Patch 3.2 PTR data file class changes
Achievements aren't the only thing that can be datamined. MMO-Champion has the new class changes, some of which were not listed in the patch 3.2 PTR notes. Of course these are all subject to change, and some game file changes never even make it to testing, but here's what I've noticed that's new.
- Druid: Restoration: Lifebloom now heals the target for 480/616/776 (down from 600/770/970) when Lifebloom complete its duration or is dispelled.
- Hunter:
- Survival: T.N.T. now affects Black Arrow.
- Pets: Sonic Blast (Bat) now costs 80 Focus.
- Mage:
- Slow Fall now only works on friendly party or raid target.
- Fire:
- Molten Armor now causes 75/150 Fire damage (down from 170/170)
- Burnout now increases the spell's cost on non-periodic spell criticals instead of all criticals.
- Hot Streak now proc from non-periodic spell criticals.
- Ignite now proc from non-periodic critical strikes instead of all critical strikes.
- Frost: Enduring Winter now cannot occur more often than once every 6 sec.
- Paladin:
- Protection: Shield of Righteousness now does high threat (its damage is also reduced in this patch from 130% to 100% of shield block value).
- Retribution:
- The Art of War now reduces the cast time of your next Flash of Light or Exorcism ability by 0.75 sec (down from 1.5 sec) every time your melee attacks critically hit. Edit: this is for rank 1. Rank 2 still decreases by 1.5 sec, making those spells instant. Nothing to see, move along.
- Judgement of the Wise now affects your damaging Judgement spells (Old - All Judgement spells)
- Eye for an Eye now causes 10% (down from 20%) of the damage taken to the attacker as well.
- Priest:
- Levitate now only affects a friendly party or raid target.
- Holy: Holy Concentration now procs from Empowered Renew instead of Renew.
- Rogue: Combat: Combat Potency now affects all off-hand melee attacks (instead of just auto-attacks).
- Shaman: Elemental Oath, Elemental Focus, and Elemental Devastation have all been changed to affect only non-periodic offensive spell crits.
- Warrior: Arms:
- Blood Frenzy now only increases melee attack speed.
- Armored to the Teeth now Increases your attack power by 3 for every 108 armor value you have. (Old - 3 AP every 180 Armor)
Remember, these are just the changes that are in the patch 3.2 PTR data files but not in the official patch 3.2 notes. Many other changes were made; check the patch notes for those.

GC has stated that the Intimidating Shout change isn't something from the class developers, so it might be a change to some random mob's abilities or something that was just being toyed with by a developer.

"Judgement of the Wise now affects your damaging Judgement spells (Old - All Judgement spells)"
I didn't know there were judgements that didn't do damage.
Ver7ig0 Jun 23rd 2009 5:35PM
It means they'll continue to work exactly the same, because judgements already return no mana if they do no damage, or are fully absorbed.
And with disc priests running rampant, there are a LOT of judgements that do no damage.

More nerfs to lifebloom makes me /cry
nathan.bowles Jun 23rd 2009 6:12PM
what do you mean more, that was the original nerf
Thetealone Jun 23rd 2009 10:01PM
Mana cost increased by double was a harsh nerf. Even if it restores 50% mana cost afterwards making it only viable when you have an OoC proc up for free mana. The new nerf is probably because the 'bloom' effect now stacks making it possible for a too huge a crit out of nowhere

Nerfs coming soon, don't worry.

The armoured to the teeth change was in the announced notes. It's also in the Fury tree not Arms ;)
Eliah Hecht Jun 23rd 2009 5:32PM
That's why I put it in the list -- it was listed under Arms, so there's an off chance they're moving the talent to Arms. Doesn't seem likely, but you never know.
Kemikalkadet Jun 23rd 2009 5:39PM
Oh fair enough. I doubt it would be moved to arms though, arms tree is one of the most bloated trees in the game and fury is full of filler. I guess i could see them switching its place withimp. heroic strike however since h. strike is used in the fury rotatoin and not arms now.

damn the art of war nerf...
Burix Jun 23rd 2009 5:47PM
Oh no! You can't instantly heal yourself!

"The Art of War now reduces the cast time of your next Flash of Light or Exorcism ability by 0.75 sec (down from 1.5 sec) every time your melee attacks critically hit."
So they nerf exorcism, then say "no it'll be fine 'cos of Art of War" then nerf Art of War?
/sigh

Art of War was a two point talent before 3.2, and will be after 3.2. So 0.75 x2 is still 1.5 second reduced cast time. So FoL is still instant, and now Exorcism will be as well. The nerf is on the trigger for Art of War. Currently it's any time Judgement, Dive Storm, or Crusader Strike crit. 3.2 changes this to only proc on melee crits. I'm not sure how much of a difference that will make on procs, but I would think Art of War will proc less often now. But at the end of the day, the number of times a ret can exorcise will remain the same since you will always crit before the cooldown for exorcism is up.

The reason for the change to Art of War is a little non-obvious...
Someone pointed out on the forums that you could use a macro like this:
/cast Exorcism
/stopcasting
and just hammer it and it would either cast Exorcism if Art of War was available or do nothing and not interrupt your swing timer. GC responded by saying that they planned to make some kind of change to avoid this, and the fix seems to be to make Art of War reduce the casting time of Exorcism but not make it instant so the macro never does anything. This is consistent with GC's reasoning for giving Exorcism a short cast time in the first place - to give Pallys the additional ranged option, but not greater mobility.

If they mean on auto attacks, or white damage, then yes, it'll proc less.
If they mean on any physical melee attacks, i.e. auto attack, CS, DS, it'll probably be higher, as if you crit every Judgement and auto attack (for arguments sake), you'll get more swings in than Judgements.
If it's not physical, Judgement will be included, as as far as I'm aware it's classed as a physical melee attack that can't be dodged or parried with a 10 yard range.

I still don't understand how this will make Ret Less "bursty" in damage. Ret pallies are criting almost all the time, there's no reason they won't be able to use exorcism at will after their first attack. it's a crit based proc to do yet more damage, how is that reducing the burst? i understand that it could make being Ret "more dynamic". i guess that keeps them from using it as an opener, but that's about it. meanwhile, this makes exorcism almost exclusively a Ret spell. i guess a really bored holy pally could still use it, or prot can use it as a pulling spell like they did avenger shield back in BC. WTF Blizzard, just give Ret a new talented spell, there's hardly anything in the tree anyway and leave Exorcism be. i think it might be the only talent tree that at lvl80 you can take EVERY talent and Still have talent points left over, unless i'm forgetting some talents.
