Breakfast Topic: Your Midsummer Fire Festival goals
Are you focused on finishing the associated achievements on your way to a proto-drake? Are you using the quests as a way to level an alt or low level character? Farming Ahune for a Scorchling pet? Or perhaps you're enjoying the role-playing aspect of the event or even the thrill of raiding the home cities of the opposition. There's plenty for the casual player, too.
Let us know in the poll below and if you don't see the answer you like, leave it in the comments! Also, if you like to learn how to make the Midsummer magnet in the photo above, check out our World of WarCrafts article with detailed instructions.

No option for "all of the above"?
Stomy Jun 22nd 2009 12:32PM
their is now and that's what I'm doing already got the achievement on my main, it nets about 1300g so not a bad thing to do for all. and for a lv70 leveling it gives 6k exp per honor the flame, and 12k for putting one out. so also not bad for leveling!

[x] All of the above
Please add it, this event is one of the best in my opinion.
Knyle2 Jun 22nd 2009 8:09AM
What about the option for none of the above, Completely ignore the nonsense and just hope someone brings fireworks for boss kill Screen Shots.
Alchemistmerlin Jun 22nd 2009 10:12AM
"nonsense"
World events are nonsense? You must be a real hoot at parties.

I already got the achievements on my main, so only Brewfest left, so I might enjoy the rest of the time leveling an alt.
Wyred Jun 22nd 2009 8:27AM
While I'm still finishing the achievment on the way to getting a proto-drake, once I'm done there's a good chance I'll use this holiday to help lvl an alt. The extra q's and bonus xp from this holiday are awesome.
Wyred Jun 22nd 2009 8:31AM
While I'm at it, it was also a lot of fun meeting a lvl80 dwarf hunter in dun morogh that thought a priest would be a soft ganking target. I knew there was a reason I ran those q's in my pvp spec and gear.

I've done all the achievements on one character. Took me the majority of yesterday, but now that it is done, I might play around a bit with some alts to make money. Other than that, I'm just going to the dailies so I can get the brazier and maybe the pet.

I'm a completist so I tend to go for both all achievements and all fancy items. As luck would have it on the Ahune kill where I got the achievement from I also got the enchant and the Scorchling pet.
Having all achievements I'll now just do the daily a few times to buy the brazier.
I do read all texts and enjoy lore, but to be honest I'm not impressed with the Midsummer stuff. Most other events have more lore and the events seem to more naturally follow from the lore.
Alt leveling will happen when I have the time for it, though this event seems to be the best alt-boost of all events. Shame it's only 1 week.
pietrex Jun 22nd 2009 8:18AM
Actually, it's two weeks.

I've chosen 'complete the achievements', even though I've already done it. :) It was quite fun, exploring the old world content once again, listening to its music and enjoying my memories. I wouldn't want to do it again, though. It's probably my favourite event, maybe because it was the first one I had encountered in WoW.

I already got all of the achievments sans the Kill Ahune one. I'm currently level 61 and my goal is to reach 70 for this purpose before the festival ends. Anyone know if this is realistic? I'm thinking of one level each day.
I'm paladin so getting the capital cities fires was easy with mah bubble :D
lightningjynx Jun 22nd 2009 8:28AM
Actually, if you can find someone to run you through Slave Pens you can get the achievement now. Slave Pens is a level 62-64 zone, and you only have to be level 55 to actually enter the place. I'm not sure about the quest you have to complete to kill Ahune, but you should be ok with doing this achievement at your level as long as you have someone to bring you in.
Ok, so after looking on WoWhead.com, it looks like you only need to be lvl 65 to get the quest. So you should be able to do this considering the event is 2 weeks long. I hope you can get 4 levels in 2 weeks. Good luck with the achievement!
Kris Jun 22nd 2009 8:33AM
Thanks lightningjynx, will try to bother some higher levels to help me! :D
Rugus Jun 22nd 2009 8:51AM
Ahune achievement should require level 65 (source: http://www.wowhead.com/?quest=11955), so you need to level FAST... but you could be able to ding 65 before the end. Just try to focus on questing as much as you can OR doing instances with friends.

I had all but one achievement to do since i did them all last year. So i got the title as soon as i could get a handful of juggling torches. I also had the dancing flames from last year. I'm waiting on blizz to reset the fires so i can get the wisp minipet.
WoWie Zowie Jun 22nd 2009 8:20AM
i got all the achievements except the pole dancing one. i'm one of those not enough blossoms guys that did these last year and therefore can't get enough to buy the set.
jealouspirate Jun 22nd 2009 8:22AM
I completed the holiday yesterday mainly for the achievement and it was my first time ever participating.
I went in only thinking about my proto-drake, but as a Shaman I ended up enjoying a bit of the RP aspect of the whole thing. It's also kind of nice to travel to zones I rarely ever see anymore. Overall, I had a lot of fun doing the holiday.
Not to mention I made hundreds of gold! I didn't even realize visiting the fires gave gold until I was already finished Outland and the Eastern Kingdoms.
