I used to PvP a lot, but shifted to PvE-only around 2.3 (and no, the 3.2 changes won’t pull me back in, in case you were wondering). I still follow PvP articles though. After about a day of absorbing 3.2 PTR notes and articles, I'm thinking that the question, "What Patch 3.2 means for PvP" may be a lot deeper than just a collection of big changes. I'm tend to think that big changes to PvP are the smoke that tells us that Blizz has data that PvP in general is in a firestorm of trouble - or at the least is not going at all the way they want it to be going. I haven't heard much in the way of PvP statistics lately, but various signals have been out there, such as reporting that the first Wrath Arena season had disastrously low attendance, and GC boasting that WG was full -- over-full and lagging so badly (because of a bad design) that Blizz had to encourage people *not* to do WG(?!) The forums exploded in complaints about AV, only to have Blizz tell them “works as designed”, “we’re happy with AV” - therefore implying that the customer should shut up and be happy about AV, too. Not to mention the incredibly boneheaded introduction of an ‘invisible’ rating system in the middle of the first Wrath Arena season. But 3.2 is bringing positively huge changes, including the ability to gear up for PvP through heroics & emblems of conquest, and the first new BG introduced in a content patch since vanilla, and forcing people up the chain into 3v3 and 5v5 for ratings gear. The death of PvP? No. But my guess is that the demographics of PvP in WoW - who is PvPing, and where they are choosing to PvP - are way out of whack with what Blizzard wants to see. They designed their way into this mess; we’ll see if they can work their way out.

"But my guess is that the demographics of PvP in WoW - who is PvPing, and where they are choosing to PvP"^^this + treatment for pvp that correlates with how you pvp.And I myself am wondering why people continue to make a fuss about twinking but never make a fuss about arena gear or tier gear. I can't see the difference between the two; Endgame@ 80 is just as temporary as being level 19 or level 39. Blizz is just giving twinks the recognition they deserve.
