Fix for the Midsummer Fire Festival being rolled out
Bornakk has just announced that they're currently rolling out a fix to our Midsummer woes that will reset all of the associated Midsummer quests. If you've been following along so far this holiday, it turned out that if you did all of your fire honoring/desecrating last year, you wouldn't be able to do it again this year. That meant you weren't able to get enough Burning Blossoms to purchase what you needed for the various achievements. We expected a fix from the beginning, and we're all glad to see it happen. It didn't take them long to do it, and that's a huge plus. The more time we have to get the Flame Keeper/Warden achievements done, the better.

So will this apply to the quests that have been completed this week? Will people who just finished them be able to do them again?
Isendre Jun 23rd 2009 6:16AM
I can confirm that the quests have been reset for those who have done them this week.

I could be wrong about this, but I'm fairly certain that the fire honoring/desecrating quests are dailies. I've done most of the Eastern Kingdoms ones twice already, before, I think, this change was enacted.
Redcoat Jun 22nd 2009 8:10PM
Does this mean we'll need to redo the achievements if they were retroactively granted?
Ginby Jun 22nd 2009 8:10PM
Does this mean everyone is gonna reset now? Or just the people that did it last year?
Dazaras Jun 24th 2009 12:00PM
They're dailies, so you should be able to do them, yes.

Am I ever glad I finished Kal last night and waited to start East.

"If you are in the process of completing an achievement such as Extinguishing Kalimdor, this fix will reset your progress and you will need start over."
I just completed all those achievements on two characters, so I REALLY hope that they are not resetting the achievements. That's *probably* not what they meant, but they could have been less vague.

if what you quoted is correct, then if you have finished the achievements, you should be good. it if you are in the PROCESS of completing that you'll have to restart.

I'm with the people that asked if this resets everything to Saturday night. I did the Horde & Alliance pyre stuff in EC, Kal, and OLs, and if I have to do a run through Darnassus again (as a Hordie) I'll scream.
Sarakin Jun 22nd 2009 8:18PM
that explains the server reset. I figured it was something like this.
Redcoat Jun 22nd 2009 8:21PM
Well, I guess they've not reset either of the realms I play on (Runetotem, Blackwing Lair) as I can't complete any quests.
Pharmgyrl Jun 26th 2009 9:14AM
I've never done these on 2 of my characters, both horde, one of whom is a brand new alt only a month or two old and the other I never played much until earlier the xpac, yet I can't get the quests on either of them. The only way I seem to be able to earn any blossoms on either is to desecrate alliance fires. :(

Er, yes, that would be terrible if the Horde all had to come running back in again ... 20 kills to City Defender ...

I already completed all the Fire Festival achievements and got my title. Does this fix mean that I can do all the fires again for more gold? Seriously, that was like the best gold to time ratio I've ever made money doing. About a thouasand gold all told for all the fires.

I think they mean that if you have the achievement, it will remain and the quests associated with it still be complete but any achievements made up of many parts/quests, if you haven't done all the parts (in other words if you haven’t completed the achievement), the entire achievement will reset, and the quests will need to be done again. That's how I understand it anyway, if that made any sense at all =)
Does that mean we get to keep the rewards and get them again for the quests that have reset for us?
Dave Jun 22nd 2009 8:28PM
if they reset this for people who have it finished while also keeping them with the achievement, that would be fantastic.
I'm around 100 short of the pet after getting the achievement, and i'm not interested in running Ahune 10 times a day for a %2 shot at a 1-in-5 chance at the pet.
I'm pretty sure I can get those 100 in enough time with dailies anyway, but it'd be real nice if I could just go and re-do all the outland spots and get credit again.
