New Spirit Beast pet found
Hunters, patch 3.2 also means a new spirit beast for you to obsessively tame. Once again Mania's Arcania proves itself to be the go-to site for information about new pets. Since I know I'm going to be spending a lot of time wandering around looking for this new pet model, here's the skinny: there will be a new spirit beast in patch 3.2, it's name is Skoll and unlike the current spirit beasts Loque'nahak and Gondria, this one uses a saberworg model (the new Northrend worg model introduced in Wrath of the Lich King). It's still a spirit beast with prowl and spirit strike.
All we know so far is that it is apparently a non-hostile tameable mob when you first encounter it and that you'll need to comb the Storm Peaks Snowdrift Plains for a chance to tame it. All I can say is good luck, you obsessive pet collectors, and even better luck to those of us who know one. I predict a lot of time spent taming things in the snow.

Thank God I'm not a Hunter. I've got enough collectible crap to obsess about in WoW already. I might just go insane if I had to worry about taming rare spawns, too.

WOW!! That is VERY nice. My hunter was content with just using normal pets (he is a non raider, so its not very important to him) but I might have to pick up a spirit beast now...i like this look better than the other ones!

This wolf -right now- is like taming Gondria or Loque. Same abilities and NO Furious Howl. It's a cat with a wolf skin.

"It's a cat with a wolf skin."
No... It's a Spirit Beast actually.

This makes me happy, but at the same time sad/angry that blizz removed the original spirit wolf when I was getting the matts required together. D:

That thump you just heard was another hunter hitting the ground after reading the above. Including myself. =P

Finally! I was hoping for a wolf skin!
I know beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but IMO, Loque'nahak was butt ugly.
Gondria was a step in a better direction.
And this takes that better direction even further!

That's ironic. My first wolf pet in Wrath of the Lich King was Cavedweller Worg named Sköll. I guess I'll be hunting for a new name.
Sköll, btw, is the name of one of the sons of Fenrir in Norse mythology.

great.. ANOTHER thing to farm in storm peaks
bswopes Jun 29th 2009 6:33PM
Well, no furious howl means no need for me to tame it. I'll stick with gondria and my ugly ass worg from storm peaks (it was 80 already).
Quark1020 Jun 29th 2009 6:40PM
Thats actually a pretty cool looking wolf.
Mopo Jun 29th 2009 7:12PM
I have the original Spirit Wolf and happy I got mine before they made it so you are not able to tame it. I am still pissed at Blizzard that they reduced Broken Tooth to a normal cat... I spent way too much time trying to find and tame that bad boy.

SWEET I cant wait to kill it in Storm peaks and piss off another Hunter.

I don't get excited about hunter pets any more. I thought it would be awesome to have more slots, but then they normalized pets even more, so all I use is my monkey anyway. I tried the bear recently, but they still look pretty stupid charging. I have a fondness for the old boar as well.

This is rather odd, considering about two weeks ago I had an indepth discussion with a Hunter-playing GM about the loss of my Ghost Wolf (US hunter, now playing on EU). With the usual "Sorry, no way we can replace it" (This was the "Is there anything else I can do" part), we got into discussing the spirit wolves and so on, and ended up with us pining over the amazingly cool pet. This led to the GM declaring that they would take the matter to the next level. Aka, the GM suggestion box.

Well happy for hunters, but as the other pet class (warlock) I can't help but groan and feel a bit jealous. We have been stuck with the same minions for a long time. I would love for a bit more variety. Destrolock/imp combo or Demo/Felguard is pretty much all you see now. Even if this new pet is exactly like another of the pets, you have a choice and get to choose something you find visually appealing.

There is some nice video of it here: http://www.gamona.de/video,1500352
It's in German but the pictures really don't do justice to the lightning effect. :)
