New information found in patch 3.2 achievements

The first patch 3.2 PTR client is now available for download, which means it's available for datamining. The ever-resourceful people at wirebrain have done just this to all the achievements found in the client, and have unearthed some interesting new details. We are unable to verify this information right now, but here's what they've found.
Read on after the cut for:
- A new holiday.
- The names of the bosses in the new raid and 5-man dungeon, and their related achievements.
- A new Vault of Archavon boss.
To be clear, there will be spoilers.
The new holiday is going to be called Pilgrim's Bounty, and is clearly modeled after Thanksgiving. The achievements most revolve around food, and if you do them all, you get a "Pilgrim" title and a turkey pet.
It seems that there is a Bountiful Table at each capitol, with a variety of dishes to enjoy. There are also a number of new recipes to cook, and various side achievements. See the Wirebrain list for more. Finally, there will be daily quests, like many recent holidays have. I'm not seeing any mention of a special boss.
As for the new 5-man dungeon, Trial of the Champion, it looks like it will have a different set of bosses for Horde and Alliance, with each faction apparently fighting the Grand Champions of the other faction.
- Ambrose Boltspark
- Colosos
- Lana Stouthammer
- Marshal Jacob Alerius
- Jaelyne Evensong
- Argent Confessor Paletress
- Eadric the Pure
- The Black Knight
And here's the other:
- Deathstalker Visceri
- Eressea Dawnsinger
- Mokra the Skullcrusher
- Runok Wildmane
- Zul'tore
- Argent Confessor Paletress
- Eadric the Pure
- The Black Knight
It looks like the first set are Alliance NPCs that the Horde fight, and the second set is the reverse. After the faction-specific bosses, there are two Argent-aligned bosses, followed by the Black Knight. All I have to say is I hope there is no jousting in this instance, because that is the most boring combat there is in WoW.
As for the raid instance that we are all looking forward to so much, I see the following bosses listed on the achievement list:
- Gormok the Impaler
- Acidmaw
- Dreadscale
- Icehowl
- Lord Jaraxxus
- Edyis Darkbane
- Fjola Lightbane
- Final Boss
One of those names looks like a placeholder to me, though I can't put my finger on why exactly. This contradicts the "5 bosses" figure we were given for the raid; maybe some of these bosses are randomly selected, like the bosses in Violet Hall.
There is also a reference in the achievements to "twin valkyr," so the Darkbane and Lightbane bosses are probably part of the same encounter. That still leaves us with 7 bosses, though. If Acidmaw, Dreadscale, and Icehowl are part of the same encounter, either all at once, randomly chosen, or as a sort of gauntlet (like the second boss in Utgarde Pinnacle), that would leave us with the proper 5.
As for the other raid achievements, it's hard to derive too much from them. There is one achievement that refers to reaching the Tribute Chest with 50 attempts left in heroic mode, so I would guess that 50 is the number of attempts you start out with.
Finally, the new Vault of Archavon boss will be named Koralon the Flame Watcher.
Interesting stuff! I'm looking forward to seeing more on the PTR.
Patch 3.2 will bring about a new 5, 10, and 25 man instance to WoW, and usher in a new 40-man battleground called the Isle of Conquest. I'm not surprised that they put in a Thanksgiving related holiday, but isn't there already a feast-related one around that time? Like, the Honoring of Fallen Soldiers or something?

Yeah. But there's not really much to it. Just some tables with free food on them, and a quest. This new Thanksgiving holiday sounds awesome. I want that turkey pet.

A couple countries have their own version of thanksgiving (Canada celebates theirs in Oct, and the Netherlands holds some sort of church service, because pilgrams stoped there on the way to America), and i bet they're much different from the United States version. I always figured it was going to be left out as a holiday due to time differences, and customs. Huh... also Grenada celebrates by eat biscuits with grapes to celebrate the birth of mulac barrimus (Thank you Wikipedia, I learned something new.)
It'll be interesting to see how this one plays out.
Mmm turkey... *goblegoblegoble*

50 attempts at a raid encounter? Im going to go out on a Limb and say that loot will probably work something like
0 wipes BIS gear or +2 items in 25 man and mount
1-10 wipes Really good Gear or +2 items no mount
11-25 Decent Gear +1 item no mount
26+ passable Gear
What I don't quite get is will downing zero bosses save you to the raid? Also, what pug would stay in raid together 20+ wipes.
Karilyn Jun 23rd 2009 4:28PM
"Also, what pug would stay in raid together 20+ wipes."
The wipe attempts are hard mode only. So, a better question is "What pug would attempt hard mode in the first place?"
Assumedly, nonheroic difficulty will still be semi-puggable like Ulduar if you do it on Easy Mode.

I agree with your loot/attempt ratios.
Seems like a lot of attempts for one raid. But I do recall wiping on yogg the first night we tried him at least 15-20 times.
But your locked to the instance for a whole week so you can easily make copious amounts of attempts. And since there is 5 bosses, that means you'll have more chances to wipe on each boss. AND given the fact that gearing up will be made fairly easier I think the encounters will be far less forgiving.....equating to more "wipe it up guys, release and get back in here"

i wonder if each death in the group takes one whatever from the chest making it more like an undying/immortal thing...
Green Armadillo Jun 23rd 2009 4:56PM
The 50 may be a placeholder while Blizz tries to figure out what is reasonable. They did the same thing with the Ulduar achievements during the PTR - many were unreasonably long or short until Blizz had an idea of how long it would take on live.
Mordockk Jun 23rd 2009 5:18PM
@green
ya that is most likely the case. we should take details like that with a grain of salt.
Falcom Jun 23rd 2009 7:32PM
do we even know for sure that this will be a resetting counter? Maybe its 50 tribute attempts. Period. One-shot it, or there will just always be gear you can't obtain. That would suck in a way, but how happy would the hardcore crowd be that there is something that takes actual skill to obtain and not just brute force? I personally won't see what's in the chests for these special runs, but its a kinda cool idea.

So they are going to add another holiday right before we finish up "What A Long Strange Trip It's Been", so that we have to wait past the 1 year mark all the way to November to get our Protodrakes? *sigh* I hope they dont add that one to the meta achievement.
immortlone Jun 23rd 2009 5:51PM
you do realize that for death knights, the earliest they can get their drake is november too? this was in fact a very fair move for blizzard, and now everyone can enjoy their drakes at the same time (IF of course, you didn't change mains like me >.< )
Rookwood Jun 23rd 2009 7:03PM
I didn't change mains.
Wyred Jun 24th 2009 3:10AM
A couple of holidays after the most fore-sighted hardcore achievment hunters? That does not seem a huge issue to me.
JDM Jun 26th 2009 8:30AM
I hope they don't add it to the drake achievement either. I just need Brewfest to start, and I'm done with it. Now, I'll still be doing this new holiday's achievements, definitely... But to delay everyone's drake an extra month? Will be some really angry people out there!
