New information found in patch 3.2 achievements

The first patch 3.2 PTR client is now available for download, which means it's available for datamining. The ever-resourceful people at wirebrain have done just this to all the achievements found in the client, and have unearthed some interesting new details. We are unable to verify this information right now, but here's what they've found.
Read on after the cut for:
- A new holiday.
- The names of the bosses in the new raid and 5-man dungeon, and their related achievements.
- A new Vault of Archavon boss.
To be clear, there will be spoilers.
The new holiday is going to be called Pilgrim's Bounty, and is clearly modeled after Thanksgiving. The achievements most revolve around food, and if you do them all, you get a "Pilgrim" title and a turkey pet.
It seems that there is a Bountiful Table at each capitol, with a variety of dishes to enjoy. There are also a number of new recipes to cook, and various side achievements. See the Wirebrain list for more. Finally, there will be daily quests, like many recent holidays have. I'm not seeing any mention of a special boss.
As for the new 5-man dungeon, Trial of the Champion, it looks like it will have a different set of bosses for Horde and Alliance, with each faction apparently fighting the Grand Champions of the other faction.
- Ambrose Boltspark
- Colosos
- Lana Stouthammer
- Marshal Jacob Alerius
- Jaelyne Evensong
- Argent Confessor Paletress
- Eadric the Pure
- The Black Knight
And here's the other:
- Deathstalker Visceri
- Eressea Dawnsinger
- Mokra the Skullcrusher
- Runok Wildmane
- Zul'tore
- Argent Confessor Paletress
- Eadric the Pure
- The Black Knight
It looks like the first set are Alliance NPCs that the Horde fight, and the second set is the reverse. After the faction-specific bosses, there are two Argent-aligned bosses, followed by the Black Knight. All I have to say is I hope there is no jousting in this instance, because that is the most boring combat there is in WoW.
As for the raid instance that we are all looking forward to so much, I see the following bosses listed on the achievement list:
- Gormok the Impaler
- Acidmaw
- Dreadscale
- Icehowl
- Lord Jaraxxus
- Edyis Darkbane
- Fjola Lightbane
- Final Boss
One of those names looks like a placeholder to me, though I can't put my finger on why exactly. This contradicts the "5 bosses" figure we were given for the raid; maybe some of these bosses are randomly selected, like the bosses in Violet Hall.
There is also a reference in the achievements to "twin valkyr," so the Darkbane and Lightbane bosses are probably part of the same encounter. That still leaves us with 7 bosses, though. If Acidmaw, Dreadscale, and Icehowl are part of the same encounter, either all at once, randomly chosen, or as a sort of gauntlet (like the second boss in Utgarde Pinnacle), that would leave us with the proper 5.
As for the other raid achievements, it's hard to derive too much from them. There is one achievement that refers to reaching the Tribute Chest with 50 attempts left in heroic mode, so I would guess that 50 is the number of attempts you start out with.
Finally, the new Vault of Archavon boss will be named Koralon the Flame Watcher.
Interesting stuff! I'm looking forward to seeing more on the PTR.
Patch 3.2 will bring about a new 5, 10, and 25 man instance to WoW, and usher in a new 40-man battleground called the Isle of Conquest. Obviously the PTR is up and running or they wouldn't be able to datamine the information above.
TiM Jun 23rd 2009 4:20PM
Well I believe Eliah's hopes of no jousting are looking bleak. The chivalry ain't dead achievement requires you don't trample anyone, something we do on the mounts.
Dan Jun 23rd 2009 4:20PM
Actually, there might be the jousting combat involved, because one of the achievements "Chivalry Ain't Dead" requires you to not trample anyone.

50 wipes... These things must be like Mimiron hard-mode or something.

For the love to the Crusade, please no more random bosses!
I have ran VH so many times that my hands and eyes might as well be bleeding because I want Lavanthor’s talisman, and have never seen it drop. Fighting the RNG is one thing for a drop but multiplying that by the RNG to even get the boss is the most lazy ass thing the devs could come up with.
VH doesn’t have replayability because of the random bosses, it has just to opposite, you are completely demoralized if you are hoping for one boss of 5 with a loot table of 3 drops and you only get 2 tries a day to get that boss in a heroic lock out.
Doing anything similar on the raid level shows a lack of ingenuity in creating lasting content.

Who's the new VOA boss?
Dunkurk Jun 23rd 2009 4:30PM
Lootavon the giver of loot, enter the inner sanctum of the vault and be rewarded emblems and loot just for zoneing in...

Yeah the thanksgiving like holiday was pretty much known to be coming. mmo-champion reported the turkey pet in the game files with 3.1 data, and both them and ackis have reported the new "thanksgiving" themed cooking recipies.
It is likely a revamping of the harvest festival that is around that time. The few day event where food tables are located outside the cities and you get a quest to go honor uther lightbringer or garrosh depending on what faction you are.
Would be nice if all of us could download the patch instead of just wirebrain but meh i'll just have to wait.
Robert M Jun 23rd 2009 4:28PM
Oh yay, an entire holiday to honor Uther “obi-wan” Lightbringer for his complete ineptness to direct his pupil.
Why don’t we all just get prepared for the confrontation with Arthas where it ends not with a kill but some cheezey scene where the spirit of Arthas, Uther, and Terenas are all ghost like figures who cheer us on into the next expansion…

@Robert M
Holy crap. I'd never drawn that parallel before. Thanks for making me crack up at work, now people think I'm weird :P

Hey look! A human hero goes bad. Blizz is so innovative!
Netherscourge Jun 23rd 2009 4:25PM
SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.....
Is this goign to be lumped in with the "Long Strange Trip..." Meta- Achievements?
Because I really don't feel like waiting another 2 months after Brewfest to get my Proto Drake...

The ptr being up or not has nothing to do with data mining information. It has to do with the data being able to be downloaded, which can happen with the ptr down.
oricus12843 Jun 23rd 2009 4:31PM
Upper Back Pain seems likes it's an amusing achievement. I hope to get some SS's of that.
travislaporte19 Jun 23rd 2009 4:27PM
Cept the data is currently unavailable, as confirmed by a blue post.
travislaporte19 Jun 23rd 2009 4:28PM
Well, the client that is, the data was obviously leaked somehow.
Oops Jun 23rd 2009 4:28PM
Personally, I got a kick out of the "I've had worse" achievement.

"Defeast the Black Knight in 10 minutes while wearing all blue items, before 3 Volcanos erupt, while everyone in the group has at least 1 stack of Spurting Blood and there are no shamans or paladins in the party but before you spend at least 1000 gold in repairs."
