Patch 3.2: Tier 9 set bonuses changed in new PTR build

The Patch 3.2 PTR has been updated to a new build, and the set bonuses for many Tier 9 sets have been changed or updated. In the update, they made the priest set bonuses not terrible! And the updated Elemental shaman ones aren't terrible now either!
I guess the feedback from the threads Ghostcrawler posted has been going to good use. But don't forget -- if you're still unsatisfied, say so on the proper forums and make your voice heard.
Otherwise, check 'em out below! Thanks to WOTLKWiki.info for mining these so quickly.

My money is on them getting on mmo-champion tbh

The DPS priest Bonus really needs to be changed. Currently Extending the length of Devouring Plague could actually lower DPS since there is an instant damage tick on the cast.
Apra Aug 4th 2009 4:20PM
I disagree. Even with the instant damage, devouring plague is more of a pain to have to re-cast. If you watch recount closely while testing on a dummy, you`ll notice your DPS is at its highest when all dots are active and mind flay is flowing. Any time you have to re-cast dots, it slows down a little bit.

That holy pally 4 piece seems a bit OP To me but hey im a holy pally so bring it!

The fact Divine Protection causes Forbearance is stupid... I don't understand why they haven't changed that through a late-Prot talent. Also, Why can't DPS Warriors use Shield Wall as easily as DPS DKs and Rets can use their cooldowns. Okay, so it only takes a macro, but it's still stupid.. you can switch back to the other stance in seconds anyway... it's merely a formality.

Decreasing the cooldown of Shield Block by -10.0 sec means it'll increase by 10.0 sec? Guess not.
Nice set bonus still.

Thumbs Up: Two different effects on the Priest 4 piece bonus, one for each healing spec.
Thumbs Down: Holy's bonus is for empowered renew...ew.
Apra Aug 4th 2009 4:19PM
Renew spec can actually be pretty powerful in certain encounters. It is a great filler spell to throw on tanks once theyre topped off, especially when only one person is slightly missing some health, as it now has heal-snipe capabilities. I have done sapphiron recently in renew spec, and I wtfpwned the healing meters, beating our leading druid. The combination of renew and prayer of mending was outstanding. I could only imagine healing a sapph-like enoucnter with 4 piece tier 9.
I recently buckled and switched to a more PoH centered spec, due to its necessity for hard modes, but once I get 4 piece T9 I will likely switch back to renew - especially given the PoH nerf.

Hmm.. no bonuses yet shown for Resto druids and Ret pallies... I can wait a little longer for them.

Good, I was horridly unimpressed with the old set bonuses for EHN shaman, these are pretty keen top to bottom.

Decreased taunt cooldown, eh? At least taunt, unlike intervene (original 2T9 was -cooldown on intervene), is an ability I use on a regular basis.
It's still a lot weaker than the 2T7 (+10% damage on shield slam) or 2T8 (+10% crit chance on devastate) bonuses imo. If I have to taunt twice within a few seconds, then either I bedder drop vigilance on the offtank, or I'm doing something wrong. Or the DPS is doing something wrong, getting spored all the time and having to constantly taunt Loatheb back is a good way to stay on your toes I guess, but it doesn't make for a great 2T9.
Krypton Jul 8th 2009 5:31PM
/agree... if you're having to taunt that many times back to back, something is definitely wrong with your tanking or your group. I hardly ever use growl unless I absolutely need to or it's a boss that requires two tanks to taunt back and forth. Decreased taunt by 2 seconds as a set bonus pretty much blows...
Krypton Jul 8th 2009 5:38PM
"If I have to taunt twice within a few seconds..." /agree
I hardly ever use growl unless I absolutely need to get aggro back. Normally an actually attack will solve that problem unless the dps is stupid and refuses to target another mob instead of continuously building aggro on the mob coming at them. If I need taunt to be a smaller cooldown, I'm obviously doing something wrong... so a decrease to taunts for all the tanking set bonuses? bleh... I'd rather have something more useful, like a buff to a main tanking ability for better threat building.

Sorry for the double post, it never posted the first time and then all of a sudden did...

"feedback threads going to good use" my damn ass.
the old values were obvious placeholders, and i consider this the first, not the second run at t9 bonuses.
warlock t7 2setbonus: "Increases the damage done by your Unstable Affliction by 20% and your Immolate by 10%."
warlock t9 4setbonus: "Increases the damage done by your Immolate, Corruption, and Unstable Affliction spells by 10%."
two whole tiers of progression, 4set vs 2set... just delete the damn class already.
Michael Sacco Jun 29th 2009 6:51PM
If you're so convinced that the first pass was placeholders, then why aren't you convinced that these warlock set bonuses, identical to the first pass, are also placeholders?
Siberian ginseng and some valerian root is my recommendation.
Fung Jun 29th 2009 7:04PM
you know, you're right. my memory was wrong, and I was thinking it was the 4setbonus that was the illogical "Increases your pet's critical strike chance with its abilities by 10%. (0 yd, cast: 0 seconds, val1: 10)", the one that really told me it's just placeholders. i see now that that was the two-set, and you're right: nothing's changed since the last announcement for locks, and yeah, i probably can still regard these as just placeholders.
i just presumed when the article was about CHANGES to tier 9, that the only thing mentioned about warlocks would be, well, a change.
it'd be super-lame as is, but i withdraw my outrage until further notice ^_^
Fung Jun 29th 2009 7:12PM
yeaahhh, ok, i can see the 4set changed just marginally too.
soooo since i'm on a roll, i need to think up an error for THIS post than i can correct in yet another too.

Serpent Sting...CRITS?
Oh, my, yes.

I'm curious to see what effect this has on Chim Shot.
