The Queue: The holy cow it's a crab edition

Half of our questions today are actually about WoW.com rather than... you know, WoW itself. Which is odd, but am I going to complain? Not really! It means you guys care, and that makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. Well, I guess that could be food poisoning. My crab rangoons were a little odd last night. Oddly delicious.
Of course, if you don't really give a hoot about the inner workings of WoW.com and strictly want questions about the game, the other half of our questions cover that, so we have things for you, too. Read on!
brasilnut13 asked...
"Do you think Blizz will ever put class related titles in the game?"
I like to think that they would, because they were very close to doing it for Wrath of the Lich King. Problem was, they chose a fairly poor implementation for it so they scrapped it. They gave you a title for hitting level 80 first on your server, according to your race and class. So for example, the server first level 80 Priest would get the title of Prophet. If they were also the server first Human, they would gain the title of Lion Hearted. They were all really awesome titles, but the way they were being given out was just silly. I can't say for sure they will bring them back in some way, but I like to think that they will.
Bringing those titles back in a much easier to acquire capacity would be awesome.
Remen asked...
"Are you guys going to bring back the Build Shop column?"
Maybe, maybe not. It's not a column we've talked about very much recently. When there are big sweeping changes to talent trees that justify a column dedicated to talent builds, a good place for them is probably in their respective class columns. If players aren't looking for cookie cutter builds (which should be found somewhere on our site already), they probably should tailor them to their own purposes, rather than us cobbling together odd and quirky things just for the sake of cobbling together odd and quirky things.
That being said, it might come back one day. If we think there's a gap in our content that we can fill, we'll always try to fill it. We have no plans for it right this second, but that could easily change. We might change our minds about it tomorrow. Who knows?
Everyone that has ever existed asked...
"What every happened to that Turpen guy?"
Patch 3.2 happened. I still plan to do Choose My Adventure and get Turpen to level 80, but all of the patch 3.2 news derailed me. When patch-related things roll around, I tend to not play much WoW unless it's the PTR. So I haven't had a ton of time to actually level a character recently, I've been doing a lot of other work. Alts are pretty low priority right now, even ones that I'm supposed to be writing about.
That being said, Turpen is level 35 and has been for awhile, so you'll see an update in the near future. The process has just slowed significantly for the last couple of weeks, and will probably continue to be slow for a couple more.
Lorsty asked...
"What are the chances of having Mr. Garrosh "I hate everyone rawr, rawr, rawr" Hellscream being the mysterious final boss in the Coliseum? I mean, before WotLK was released he actually dueled Thrall, the very leader of the Horde, because Thrall didn't want to go all-war with the Alliance. Then the Lich King interrupted them, blah, blah. Oh great ones, in all your might and glory, do you think it's a possibility?"
I don't want to slamdunk spoilers all up in yo' grill, but no, it's not Garrosh. At least not in the raid. Garrosh is at the Tournament on the PTR, though. Garrosh, Thrall, Varian, and Jaina are all in attendance. What are they doing there? We have no idea. They might participate in the tournament, but none of them are the last boss of the raid. Well, probably. I guess we don't really know, but we're like 99% sure.
MOPAP asked...
"Do we know what the cost of buying the new 3.2 Jewelcrafting designs are going to be?"
The epic cuts seem to cost 5 tokens each, and there are a lot of cuts. If you're in a big guild, especially a raiding guild, I would consider coordinating purchases among your Jewelcrafters to maximize which cuts you have available. Unless you've been stockpiling your Dalaran Jewelcrafter's Tokens, of course. Then do whatever you want!
dfsnow asked...
"Despite the urging of my guildies, I just can't make myself do the Argent Crusade quests. First, I suck at jousting, and second, I find them boring. I could handle one or the other, but not both. So here's my question: is there any raid or instance that I will miss out on if I don't do this grind? It's clear that the new stuff is related lore-wise, but I want to make sure I'm not screwing myself out of something that is game-related, such as keys or such."
As far as I know, you won't get locked out of the new instance/raid for not having Crusader or whatever else. You're fine there. You will get locked out of some items and quests, though. You need the Crusader title to access some of the new items from the Argent Tournament, and you need Exalted with the Sunreavers (or Silver Covenant if you're Horde Alliance, silly typos) to access a set of new daily quests. Both of those things are gained through the Tournament dailies. I just sucked it up and pushed for Exalted and Crusader for those two goals, so you might want to consider doing the same.
If you don't care about the new quests or new items, don't worry about it. If you want them, time to joust.

I've been trying to start a "Down With Karatechop" campaign for a few days now. So far, to no avail. :(
"Have you ever wanted to one-shot an entire raid insta..." "SHUT THE HELL UP!"
Glaras Jun 26th 2009 12:42PM
And lose the link to the Karatechop stories. It's old news, can't be done anymore, shouldn't have been done in the first place. Stop immortalizing the guy. He's not worth it.
Just replace it with something else. **Anything else.**

Word. I already asked for this a couple of q's ago, but to no avail.

I've been leveling an alt (Troll Hunter) recently and decided to go mining/engineering, mostly for the bow/gun enchants and the like. I just leveled engineering to 200 and decided to go grab my Goblin Engineering membership. While doing the quest for membership I realized that the Alliance have Gnomes as a playable class, but how come the Horde doesn't have Goblins? In fact, Alliance has two "small people" races (Gnomes and Dwarves). Any chance the Horde will ever get Goblins or anything smaller than the Forsaken? I think Goblins would be cool, or dare I say, Murlocs as playable races.
Mordockk Jun 26th 2009 11:42AM
New playable races will be goblins for the horde and kurenai for the alliance. And there will be a new hero class....a face-roll healer/vampire.
splodesondeath Jun 26th 2009 11:39AM
Actually, the fact that the Alliance has the puntable dwarves and the crunchable culinary additive (also known as the gnome) is the biggest reason why the Horde WON'T get goblins.
Along with goblins being relatively neutral on most occasions (they sided with the Horde temporarily in the Second War, but realized it was a bad idea after and the trade prince in charge cut ties), they are MUCH too similar to gnomes for implementation as a race. They're just too similar. Also, relations with many goblin trade cartels is less than picturesque: look at the tauren/shaman in general and how they are upset with the Venture Co.
Murlocs? Not enough, pure and simple. There are 30 to 40 murlocs in each "settlement" that they have. They are relatively unintelligent, have a very simple language, and the Forsaken and Blood Elves kill quite a few in Tirisfal, Eversong and Ghostlands.
Races that look good for playable characters: Furbolgs for the Alliance, and (with some retconning and light lore changes) Ogres for the Horde.
thebitterfig Jun 26th 2009 5:17PM
@ splodesondeath: i'd say goblins are as plausible a player race for the horde as anything. sure, the horde has a bad relationship with the Venture Co., but who doesn't? the horde also has a bad relationship with the blackrock orcs. and the many, many trolls out there who hate everything, despite the darkspear being part of the horde. i think you are making the mistake of thinking that goblins as a player race means that all goblins would join the horde. goblins as horde-playable could easily represent just one smallish faction of goblins, and it wouldn't be too odd, considering the fact that the alliance don't get free rides on any goblin zeps. basically, the politics doesn't seem to me to be a likely reason why goblins wouldn't be made playable.
the biggest reasons against gobbos would be, as you state, high similarity to gnomes. engineering, for example, and the fact that the most likely classes for a goblin race would be mage, warlock, warrior, rogue, and DK...
i don't see ogres a horde playable race, mainly due to them basically being bigger, dumber orcs. furbolgs make sense as the most for a next alliance race, despite the fact that almost every furbolg in the game is hostile to the alliance. of course, i'd still expect alliance furbolgs to have to grind timbermaw rep if they want into the tunnel.
///
as to next hero class? my suggestion would be one who wears leather, uses energy and combo points to either heal or dps with a wand. basically, a cross between a rogue and a priest (talent trees: wand-combat, healer, old disc-like pvp). they'd want caster leather for healing, and rogue/feral leather for dps. stats like int and spirit could still be useful despite not having mana if bliz added skills to help them scale with core healer stats (like how strength adds parry for dks). i'd start them at level 1, but include lots of class quests to to make sure they always have good wands available, and with tons of experience. i think people wouldn't mind revisiting old content with a totally new class if it went fast enough.
Fausts Jun 26th 2009 12:25PM
lol. You can't be serious. You could not have possibly gone all that time without noticing Alliance gnomes, and feeling the sudden urge to punt them or slow roast them. Obviously what you meant is that is suddenly occurred to you.
You may be new to the Horde, but you might find that most of us really feel that "short" races are more a Alliance thing. Just like pet Tribbles are a Federation thing and not at all popular with Klingons. It's bad enough we have elves.
From a game balance stand point, I really believe Blizzard intends to maintain a neutral race distinctively different in appearance to handle cross-faction commerce. The goblin thing has been brought up a few times:

With the implementation of fist weapons, I wouldn't be surprised if we saw the addition of a new uber-elite hero class that doesn't wear clothes and is more like a Monk. What would that look like? I only have one word: Koboooollld!

Murloc Death Knights...god help us...

Most of those arguments work against trolls too. Very few in each settlement(even less non-hostile ones too), mostly feral and unintelligent, very simple language, and the Dwarves and Blood Elves kill quite a few in Dun Morogh, Eversong and Ghostlands.
impurezero Jun 26th 2009 1:52PM
@splodes:
Since when has it been that everyone in a race/class must be good or bad? I just ran a druid through WC last night. Halfway, though, it occured to me, "Don't you feel bad about killing all these druids?"
"Nah...these are the evil druids," was her answer.
Hell...as a human, I've killed all kinds of humans. Defias, Bloodsails, etc. In other words...who cares if Taurens don't like the Venture Co.? Neither do the Goblins in Ratchet, quite frankly.
Murlocs aren't an option because they're dumb? Well, just remember that those idiot troggs were just the first attempts at making dwarves. Why can't there be some more evolved version of a Murloc out there in the Maelstrom? All it takes is a cool plot based initial questline like the DK starting zone to explain away any lore issues.
I'm not trying to suggest that these are actually going to be new races...I just don't think you're specific reasons against the idea are all that valid.
pantear Jun 26th 2009 3:20PM
Horde has two small people races in Forsaken and Blood Elves. One can't even be warriors because they can't be true warriors (but I'm starting to think that might be because it might scrape their nail polish).
henro Jun 26th 2009 11:20AM
What's the longest known /played?
Nookni Jun 26th 2009 11:22AM
I am sure it works the same for Champion jousting, but as a Valient, my poor jousting skills are helped by having some of my guildmates join me. They can not be mounted and attack while you are jousting, but if they stand and PewPew/fireball/Smite the opponent while you joust them, they are able to do damage and help you defeat them. The damage is reduced, so your raid-geared mages won't be fireballing for more than a few hundred, but every little bit helps, and can make up for my own lack of jousting talent.
Of cours,e it's only fair to help them out afterwards when they take a turn with their lances. :)
Laynne Jun 26th 2009 11:31AM
This is definately the best way if you can't do it alone. For the life of me, I can't kill champions. I avoid the daily where you have to beat 4, but in order to champion cities I get help from a friend to kill the single one. If you break down their armour with shield break and charge, they take signifigantly more damage.
