Battleground leveling and experience changes in Patch 3.2: Twinks v. Twinks

- You will be able to level through PvP Battlegrounds
- You will be able to turn off experience gains
The second major change is the ability to turn off this experience gain in Battlegrounds and the rest of WoW (at a cost of 10g). This means that twinks are a viable and supported option in WoW, and lets those players who want to sit in the 30s bracket enjoy it to their heart's content.
Additionally, if you have turned off experience gains, you'll be placed in separate battlegrounds from those that have them turned on. That means that twinks will play against other twinks, and not against those players who are just interested in the bracket from a more casual perspective.
The floodgates of Patch 3.2 are wide open now. Enjoying it?
Patch 3.2 will bring about a new 5, 10, and 25 man instance to WoW, and usher in a new 40-man battleground called the Isle of Conquest. WoW.com will have you covered every step of the way, from extensive PTR coverage through the official live release. lol, twinks will get to finally " kill other twinks" see how fast they twindle away now
Cabcru Jun 18th 2009 3:01PM
It's what they've always claimed they did it for. Be interesting to see if it was all just bluster and how many are going to spit their dummy, throw a tantrum and cry.

Twindle away? Twinks want this change. They love the ruleset. The like the constraints placed upon them. They want to fight others that are just as geared out as they are.
impurezero Jun 18th 2009 3:11PM
You have to admit though...there will certainly be a percentage of "twinks" who will not like this change, mainly because they simply enjoy beating up on people who have no real chance of fighting back.

Here's what's going to happen with twinks:
At first they will turn off their experience. Then, they will realize their queue times are absurdly long, and they can just keep their xp on and stay in regular queues by avoiding objectives like flag caps and killing flag carriers. So they'll still be in BGs with everyone else and they'll be even bigger dead weight than they already are when it comes to actually completing the objectives and winning the battlground.
Hopefully the completion of a BG, even if it's a loss, will award XP, otherwise that's what will happen.

What's the point of twinking if you can't dominate lowbies in the BG? Isn't a "twink" someone who is vastly outgeared relative to the general populace at that given level?
schm0 Jun 18th 2009 5:41PM
Yes, the completion of the BG will most likely reward experience, regardless of winning or losing. Why would you encourage players to avoid objectives altogether with no experience gain from the conclusion? I'm sure it will be minimal compared to those objectives, but still, the new system seems to be designed for giving twinks their own BGs.

Aww twinks won't be able to kill non twinks anymore because they will be in a different bracket. It's twinks vs twinks now, let the showdown begin!

XP gain is depleted from everything, not just battlegrounds, if you pay the 10g fee.
kala Jun 19th 2009 12:09PM
WTB also an option to turn XP-gain back ON :)
Or did i miss it in the notes?

There is.

I love twinking, so I am pumped.
Finally, I won't have to be teamed with scrubs who have no idea how to play.
Finally, I won't have to listen to said scrubs complain about me.
Finally, I can pvp.
Thank you blizzard. You rock.
PS- I think the patch notes indicated that you can turn off ALL experience gains. This means twinks can run more dungeons, complete more quests, without fear of leveling.
I think I'm going to go roll another twink now to celebrate.
Lorsty Jun 18th 2009 3:00PM
Yay!
I don't have a twink and I'm not a big fan of PvP but I'm happy this change will make so many people happy. ^-^
Alden Jun 18th 2009 3:03PM
In hindsight my language was a little hard.
I should refer to non-twinks by a nicer name than scrub.
Most of them are good players, just looking for a different experience than me.
I will avoid that kind of language again, I promise.
My bad.
Gnosh Jun 18th 2009 3:26PM
Even though twink RUINED my low-level PVP experience (and you could EASILY tell, because their PVP rank was level-maxed)...
...I forgive you. May this change keep our tribes from further conflict, and let us be done with it.
Rakah Jun 18th 2009 3:08PM
Even though i don't twink i might just pay the 10g for the extra fun/challange of taking down peeps with 30% more hp than me.
Rakah Jun 18th 2009 3:16PM
"Disabling experience gains will prevent a player from gaining experience through any means available in the game." oh well nevermind then, guess it makes it easier to twink though.
Oops Jun 18th 2009 3:00PM
Okay, I just have to say that your comment both made me laugh and made my day. I have a really twisted sense of humor, apparently.
thebvp Jun 18th 2009 2:59PM
Good luck actually getting into a game, though.
I doubt the separate battlegrounds feature will actually make it to live if they consider what it will do to queue times. Queue times in the higher brackets are especially bad and I don't foresee turning off experience on my 50-59 paladin unless I want to, say, just get a few quest items, then immediately switch back.
Except maybe in 10-19, I really don't think there's enough of a player base to support dividing between the twinks and nontwinks.
thebvp Jun 18th 2009 3:03PM
And not to mention, at 10-19, it would pretty much just be a WSG with 17 rogues and 3 hunters game after game- not exactly an exciting or varied player experience.
