Exodus scores world first Heroic: Alone in the Darkness
News is flooding in that Exodus of Ysondre-US has just scored the world first 25-man Yogg-Saron with 0 Keepers, a.k.a. Heroic: Alone in the Darkness. A quick look at their site proves it to be true, complete with screenshots.
This achievement, when Ulduar was first launched, was largely considered to be mathematically impossible. One or two nerfs to Yogg-Saron more or less proved that to be true. The recent nerf to the spawnrate of the Guardians of Yogg-Saron wasn't aimed at the encounter with 4 Keepers up. It was aimed at the encounter with few (or zero) Keepers up. Without the buffs those Keepers provide, the encounter gets more and more difficult. As someone who has only killed Yogg-Saron with all 4 Keepers in the last few weeks, I fear seeing the fight with zero. Major, major props to Exodus.
They were rewarded for their efforts withBowser's Flying Machine Mimiron's Head. I guess he didn't need it anymore. Congratulations, Exodus!

No, the nerf to the spawn rate of the Guardians of Yogg-Saron was indeed aimed at 4-keeper Yogg. The (enormous) jump in difficulty from 1-keeper Yogg to 0-keeper Yogg is that you lose Thorim, without whom the Immortal Guardians in phase 3 cannot be killed. The Guardians of Yogg-Saron are the mobs that spawn during the cloud phase, at the start of the fight. Nerfing their spawn rate had little to no effect on guilds that were working on 0-keeper Yogg -- I can assure you they weren't having problems with phase 1.

That is very interesting! That was my first thought on the nerf, but I was convinced otherwise by some raiders I talk to that are doing him with 1 Keeper. Their issue was that without Thorim, you couldn't keep up with the Phase 1 spawns. Maybe they were just cutting down on Keepers in the wrong order?
I'd be very interested to see what Exodus has to say about the fight.

@Alex
The only effect that Thorim has on Phase 1 is the 10% damage buff that he (along with all the other watchers) gives to the raid. I'd be very surprised to learn that a guild working on 1- or 0-keeper Yogg was having trouble not killing the phase 1 Guardians fast enough to keep up with the spawns. Perhaps there was a miscommunication with the raiders you spoke to?

This is true. The only difference from 1-light and 0-light is P3, the other phases remain largely unchanged with the exception of buff loss. If you're working 0-light, though, you're DPS is going to be good enough such that you won't have any problem getting the Guardians down in a timely fashion, nerf or no nerf.

What, you mean Ensidia has disbanded and created a ew guild called Exodus ?
Draenors Jun 26th 2009 7:33AM
Exodus is another top-raiding guild.

Mmm, I wonder how many downgraded my question because they didn't realise my comment was tongue in cheek... ?

GZ guys, job well done - even more amazing is that we've not seen any QQer's on theis post so for - awesome :)

screen shot of zero keeper yogg on their website+mmo-champion says:
heroic: alone in the darkness: 6 / 25 / 09
realm first! deaths demise: 6 / 26 / 09
hmmmmmm, seems alittle odd dont u think?
got to love typo's and photoshoped SS's.
checking the guild via armory reveals that those who have it, have 6 / 26 / 09 timestamped.

Your right! Evryone does live in the same time zone after all....
Celeane Jun 26th 2009 7:33AM
I fairly frequently have achievements pop up with the next day's date in them, even though my server is in my time zone.
Congrats, Exodus.
rawk1977 Jun 26th 2009 4:42AM
gz guys, i dont mean the guild, although they deserve it, but gratz to all comments :)

Grats Exodus.
But reading through the forums on your front page almost all your members come off as complete jerks. You might want to move the asshattery off the front page, as you come off seeming like people with very few social skills.
Anywho, good luck in the future.
Magma Jun 26th 2009 5:53AM
Wow, seriously. Talk about giant fucking douchebags. Get out more please.
jam Jun 26th 2009 7:17AM
Indeed. People can bash Ensidia as much as they want (because apparently it's a popular thing to do), but at least they make the effort to create a nice community for WoW players. Their site is actually pretty refreshing, with blogs, Q&A and its generally positive attitude.
That's quite a big difference compared to certain other guilds *cough* whose websites make them look like women hating 15-years old kids.
Grats, anyway.
Kinroc Jun 26th 2009 7:41AM
These guys raid seven days a week for about 10 hours+. I'd be very surprised if they've ever met another human being, let alone hang around with any long enough to develop any social skills.
Phun Jun 26th 2009 8:19AM
Perhaps worth pointing out that this is a social game and if they do indeed raid 7 days a week for 10 hours a day, that means they actually speak to other humans 7 days a week for 10 hours a day.
That doesn't mean they can't be pricks however. But grats to them, I'll never do it, so more power to them.
vpande Jun 26th 2009 8:56AM
Why do you care if they're jerks or not? Everyone plays the game differently, and they're not playing to please others. They're playing to become the top raiding guilds in the world. You can dislike their guild and their players, but that really has nothing to do with what they have accomplished here.
You may not like them, but they worked for this and the congrats are well-deserved.
Also, if you guys read their front page, you'd have noticed that they raid 10 hours only on Tuesdays and they pick up whatever they don't finish on Wednesday. After that, they're done for the week with exception to PROGRESSION where they raid a lot more. Which semi-raiding guild isn't raiding a lot more because of progression? How's that different from anyone else?
Chill with the socially inept comments. There are a ton of people who raid AND can have a life. Try to hold back on that judgmental attitude. You guys don't come off as the better people here.
Izzy Jun 29th 2009 8:59AM
Because there are already enough asshat players to go around. We don't need more. It is a game and just because they rock at it, doen't mean they should be pricks to everyone else who isn't on disability or summer break playing 70 hours a week.
Rai Jun 26th 2009 7:53AM
I've very much speechless about the graphics. Me wants the flying head so bad :(
