Video of new Tauren Druid forms in patch 3.2
Hail and well met, Druid colleagues. I ventured into the scary realm of moviemaking in order to capture the new Druid forms on the PTR. Because my Hordeside main copied over first, we'll take care of the Tauren initially. The Night Elf video is in progress, and I've been told that Blizzard fixed the bug where one of the NE bear forms wasn't properly linked to a hair color, so stay tuned.
Anyway, this is my first video and I apologize for the amateurish quality; I'll get better (though not necessarily less dorky) with practice, but I really wanted to get this out for everyone who can't get on the PTR but wants to see what the new forms look like in motion. If you can't run sound at the moment, the only really pertinent commentary is that: a). The forms are beautiful: b). They look great in motion: c). For whatever reason, the bear butt has actually grown, and: d). The Night Elf video is on its way.
If you're having issues with Viddler, you can find the same video (in slightly higher quality) here on YouTube.

That popping right-leg jiggle has been on the old forms as long as I can remember. At least in Night Elf bear, that is.

Allison, first off it is nice to see you, Daniel and Mike on Zangarmarsh with Robin during the Blog's Midsummer event. :D
Secondly, great video even if it was your first time. I genuinely enjoyed seeing the new Tauren Cat and Bear forms that you modeled for the vid. I especially enjoyed the Bear and Cat dancing, it brings back nice memories.
And you are correct, I did notice the similarities with the "transfer" as it were, with the Bear and Cat mount backsides used for the new forms. It looks better in that fashion than the previous (current) model.
And when you do the Night Elf Bear and Cat forms, you should have them wave to the camera, hehe.. And/or have both Elf and Tauren forms wave to the camera! :)
I also noticed 1 other thing, Tauren bears have very white teeth, they must brush every day.. :P
Thank you again Allison, you are awesome.

You did a great job! Thank you for sharing. 10/10 A+++++ buyer.
I too thought the black would be most popular. I'm gonna stick with my greybear whitecat form.
Thanks again!
Ive said it before, I'll say it again. I WANT MY MOONKIN TO BE TIE DYED OR POLKA DOTTED! or Leisure Suit!! Yeah! Heck with natural.

To the video creator:
You have a very nice voice, you speak clearly, your video is clear, your ui seems uncluttered, you showcased some cool things, and I would say overall this is an excellent first video. I don't know much about them but I watch alot and this was not halfbad at all. I would watch more in the future from you for sure.

Amazingly annoying that in very damn screenshot or video, Allison insists on showing off her Black Proto Drake or Anzu mount. And I don't base this complaint on jealousy if that's what you might think - I also have the Black Proto Drake and the ZG tiger mount on my druid, but it's just so unnecessary in a subtle "LOOK AT ME, I'M BETTER THAN YOU"-way.
Tilt Jun 28th 2009 5:22PM
Yeah, I had that thought. Could have shaved, what, 30 seconds off that video rather than hurr durr black protodrake. Instead you could have used that time to show the bug with cat form weapons. But it's more important to epeen, I guess.
Dightkuz Jun 28th 2009 7:52PM
Not a big surprise that the Allison-fanbois would react. Today it was by downrating my comment, and no comments as to why. Impressive!
Vernier of Bladefist Jun 28th 2009 9:55PM
Yeah, totally. I can't stand people who feel proud of their in-game achievements.
Allison Robert Jun 29th 2009 1:11AM
I do use these mounts ingame frequently, and they will show up from time to time when I take screenshots that are interesting or relevant to an article. The black drake is great for long-distance flights as it's slightly faster than flight form, and I adore Anzu (the farming of whom I've discussed in both "Shifting" and a Breakfast Topic; any Druid with halfway decent blues and a little strategy at 80 can manage it).
I'm genuinely sorry if this offends you, because my intent is not to convey any sense of elitism. With that said, of the 600+ images I've uploaded to WoW.com during my tenure, 4 consist of my black drake photos (and I think an additional 2 are of other people on my realm who have them), so for the moment, I'm not overly worried about their frequency.

Sorry I have to say it Allison... More vids with your sexy voice in the backround. ;-)
Matthew Jun 28th 2009 5:48PM
I actually like how you took us from shat to org, it was a nice intro.
Moy Jun 28th 2009 5:50PM
I like the bigger butts, just more druid to hug! (I can't go past a druid in form without hugging it)
Toranus Jun 28th 2009 5:59PM
What is the command mount special she speaks of?
Delshay Dethecus US Jun 28th 2009 7:15PM
When you press the Spacebar.
Allison Robert Jun 28th 2009 8:24PM
While mounted (and, on a flying mount, grounded), type (or macro) the command /mountspecial, and the mount will do its special animation. For Druids in flight form, it's a wonderful little barrel roll; for other mounts, it's a roar, or a rear, or a snarl, any of a number of things. While /mountspecial currently works with the Cat forms on live, it produces a hilarious stiff-posture Cat. Try it. :)
Toranus Jun 28th 2009 11:03PM
LOL that is pretty stiff for a cat. Thanks Allison. Looking forward to the NE vid
Ezkialrage Jun 28th 2009 6:43PM
Video copilot intro ftw!
Delshay Dethecus US Jun 28th 2009 7:15PM
Allison,
Thank you so much for taking the time to make this video. I am looking forward to your next guide and movies. Again thanks for all you do for us druids!
MazokuRanma Jun 28th 2009 7:57PM
Wow, I don't have a druid, but those tauren cat forms are so much of an improvement that saying they can't be measured seems spot on. That model went from my most reviled to most impressed.
As for the video, you seem to have done a good job overall. My only complaint was the volume was a little low (And I have the volume on my computer pretty high overall). I've also seen complaints about length, but the video has a slider bar, so that seems unimportant. Overall, you communicated what you wanted to get across sufficiently for me. Looking forward to seeing the next one.
Aubrecia Jun 28th 2009 8:07PM
Holy crap.
I have to agree with you, here. My reluctance over Tauren cat is gone. That looks absolutely amazing in motion and I love it. Even if the animations are the same, it looks so much more natural in motion than the current.
