Mimiron hard mode nerfed
We've been seeing sporadic reports today that the Mimiron hard mode was nerfed via hotfix at some point during the night, and it appears those reports were correct. Bornakk just posted in the "recent in-game fixes" thread that the following changes were made to the hard mode of Ulduar's ingenious keeper:
- Flame damage reduced.
- Damage/health gained from Emergency Mode reduced slightly.
- Range of Emergency Fire Bot's Deafening Siren reduced in heroic; no longer cast on normal.
- Damage from Heat Wave in phase 2 reduced.
- Damage from Plasma Blast in phase 1 reduced.
That's a pretty wide array of nerfs. I haven't tried the hard mode - my guild is still working on getting the normal mode down consistently. I do love the fight on normal, though; it's not easy, but it is super-fun.
Hard-mode raiders, what do you think? Does this fall in the category of "why would you nerf a hard mode," or was he simply ridiculous before?

What really needs to be nerfed is whining about people whining when they aren't even whining.
Look through the comments, most of the people here are agreeing with the changes.

Heh. Yeng is right. Apparently, the nerf whiners were hotfixed last night, too. Whining whiners are next.

I can. Mimiron in hard mode was ridiculously hard, requiring raid stacking and extraordinary coordination well above and beyond the standard set by the rest of the hard modes in the dungeon. It took us weeks to get him down and we decided to never do it again. Hard modes are supposed to be something that is actually farmable if you're good enough and not something that feels more like sticking your dick in a meat grinder for weeks on end. Now that he's nerfed, we may try it again and see if we can get those awesome plate wrists to drop.
Hey, guess what, guys? Mimiron isn't supposed to be as hard as M'uru was. You're still two raids away from that level of difficulty. You can bitch about hard modes not being hard enough for you when we're talking about Icecrown. You didn't jump straight from Kara to Sunwell without going through some other difficulty levels along the way, and you're not going to do it in this expansion either.

Bah. Comment system fails again. Replying to Feinel, above.
"You can't say "ridiculous" and "hard mode" in one sentence. "

yea one of the better nerfs.
my guild went into 10man uld we took out every single hardmode with our A team in less than 3 attempts each, got to mimiron and holy.... crap we could not make it pass phase 1................ all of the other hardmodes were a joke compared to this one... tanks get bent over by the beam in phase 1 through cooldowns...
good nerf.

It seems Blizz wants some more people to get the drakes before they take them out. Nerfing Mimiron Yogg a little while ago.. The only 2 fights holding my guild back from their rusted protos
kryonik Jun 25th 2009 3:21PM
The only people whining in this thread are the people complaining about other people's e-peens. Ironic.

Those nerfs were needed. Mimiron hard mode was a little rediculous
Nasgul Jun 25th 2009 3:51PM
Just unfair. I mean don't get me wrong, I have yet to clear Ulduar on ten man normal mode, but this is ridiculous. Way to cater to the casuals Blizz, now every noob in Dalaran is gonna be parked on their Uld drakes talking about how epic they are. Mimiron was a fair fight, and anyone who doesn't think so can take their pathetic, shriveled little E-peen and go play Hello Kitty. Me, I'm moving on after this latest nerf to a game that truly caters to the hardcore like myself. Wii Fit.
So long Warcraft, it was nice knowing you. (Sorry guys, it just didn't feel right without a little elitist whining from someone particularly unqualified to do it.)
Noscy Jun 25th 2009 7:47PM
LOL WII Fit, Once in 3.2 the Wii fit board will be usable in WOW. Can you imagine the possibilities!!!
Gormakr Jun 26th 2009 10:17AM
@Nasgul,
Did you just say that you haven't cleared Ulduar on normal mode?
And then did you say that you were a hardcore player?
Maybe I misunderstood. I hope so.
QQinsider Jun 26th 2009 9:46PM
Lol. You haven't beaten Ulduar yet on normal and you think you're hardcore? Only in your own mind.

This was one of the hardest encounters in the game. Prior to the nerf there were under 100 guilds on wowprogress/guildox who had it in 10p and under 40 in 25p. Many of those guilds had gotten Algalon down too, so even he was far easier than his pre-requisite. Pretty agreeable nerf, especially since they’re looking to remove the drakes close after the release of 3.2. We all needed SOME time left over to work on One Light.
“Catering to the casuals” comments clearly haven’t spent any time on Firefighter.
BTW WOW.COM, please consider running comments through a regular expression: s/\x3C/</g and s/\x3E/>/g

Agree with the expressions comment at the bottom - I had the same thing happen to me, where a "less than" sign kept cutting my messages off!

We went in there for the first time last night and killed it within 3 hours.
As soon as our rogue figured out how o bring the head down in phase 3 twice in a row (he is bad) we downed it within half an hour.
At first it surprised us. We were running through the fire with almost no problems...(If you jump through the fire you can actually avoid it most of the time)
Our kill time was 9:50 so the HP nerf helped us a little too. We went with 3 healers and not a very synergized group.
We should be getting our drakes within a couple of weeks...just a matter of getting everybody online.

Please tell me you're not really that dense. Please. Here's a hint:
sar⋅casm
–noun
1.harsh or bitter derision or irony.
2.a sharply ironical taunt; sneering or cutting remark
I wept a bit for humanity after reading those second two replies. Next week: Irony! I berate everyone for playing too many video games on a website dedicated to video games! (By the way, that was sarcask as well. Just thought I'd point that out for you.)
