Battleground leveling and experience changes in Patch 3.2: Twinks v. Twinks

- You will be able to level through PvP Battlegrounds
- You will be able to turn off experience gains
The second major change is the ability to turn off this experience gain in Battlegrounds and the rest of WoW (at a cost of 10g). This means that twinks are a viable and supported option in WoW, and lets those players who want to sit in the 30s bracket enjoy it to their heart's content.
Additionally, if you have turned off experience gains, you'll be placed in separate battlegrounds from those that have them turned on. That means that twinks will play against other twinks, and not against those players who are just interested in the bracket from a more casual perspective.
The floodgates of Patch 3.2 are wide open now. Enjoying it?
Patch 3.2 will bring about a new 5, 10, and 25 man instance to WoW, and usher in a new 40-man battleground called the Isle of Conquest. No, the object of Battlegrounds is to win.
I bet you're the tard who fights on roads for no reason.
Netherscourge Jun 18th 2009 3:20PM
Oh gee - sorry - I thought the purpose of a Battle Groudn was to, you know, BATTLE OTHER PLAYERS IN PVP.
My bad.
I forgot the goal is to ride right past them on the way to boss.
They should just rename the "Field of Strife" to the "Field of Carebears", because Horde and Alliance just /hugs and /kisses each other as they ride past and ignore each other on their way to Balinda and Galvangar.

That's a fault with AV, not with Battlegrounds. The idea is to battle other players in a setting that isn't just team deathmatch - that's what we have the arena for.
GoneFishin Jun 18th 2009 3:17PM
Wait, by doing objectives do they mean that you can only get experience if you do an objective yourself? Will it be something like, the flag carrier and ONLY the flag carrier gets experience, or will it be like the whole team gets experience for capping?
micgillam Jun 18th 2009 3:36PM
You're thinking maybe someone will leave XP on for their twink and just avoid being the one to carry/recover the flag, but they can still rack up kills?
Mike Jun 18th 2009 3:20PM
Now can we see Blizzard unblock the level restrictions on gear enchants such as the leg armor =D
Spitfire457 Jun 18th 2009 3:22PM
So this means vanilla WoW is kinda coming back?!?!?!?!?!?!?
Fimbri Jun 19th 2009 10:30PM
There will still be the new talents, so it won't be pure vanilla. Not so "hardcore", but probably more enjoyable as it will allow people to participate with different specs. Another thing is Outland gear/enchants - depends on the guild whether they decide to use them and reap through the basic stuff or be true to the "pure vanilla" idea.

Um...
The point would be...gearing for tier 8?
o_O'
Really now, let's think about this...the badge system, while good in theory, was bound to have this change happen eventually. You should just be happy that they're still going to have a new badge for the tier 9 stuff. They're not going to give the best stuff out for free like they did in TBC. Tier 8 won't be the creme de-la creme next patch.
If /this/ change is the change that'll make you quit WoW, then...well, that's just silly.

Long queue times aren't as big an issue now that you can queue from anywhere.
micgillam Jun 18th 2009 3:31PM
Wait now..
"This means that you'll be able to level your character simply by competing in PvP in battlegrounds and completing objectives, such as capturing the flag in WSG or securing resources in AB. Not from killing other players."
vs.
"Players will now be awarded experience for completing objectives and actions that yield honor in Battlegrounds (honorable kills not included)."
There's a little bit of wiggle room here for KBs. Any clarification around?

Ok, Blizz once again hands me exactly what I hoped for... with a side dish of 'no thanks'.
Our guild wanted to hang at 60 and finish up Vanilla content before crossing to to Outlands. So, being able to turn off xp is awesome sauce. And having twinks in their own BG is bonus. They wanna play MinMax, here's yer own playground. For everyone else enjoying 'casual' pvp, we have the kiddie pools.
EXCEPT! Now our guild is already mid 60s in outlands.. and if we turn off xp so we can enjoy Outlands at level.. we get bumped into the twinks' playground!! Felgercarb!!!
Blizz, seriously, BG xp and non-BG xp need to be on separate toggles.. The twinks will turn them both off, so you'll know who to put in the sharks-with-lasers pool. If we can turn off non-BG xp, the incidental XP from the occasional BG won't matter.

Can I have your stuff?
Condor Jun 18th 2009 3:40PM
my lvl 1 bank alt will be able to get the Explorer title... and still be lvl 1!
Wish me luck!
Todd Jun 18th 2009 3:44PM
Get a friend to drive you around. Good luck.
hoocheymomma Jun 23rd 2009 10:34AM
sadly, you must enter all the instances for that, right?
Todd Jun 18th 2009 3:43PM
People who hate twinks can now rejoice.
Anaughtybear Jun 18th 2009 3:50PM
I don't foresee twinks actually enjoying this, since the whole point of doing it was to be better than the average player in the battle ground. If they can't get their jollies from smashing weaker opponents, I'm guessing a lot will move on to something else. Or at least start crying when they figure that part out.
Irshalthra Jun 18th 2009 3:57PM
I agree with your result, but not your reasoning. Most twinks do want to play each other in battlegrounds, but there will be qqing from the "unorganized" twinks. For those who are not in premades, they will get squashed by the organized premades on the other side. Premades are the tough thing to fight against.
Oh and longer Que times WILL kill the fun too...
uc3 Jun 18th 2009 7:05PM
Nice idea, but it won't work. My take is that most will no flag until forced too, because like every twink camping the graveyard just says they are there to beat up the scrubs. Sort of like arena get a ranking get a ranking and gear then reform so you can get more gear. This will fail just like the hidden arena ranking failed.
So the rules have not changed avoid BG's til 49, have some fun, definetly skip 59 unless your a DK then you and a gazzillion other dk can beat each other up. if you feel like it do 69 or 70 but your so close just get to 80. Do a few of weeks of naked arena get your wellfair gear and go have some fun in the bg's
