Breakfast Topic: Did the Patch 3.2 news bring you back to the Tournament?

The fact that the Crusader title and Exalted with the Sunreavers/Silver Covenant are required to take part in the new Argent Tournament solo content is playing a big role in my decision to play through the current dailies again. I stopped doing them just shy of Crusader, with no real intent to go and finish it off. As much as I wanted the title, I really could not bear doing those dailies anymore. One can only joust so much! I'm very much interested in the new content and items though, so with those two goals being the gateways to it, I'm not given much of an option. Crusader or bust. I do not like to bust.
It's still not the most fun I've ever had playing a game, but I'm willing to grin and bear it to get at the Patch 3.2 content. On the bright side, it is really good gold. Not that I need gold after my last stretch of doing these quests, but I suppose gold is eternal. I'll chew through it like bubble gum when the next expansion rolls around.
How about you guys, are you looking forward to Patch 3.2's Argent Tournament content? Did you get sick of the current Tournament content as quickly as I did, or are you in the camp that loves it and has always loved it? If you did get burned out, do you think patch 3.2 will fix the issues you had with it or are you going to wait and see for yourself before making any guesses?
Patch 3.2 will bring about a new 5, 10, and 25 man instance to WoW, and usher in a new 40-man battleground called the Isle of Conquest. No.
For some reason I really can't stand the tournament. Don't know why, I just really dislike it.
Grotetieten Jun 24th 2009 8:13AM
I have to agree. The whole tournament feels so out of place. It just doesn't fit into the whole 'oooooh serious war going on here' theme.

I only did the Argent Tournament stuff for the Pet Squire and the "of Darnassus" title.
After that, I dropped it like a bad habit.
Jousting is mind-numbingly BORING. The mechanics SUCK, the combat SUCKS and it's really stupid to have to chase around a stupid mob for 5 minutes.
I haven't been back to that lousy place since and I really don't care what Blizzard adds to try and drag me back to those terribly-designed dailies.
I also hate the whole vehicle-combat crap the yare trying to shove down our throats.
I'm generally not liking anything Blizzard is doign to the game lately. I haven't even gone back to Ulduar. Al lI do is log in to complete the World Event stuff for the Violet Proto-Drake.
I'm thinking of quitting the game completely after Brewfest. Getting the Violet Proto-Drake will finally be "the end" for me, me thinks. I'll get it, fly around on it for a little bit, realize how meaningless it is and then call it quits.

I think im done with the tournament as well. I didnt enjoy most of the argent dailies (the rest of the icecrown dailies are FAR more fun) and only got a couple factions to champion assuming that would be good enough for whatever came next.
The prospect of grinding out exalted with the other factions does not thrill me in the least. If anything it makes me want to quit the few argent dailies i still do because I know I wont be advancing to the next set.
Kudos to those of you that like / can tolerate that type of grind, its just not for me.

If all you do is stay in melee and hit the guy with a stick, then yes, it will take 5 minutes and it will be boring from day one.
My fastest fight was around 30 seconds I think, without losing more then 10k hp.
Also, seriously, what's with all the vehicle hate ?
And to answer the original question :
Back ? I never left :P

I agree. I gave up on these quests a while ago. I have to admit I'm slightly tempted to resume, but I'm sure I would give up again after a few days.
Blizz has definitely taken repetitive dailies way too far and they need to scale it back considerably.
Yeng Jun 24th 2009 11:18AM
I don't mind them. I especially don't mind the mass amounts of money it brings in when you can complete 2 dailies at a time.

The jousting sucks, even though i want the heirloom chest, i don't think that i'll ever get it. I believe that this will be like doing the occlus. Do it once for the achievement, then never look back.

@Grotetieten - that's my issue with it. It seems like a sideshow having nothing to do with the theme of the expansion at all. In the middle of a serious war I'm going to joust? Go gather wood? Really? The SSO dailies when they first came out were a cool cooperative effort to take back parts of the Isle and in doing so push Kael back and they tied, thematically, into the effort to push KJ back down the Sunwell. The Tournament has no ties to the effort to defeat Arthas and the Scourge. It's just poorly done from a story perspective.

I do my dailies, but I don't really enjoy them. They give good money for the time investment, though. Jousting is super boring and awkward.
Shardrell Jun 24th 2009 8:08AM
I quickly realized I wouldn't be able to stand doing the Tournament dailies, well, daily. I do them casually instead, and always with friends. They're a lot more fun with friends. I don't usually do the jousting at all. Boooooo-ring, and frustrating if you've got some lag.
I'm reserving judgment on the next content patch, though I hope we don't have to play it for too long before Blizz finally starts the main event of this expansion.
theRaptor Jun 24th 2009 8:14AM
Exalted champion of the Horde.
I am really hoping all the effort was worth something more than the current mounts and pets. I mainly did it because you could get 4 dailies done for the effort of 2.

Rather than turning me on to the tournament, the new content runs a serious risk of putting me off endgame entirely.
I didn't like the Tournament. I thought jousting was boring and clunky. I thought that the whole concept of prancing around on pretty horses *in Icecrown* monumentally stupid, and I found the fact that it was supposedly aimed "at casual players" insulting. It seemed to imply that because I didn't have much *time* to play the game, that therefore all I wanted to do with that time was to piss around playing at being a knight.
There is nothing that puts me off a game faster than being forced to do something I don't want to do and did not sign up for. I certainly don't want to have to grind Tournament rep just to access whatever the hell new content is on the other side of it.
Spazmoose Jun 24th 2009 11:23AM
Since when is anything in WoW forced?

I never left it.
I like the quests and I was one of the first on my realm to achieve the Crusader title.
I've also been filling my pockets with the quest rewards and by selling the Horde side pets on the Neutral AH. It's already paid for my Mechano-Hog and I'm halfway to a Traveler's Tundra Mammoth.
rawrawrawr Jun 24th 2009 8:15AM
They were fun for the first few times. I'm a champion of Org and SM, and have started on Sen'jin, but doing the same quests over and over and over again loses it's appeal rather quickly.
Tricia Jun 24th 2009 8:16AM
It totally burned me out. I stopped playing my 80 altogether and started lvling a DK on another realm for fun. After awhile the endless grind of dailies [Argent Tournament and other Icecrown dailies] just got too repetitive and too much like work and my stance has always been when a game feels like work, it's time to play a different game.
Calavera Jun 24th 2009 8:16AM
When it all started I was among the first there to do the dalies and explore the new content, but I stopped pretty quickly after becoming 'of Darnassus', and now I haven't touched the dalies for a real long time.
Tournament was a fun gimmick, but it didn't last in the long run.
I really think that Blizzard took a step back with dalies in Wrath, and I hope that they some day return to the kind of dalies we got in 2.4.
Bob Dewane Jun 24th 2009 9:37AM
Took a step BACK with the dailies in Wrath?!?!?! To me there was NOTHING worse than having to do the QD dailys. Fighting every day for every mob. I don't like jousting too much myself but it beats the pants off of the bombing run through the Dead Scar. Having to run that thing a second or even third time because some other flyboy in the Scar had just iced the mobs i dropped a bomb on drove me mad, ESPECIALLY when you had to take that stupidly long flight back to the dock more than once.
The only reason I stopped doing the dailys was because my alts had built up some decent rest XP while my main did the grind to Champion for 2 factions. I had already done the grind to exalted with the various capitals in order to get their mounts so that part has not been a problem for me. I also felt like, at the time, there wasn't anything worth doing the grind for. The 3.2 announcements changed all that in a hurry. Tomorrow I'll become Champion of my 4th faction and knock out the 5th 5 days later. I think you could even get me back to the QD dailys if the reward was more XP bonus heirloom gear. That stuff makes leveling your alts ridiculously fast. I like playing the different classes (so far) so anything that helps me get them along faster (and into all their cool trainable abilities) gets a huge thumbs up!
So yeah...it's brought me back.
