It's a horrible change. Blizz seems to think that instead of making under-used options more attractive (5v5's) they should make more popular options (2v2's, WG)unattractive by nerfing them. I have a rogue partner with whom I'm currently getting into arena, I've known him a long time and we're in the same guild. We're new to it and learning slowly, but due to our relative noobness and my currently crappy ISP we're not going to get far (hoping to hit 1800, maybe get a wep). I had high hopes of the season to follow though.
We have a 3's team with the only other guy in our guild who was interested, it's not a great comp and he's nowhere near as serious. Now I have to face the idea that our 2's means nothing and have to either bully our 3rd into being more serious, fish trade for a random, or give up on the idea of being competetive in arena. Cheers Blizz, arena participation is already low, why not batter the only bracket casuals are interested in and that shows consistently high numbers. No really, nice one.
