Multiboxing.tv lets you watch multiboxing as it happens
Our old friend Tim Sullivan, who worked at Wowhead way back in the day, just sent along a note that he's working on a brand new web video series all about something in World of Warcraft that's been gaining a lot of ground lately: multiboxing. Thanks to recruit-a-friend and all of the bonuses that come along with sponsoring a second account, quite a few people have shown an interest in running more than one character in the game, and Tim's series, called Multiboxing.tv, shows live feeds from his gameplay (all five screens of it, four Hunters and one Priest) while people can chat and learn live about multiboxing and how it all works. He's also leveling the group up -- they're currently around level 40, and he says he's headed to 80 eventually. You can check out his front page to see when he'll be streaming next (and someone told us he was streaming for something like fourteen hours the other day -- take care of yourself, Tim!), and if you're interested in how you might get started multiboxing, he and his chat channel are probably more than happy to help you figure out how to do it. He did say he'd be streaming every night this weekend, so if you're around then, you should be able to catch him. Personally (as you probably already know), I'm a big fan of the standard one character gameplay -- I have enough trouble figuring out one toon, much less five. But Turpster, as you've probably heard on our podcast, has dived into this kind of stuff headfirst and loves it, so if you're interested in seeing how it works, tune in to Tim's channel and find out.
Update: Apparently while this was presented to us (and appears to be) just a guy streaming his multiboxing, Tim may have some less generous motives -- he's apparently trying to sell multiboxing software, and you can see the comments below for some other shady moves that have been made. Watch at your own risk, and keep in mind that while the stream appeared legit to us, it may be an advertisement for software you certainly don't need to multibox.

He only plugs his software when he is asked about it and even then he doesn't tell you to go out and buy it. He always says that if you want to use other methods (software, hardware etc.) then use what's best for you.

I'm watching now and this is great it is really cool to see how much goes into this. And no he is not advertising if anyone asks him what he is using he answers after that it is nothing but instructional. I will never be able to do it as he states he spent about 4-5k to do what he is doing now.

Awesome Stream Tim. Was a blast to watch at work lol.
Makes me wanna spend the extra 15/mo and go for it!
bswopes Jun 26th 2009 4:59PM
slick. was always interested to see more multiboxing videos, and actually doing it live with a chat going is pretty cool.
Justin Jun 26th 2009 4:59PM
Come on give the guy are break, he just wants to help people learn how to multi-box and he is just doing this for fun. Its a great thing and great enjoyment.

I'm not saying he's trying to sell you anything off the live stream, I'm just giving background information. You can think I'm wrong all you want. He can trash me all he wants, he's just angry he doesn't get to advertise all over d-b.

Watching the stream right now...
He isn't plugging his software, he is basically just answering questions people in chat are asking about multiboxing (without fears of getting flamed) and really he does say "Buy my software! Its elite!" Anytime he is talking about his software is because people ask... heck, the guy even explained his setup, macros, talent specs for characters, etc..
Anywho say that he is plugging his software and want a cheap $20 a month is just jealous..
Christoffer Jun 26th 2009 5:07PM
*really he doesn't*
Bad typo.. lol

I think you need to rephrase your 'update' section of the article and change some wording around.
I have been watching this stream for over half an hour, its really fun to watch and he's barely even plugged his software. He's mostly just talking about the game and just general tips and macros for multi-boxing. The only time he has mentioned his software is when people ask about it.l

Tim seems nice, game smart, and helpful. Couldn't care less that he is selling his product. More power to him.
Nick Jun 26th 2009 5:13PM
Mike,
I would update your post he is in NO WAY trying to sell anything.
This video is amazing and Tim is really cool guy and very informative. This is just informational he is answering questions as he mulitboxes on wow. it is actually very cool.
Calen Jun 26th 2009 5:32PM
I don't really care. Ad or not, it's still pretty damn cool. How about you remove the update, cause that update is kinda shameless in my eyes. Him selling the program or not, or him just talking about it every now and then shouldn't be an issue, considering the opportunity of seeing MB'ing in action...
That's my opinion atleast.
Trevor Jun 26th 2009 5:57PM
He is absolutely amazing and doing a very good job at answering everyone's questions. He is in no way advertising any of his products and only shows and talks about it when asked. I will continue to watch his trek to 80 and beyond as he's doing a great job :)
Judas Jun 26th 2009 5:35PM
I agree with the other people who state that the disclaimer should be removed. It is unnecessary. Also, your wording makes him sound like he is doing something wrong or that people should be wary. That is not the case, there are just some people who don't like him...
Laughtrey Jun 26th 2009 5:42PM
You guys should be more careful, this is in no way an advertisement. He's waaay more focused on Multiboxing than advertising his software, I didn't even know it was the software dev playing. Watch the stream, no reason for the warning, this is very interesting.

The one thing more boring than me leveling an alt? Watching some other guy level his alts.
The one thing more annoying than working at leveling an alt? Watching some other guy level more than one alt at once with the same amount of work.
Multiboxers are a fad, and a sketchy one at that.
Laughtrey Jun 26th 2009 5:58PM
are you kidding? multiboxing has been around since UO. 1998. That's quite a fad.
Ekkosangen Jun 26th 2009 5:59PM
From what I've read about the whole fiasco, it seems like what's been done has been a reaction to what he's done. A mass PM advertisement on the dual-boxing.com site, not to mention reports of spoofing emails to further advertise the software. That would be why he was banned from the site, which is completely reasonable--It's against the forum rules. Solid ICE Technologies pays to advertise KeyClone on the dual-boxing.com site, and the company/program seems to be well-accepted by the community.
As well, there was a lot of edit warring on WoWWiki's multiboxing article (the application and removal of links, on both sides I might add). Reading through the edits, it just seems that the Pwnboxer links were just plastered wherever it might have been relevant. I skimmed over a lot of it, but it seems like he might have been stretching the truth through the article as well. I'm not sure on this, so I'll give him the benefit of the doubt and only ridicule the blatant plugging.
The stream is entertaining for sure, you get to see multiboxing in action, he answers questions out of the chat channel, and everyone's having a bit of fun. The software looks solid (though I don't approve of the subscription-based plan when there's possible home-phoning involved, ESPECIALLY when keystrokes are involved), but I don't see anything new or amazing.

This is a cool show

i have no problem with people making accusations of this "tim" person, but if you are going to just throw out stories and accuse him of something you better have evidence to back it up. You can accuse him of spamming people with such emails of his product, im not saying the accusations are false... but you actually need some evidence such as screen shots, email and formal complaints from someone else other than admins from a competing multi-boxing website
i have nothing against anyone who is creating accusations against this "tim" person, but with only words and no factual hard evidence, all im reading is misguided accusations. Until someone actually provides some evidence, the accusations are false and misguided.
