. I'd love to sit down and watch a lengthy and well made machinima, but even the longest and most drawn out machinima projects can barely top 15 minutes, let alone an hour and a half.

Without revealing too much of the plot, I should say that the movie will not just be about orcs (and humans). Among other subjects, it will try to explore the nature of dragons and their riders and the fading fine line between the two. If I accomplish what I envision, Maw will be a semi-philosophical action-drama that asks many more questions than it answers.
As I read my descriptions, I do realize that the project sounds perhaps too ambitious like many other i-wanna-make-my-own-movie beginnings, and some of the comments have justly called that out. I can only say that at this moment I'm determined to see this project through. Whether it materializes or not, we'll find out together.
And yes, there will be dragons. ;) Aerial combat, fire, brimstone...
